[13:00]<ddcnd->http://www.ipflow.utc.fr/index.php/Cisco_7200_Simulator
[13:01]<ddcnd->anyone tried this?
[13:06]<jnfnwzllnzcn>jep
[13:06]<jnfnwzllnzcn>works like a charm
[13:13]<fjsvnf>(if you dont run it on an smp host)
[13:14]<ddcnd->good to hear.
[13:14]<ddcnd->tnx
[13:15]<sag>is it supposed to use 100% cpu?
[13:18]<jnfnwzllnzcn>yes
[13:19]<ddcnd->well emulating mips is hell of a work for sure
[13:19]<ddcnd->plus, make it run ios :)
[15:08]<vd2r>morning (for me)
[15:09]<cxzjdd_>same here, unfortunately
[16:14]<zzwffzdnz>supp
[16:19]<vd2r>what's an ip address management software that doesn't suck?
[16:22]<szygnnz>excel
[16:22]<szygnnz>or notepad
[16:25]<fjsvnf>tmbg: lucent's qip or wtf is called this month, northstar. There are a few. Which ones you've tried and you're unhappy?
[16:33]<zzwffzdnz>tmbg: mysql/php
[16:33]<zzwffzdnz>and some bash
[16:39]<vd2r>yeah that'd probably be better.
[16:40]<vd2r>right now I'm using SolarWinds IP mgmt which uses an access database. it sucks. database is always getting corrupted.
[16:41]<vd2r>raw: I would think the wheel has already been invented for something like this in php/sql, know of any GNU GPL stuff out there?
[16:41]<kgzggf_mgrm>Iv looked around but can not find the docs I need. I have a cisco pix 520 and I want to configure a vpn connection on it. Can anyone point me to a link or anything that will help?
[16:42]<vd2r>asdm has a vpn wizard and I think pdm does as well.
[16:43]<pypypy>tmbg, what are you looking to do exactly?
[16:44]<gndyvx>yes pdm does
[16:45]<vd2r>pipipi: we don't use dhcp on a lot of our networks, so we have to keep track of what IPs have been issued so that duplicates don't get assigned.
[16:45]<gndyvx>tmbg: i was going to write something like that once
[16:45]<pypypy>tmbg, ipplan was the last thing i saw available on Freshmeat
[16:45]<pypypy>if that doesn't serve your purpose, then get RubyonRails framework up and running
[16:46]<gndyvx>you build sites, then network goes into sites and nodes going into sites/networks
[16:46]<pypypy>and just write a quick piece of software for it
[16:46]<gndyvx>oh and circuits as well
[16:46]<gndyvx>with contacts linked to either sites or circuits
[16:49]<gndyvx>then eventualy have it auto discover nodes and networks via snmp
[16:51]<pypypy>anyone know where I can get cisco imgs?
[16:52]<fjsvnf>PiPiPi: cisco.com or one of the resellers is a safe bet.
[16:52]<pypypy>im looking for a c7200 img so i can use dynamips to emulate it
[16:56]<fjsvnf>PiPiPi: im using c7200-advipservicesk9-mz.124-4.T1.bin and c7200-k91p-mz.122-25.S9.bin with the http://www.ipflow.utc.fr/index.php/Cisco_7200_Simulator sim, a reseller should be able to supply any of those.
[16:56]<pypypy>reseller charges how much for something like that?
[16:56]<vd2r>I don't even need something that complicated nemith, I have CW and SW orion for network discovery/mapping/etc. I just need an alternative to SW IP mgmt bc it sucks
[16:58]<fjsvnf>PiPiPi: call them up and get a quote. The sales dept in _any_ shop returns mail in _seconds_
[17:02]<pypypy>wtf is IOSHunter?
[17:05]<pypypy>hi
[17:06]<fjsvnf>PiPiPi: question no 6 in the FAQ
[17:07]<pypypy>okee
[17:07]<pypypy>good point
[17:07]<pypypy>:)
[17:07]<pypypy>now to freakin find a IOS
[17:08]<pypypy>too expensive i can already tell
[17:08]<pypypy>i need an emulator though
[17:08]<pypypy>so i can begin practicing
[17:08]<pypypy>yeah, ill have to find another emulator til i can afford a Cisco device
[17:09]<pypypy>yeah that works also
[17:10]<pypypy>yeah i just found dynamips which requires the actual image
[17:10]<pypypy>hehe, right
[17:11]<vd2r>I haven't found any emulators that I care for. most pretty much suck.
[17:11]<pypypy>tmbg, how is dynamips though with a loaded image?
[17:12]<vd2r>there's some stuff out there that uses reverse telnet to access the actual device, but it's usually 2600s and whatnot.
[17:12]<vd2r>pipipi: never used it. only used emulators and reverse telnet.
[17:12]<pypypy>to setup a CCIE lab seems like it costs somewhere between $4 - $6K
[17:12]<pypypy>it may be better just to do that
[17:14]<pypypy>for myself
[17:14]<pypypy>...? ?
[17:14]<pypypy>for myself
[17:14]<vd2r>I would imagine to practice for ccie exam? only reason to make one I can think of
[17:15]<pypypy>exactly
[17:15]<pypypy>but that is already implied when i say CCIE Lab i think
[17:15]<pypypy>i say for myself so you put two-and-two together
[17:15]<pypypy>FBH^, how do i sound?
[17:16]<vd2r>lol.
[17:16]<pypypy>i appreciate it, there was once a quote
[17:16]<pypypy>The pursuit of truth and beauty is a sphere of activity in which we are permitted to remain children all our lives.
[17:17]<pypypy>FBH^, how should I sound for you so you may treat/consider me as an adult?
[17:17]<pypypy>Master?
[17:17]<vd2r>I have almost as much network experience as recommended by cisco to test for ccie but I definitely am nowhere close to obtaining one. I feel confident about passing a ccna exam after some review though. after I test for promotion I plan on studying/testing for ccna. mostly I need to review routing protocols.
[17:17]<pypypy>well im no where considering taking a CCIE
[17:18]<pypypy>nor do i have any certifications that any company creates
[17:18]<pypypy>im not on IRC to win friends
[17:18]<pypypy>and i did not ask for illegal Cisco IOS images
[17:18]<pypypy>i just would like to see what response i get from the community
[17:18]<pypypy>i didnt state i dont want friends
[17:19]<pypypy>i stated Im not on IRC to _WIN_ friends
[17:19]<pypypy>ok then stop asking questions leading back to the same stupid thing
[17:19]<pypypy>you had a problem with me asking something, then get straight to the point
[17:20]<pypypy>so how is moving going?
[17:20]<pypypy>which University are you attending?
[17:21]<gndyvx>tmbg: well it was a pipedream really
[17:21]<gndyvx>tmbg: why manually enter in ip info if you can just assign it to sites
[17:21]<gndyvx>but not monitoring, more documentation
[17:22]<gndyvx>one stop shop for network info
[17:22]<gndyvx>FBH^: are you actually in KS?
[17:24]<gndyvx>nice
[17:24]<vd2r>nemith: no it's for 5,000 local users on ~100 subnets. we statically assign each workstation an IP.
[17:24]<vd2r>they're not remote sites, they're local.
[17:25]<gndyvx>makes sense, it would still be nice for something like that too
[17:25]<gndyvx>FBH^: i got one at birth... so i dunno
[17:25]<rnnyn>FBH^, www.ssa.gov
