[10:18]<npnrp>hmm
[10:20]<zuzu>how do you re-center the cursor?
[10:22]<bfyccyn>move the cursor more or less to the center -> SHIFT+S -> snap cursor to grid
[10:24]<zuzu>thanks
[10:24]<zuzu>i always forget how to do that whenever i don't use blender daily
[10:24]<bfyccyn>ah
[10:25]<fyzxv2zyzznz>Are there any good tutorials on writing blender export plugins?
[10:25]<bfyccyn>it looks bad on your guru name you know :D
[10:25]<zuzu>heh, yeah yeah
[10:29]<zuzu>i keep hitting 'W' to extrude too
[10:30]<zuzu>guess i'm used to subdividing
[10:32]<zuzu>it is, that's my point
[10:37]<zuzu>http://www.php-geeks.com/face.jpg
[10:37]<zuzu>it's a wip...only spent about 15 minutes on it so far
[10:38]<npnrp>cute
[10:38]<npnrp>guru, it would be cool to see it with some basic materials as well later. (and soon nice materials)
[10:39]<npnrp>yea
[10:39]<zuzu>KenshinW95^: heh, i spent exactly 30 seconds setting up the camera
[10:39]<npnrp>What do you think of my billiards? http://eleaf.no-ip.org/files/billiards.jpg
[10:39]<zuzu>the big dent where the base of the nose meets the face?
[10:39]<npnrp>;/
[10:40]<zuzu>that's the area i haven't finished yet :)
[10:40]<zuzu>i changed the nose 4 times since i started on it
[10:40]<npnrp>hmm.....
[10:40]<npnrp>billiards~!
[10:40]<logan>eh?
[10:41]<zuzu>Eleaf: nice start, could use some more realism on the shadow's though
[10:41]<npnrp>yeah..
[10:41]<npnrp>I think the lighting (falloff etc.) is better without IO..
[10:41]<npnrp>But hmm..
[10:42]<npnrp>guru, how do you think the shadows should be?
[10:42]<zuzu>the texture on the pool stick doesn't look right either, but the texture on the balls is decent
[10:42]<npnrp>okay.
[10:43]<zuzu>you're getting better compared to the last render i saw of yours though :)
[10:44]<npnrp>which was that? lol
[10:44]<zuzu>no idea, it's been a while
[10:44]<npnrp>lol
[10:44]<npnrp>I made those billiards balls just messing around heh.. ;p
[10:44]<zuzu>i already shut down my rendering machine or i'd show you my latest
[10:44]<npnrp>'oh cool.
[10:45]<zuzu>i'm out, later everyone
[10:45]<npnrp>bye guru
[10:47]<aaxnzznvv>anyone know of a good tutorial for creating terrain?
[10:49]<logan>hmmm
[10:49]<aaxnzznvv>I am tossing up the idea of generating all terrain in blander for maximum control of my scenes or creating the backdrops in a terrain generator and then using blender to do the rest
[10:52]<aaxnzznvv>If I generate my mountains as an image then I cannot fly through them when I want
[10:53]<logan>wellll
[10:53]<logan>depends on what tutorial you look at
[10:54]<npnrp>hehehehehhehehe
[10:54]<logan>http://www.blendernation.com/2006/06/09/innerworld-a-landscape-generator/
[10:55]<logan>Photo? http://www.blendernation.com/2006/05/31/videotutorial-camera-mapping-in-blender/
[10:56]<aaxnzznvv>I want to create photorealistic terrain such as created by terragen http://www.planetside.co.uk/terragen/
[10:57]<logan>or bryce, eh
[10:57]<logan>or vue d'esprit
[10:57]<logan>cant you export?
[10:57]<aaxnzznvv>I am running linux so I would like to stick to a solution inside of that parameter
[10:58]<logan>eh
[10:58]<logan>sure
[10:59]<logan>poof "Terragen is free for personal non-commercial use."
[10:59]<pggg>terragen sure does look sweet
[10:59]<logan>I have Bryce
[11:00]<aaxnzznvv>Terragen is great but it only creates 2d images
[11:00]<logan>well fenn, maybe, but I dont use any tools anymore that have "free for personal non-commercial use." anymore
[11:00]<aaxnzznvv>I want to be able to travel into the moutains
[11:00]<logan>Photo? http://www.blendernation.com/2006/05/31/videotutorial-camera-mapping-in-blender/
[11:00]<logan>maybe this is interesting
[11:00]<pggg>you can get a lot of terrain data from GIS
[11:01]<logan>dem files?
[11:01]<pggg>er, usgs even
[11:01]<pggg>right
[11:01]<logan>Demographic Elevation Model
[11:01]<logan>or something :)
[11:02]<logan>demographic is prolly wrong
[11:02]<logan>so terragen cannot export 3D model?
[11:02]<logan>oh and Bryce and Vue D'esperit dont run on linux
[11:02]<aaxnzznvv>not that I could see
[11:03]<logan>terrain import/export - Terragen can import and export raw heightfield information in 8-bit greyscale (and soon 16-bit). Possible uses include the construction of terrains from externally created pictures. Terragen can also save terrains as Lightwave LWO files, and files compatible with the 'Import Binary' feature in VistaPro. Import/export capabilities can also be enhanced via the plugin system.
[11:04]<pggg>doncha love nonstandard file formats
[11:04]<logan>Registered users will also have access to priority email support, and will be able to render images larger than 1280 x 960, terrains larger than 513 x 513 and enhanced anti-aliasing modes.
[11:04]<logan>LWO is standard
[11:04]<logan>LightWaveObject
[11:04]<pggg>nothing is standard without a specification describing the standard
[11:04]<logan>erm
[11:04]<logan>Lightwave
[11:04]<logan>?
[11:05]<logan>heh
[11:05]<pggg>you're missing the point
[11:05]<aaxnzznvv>LOGAN: I am too green to know better. Can LWO import into blender?
[11:05]<logan>naah
[11:05]<pggg>stl is standard, dxf is not, because there's a specification describing stl
[11:05]<logan>ccherrett: I havent imported much
[11:05]<pggg>dxf is whatever happens to load into autocad this year
[11:05]<logan>most other 3D tools can handle it
[11:06]<logan>I have Bryce, Poser, Carrara, Truespace
[11:06]<logan>they handle lwo
[11:06]<logan>so I expect blender to
[11:06]<logan>(but hey, goto import and check ;)
[11:06]<pggg>"wouldnt it be nice"
