[11:51]<djdjzy-zzgg>O_o
[11:51]<djdjzy-zzgg>well... when exactly did it break?
[11:51]<wxzyv>sometime between last week and today.
[11:51]<djdjzy-zzgg>did you install anything during that time?
[11:51]<wxzyv>openal!
[11:51]<wxzyv>and sdl_junk
[11:52]<djdjzy-zzgg>sdl wouldn't hurt it I doubt...
[11:52]<djdjzy-zzgg>so its openAL thats messing it
[11:52]<djdjzy-zzgg>just a moment
[11:52]<wxzyv>k
[11:53]<djdjzy-zzgg>in your terminal
[11:53]<djdjzy-zzgg>and I hope you have gdb -_-
[11:53]<djdjzy-zzgg>'gdb blender'
[11:53]<wxzyv>oh, i installed libogg and libvorbis, too.
[11:54]<wxzyv>bash-3.00$ gdb blender
[11:54]<wxzyv>GNU gdb 6.3
[11:54]<djdjzy-zzgg>when it loads
[11:54]<djdjzy-zzgg>just type run
[11:54]<djdjzy-zzgg>and hit enter
[11:54]<wxzyv>(no debugging symbols found)

[11:54]<myrrmrmrrr>:|
[11:54]<wxzyv>I need ro recompile w/ debugging info?
[11:55]<djdjzy-zzgg>what MickMcMack said
[11:55]<wxzyv>to!
[11:55]<wxzyv>oh, ok.
[11:55]<djdjzy-zzgg>but yeah....
[11:55]<wxzyv>yeah?
[11:55]<wxzyv>how do i do that?
[11:56]<wxzyv>I'm a total slacker. i don't compile anything unless I have to.
[11:56]<djdjzy-zzgg>hmmmm
[11:56]<djdjzy-zzgg>you'd have to download the blender source
[11:56]<djdjzy-zzgg>and just re-compile it
[11:56]<djdjzy-zzgg>when you run the ./configure script, enable debugging, if it has one
[11:56]<djdjzy-zzgg>ahaha
[11:56]<djdjzy-zzgg>then i'm the total opposite :)
[11:57]<wxzyv>what do you run?
[11:57]<djdjzy-zzgg>gentoo
[11:57]<djdjzy-zzgg>and osx
[11:57]<djdjzy-zzgg>which is what i'm running now
[11:58]<wxzyv>ha. i knew you would say gentoo.
[11:58]<myrrmrmrrr>Gentoo?
[11:58]<myrrmrmrrr>;_;
[11:59]<djdjzy-zzgg>ahaha, its the first time i've used gentoo
[11:59]<mjcvjznrs>hi to all!
[11:59]<djdjzy-zzgg>i usually use bsd
[11:59]<mjcvjznrs>i am moving to blender from other 3d software
[11:59]<djdjzy-zzgg>hi doktoreas
[11:59]<myrrmrmrrr>y halo thar!
[11:59]<wxzyv>yeah, screw that. if it doesn't come with slack or in a package i prolly wont be able to compile it anyway...
[11:59]<mjcvjznrs>this is my problem:
[12:00]<wxzyv>only one uv map?
[12:00]<mjcvjznrs>i have got a dxf with line that describes roads
[12:00]<mjcvjznrs>can i import in blender and change the line to a model i created?
[12:00]<djdjzy-zzgg>xhrit: but back to the topic, i believe the problem you're having is that blender is trying to access a library that was compiled differently to how its supposed to be. The segfault happens because its trying to access something, or a piece of memory that doesn't exist
[12:00]<wxzyv>oh, an other problem.
[12:00]<wxzyv>yeah, but what lib, and how to fix it?
[12:00]<djdjzy-zzgg>i'm thinking openAL
[12:00]<djdjzy-zzgg>so, just do a locate or whereis openal
[12:01]<djdjzy-zzgg>and rename it temporarily
[12:01]<myrrmrmrrr>doktoreas, I'm pretty sure Blender imports DXF.
[12:01]<djdjzy-zzgg>make sure to do an ldconfig after
[12:01]<djdjzy-zzgg>or you'll have errors
[12:02]<wxzyv>hmm...
[12:02]<mjcvjznrs>MickMcMack: but then can i assign a model to that line?
[12:02]<djdjzy-zzgg>by the way, why was OpenAL having problems compiling?
[12:02]<mjcvjznrs>i remembered about a tutorial a user write about model city with blender
[12:02]<mjcvjznrs>he use it for a mexico scene
[12:06]<wxzyv>openal is a bitch.
[12:07]<wxzyv>i dont know exactly. i rebooted my machine and it worked.
[12:08]<djdjry-rwgg>bleh
[12:08]<djdjry-rwgg>CDMA = not nice
[12:09]<myrrmrmrrr>I like touching my man boobies. :x
[12:09]<djdjry-rwgg>i used to
[12:09]<djdjry-rwgg>but i don't have any anymore
[12:09]<prffyrrmuvax>hi all, is there an easy way to build swept shere volumes in blender? well point swept shere is a normal sphere, but line/rectangle swept spheres are bit different
[12:09]<myrrmrmrrr>What is a swept shere?
[12:10]<prffyrrmuvax>a swept sphere is an extension of an max. 2 dimensional objekt in all directions using a segment r
[12:10]<bnbzrw>a pic would help
[12:10]<prffyrrmuvax>so a point swept sphere is just a sphere
[12:11]<prffyrrmuvax>a line swept sphere is a tube with half of a sphere at each ending
[12:11]<myrrmrmrrr>PIC
[12:11]<myrrmrmrrr>TUR
[12:11]<myrrmrmrrr>E
[12:11]<pggg>like the k3d logo
[12:12]<prffyrrmuvax>http://www.cs.unc.edu/~geom/SSV/ssv.pdf on page 10
[12:12]<pggg>its too bad these guys dont speak english
[12:13]<bnbzrw>use curve and bevel?
[12:13]<bnbzrw>that should do it
[12:15]<prffyrrmuvax>thanks for that hint, BeBraw
[12:16]<myrrmrmrrr>Why are you fallingdutch if you are in Germany? :X
[12:16]<bnbzrw>are you familiar with blender's curves fallingdutch?
[12:17]<prffyrrmuvax>BeBraw: not yet .... i am a noob in blender
