[21:48]<dzzzzzzz>Tabs do rule
[21:48]<vz2ufzzzsz>heh
[21:48]<dzzzzzzz>Than anything below 5 sux
[21:48]<gndyvx>right
[21:48]<vz2ufzzzsz>4.x was fine
[21:48]<dzzzzzzz>I tried other stuff but Scrt got them all beat
[21:48]<gndyvx>and i already shelled out the cash myself to install it
[21:48]<vz2ufzzzsz>its worth every penny
[21:48]<dzzzzzzz>tabularasa: Yeah, but nothing beats tabs especially when troubleshooting or running various thigns
[21:49]<vcul>securecrt? pfff cu does fine!
[21:49]<dzzzzzzz>cu?
[21:49]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>minicom :D
[21:49]<gndyvx>but damned SMS told on me and now they are asking me to uninstall it
[21:49]<vcul>Deranger: cu = call up
[21:49]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>nemith: bitch at them -- tell them you bought the license and have it.
[21:49]<gndyvx>loather-work: it's their computer
[21:50]<rfv>SMS?
[21:50]<gndyvx>alt: Microsoft stuff
[21:50]<rfv>ah
[21:50]<xud2jfv>in one of my routers config I found an entry: standby 1 ip xx.xx.xx.xx
[21:50]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>how annoying.
[21:50]<xud2jfv>what is that for?
[21:50]<vz2ufzzzsz>humbolt HSRP
[21:50]<gndyvx>humbolt: HSRP
[21:50]<vz2ufzzzsz>lol
[21:50]<vz2ufzzzsz>jinx
[21:50]<vz2ufzzzsz>you owe me a beer... ;)
[21:51]<dzzc1lyvn>nemith> not here
[21:51]<dzzc1lyvn>I install anything
[21:51]<gndyvx>yeah
[21:51]<dzzc1lyvn>:p
[21:51]<vd2r>I like putty but wish they would add rs232 console support.
[21:51]<gndyvx>and tabs
[21:51]<vz2ufzzzsz>no joke
[21:51]<gndyvx>:)
[21:51]<dzzzzzzz>tmbg: Putty is ok, but Scrt is wayyy better
[21:52]<gndyvx>I use putty for linux connections, securecrt for all my cisco stuff
[21:52]<dzzzzzzz>Yeah I use Scrt mainly for Cisco
[21:53]<gndyvx>i'd like dial support with putty as well
[21:53]<xud2jfv>I understand the HSRP concept now. Thanks for the tip.
[21:54]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>its trivial to read/write from serial
[21:54]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>i wonder how difficult that would be to add to putty
[21:54]<xud2jfv>So I would say "standby 1 ip xx.xx.xx.xx" on the primary router and "standby 2 ip xx.xx.xx.xx" on the second and they figure out themselves which one goes first by that number (1 or 2)?
[21:55]<mwdeffvc>I just snmpwalked some routers for "ciscoMemoryPoolUsed" "1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.48.1.1.1.5" and returns two values, 5.1 and 5.4, .1 is mentioned across google for 5 min free mem avg, but .4 is not mentioned anyware, google has 0 results for full oid, does anybody know what that is?
[21:55]<rfv>nemith: tera term has ssh support now too
[21:55]<gndyvx>humbolt: the number is locally significant
[21:55]<xud2jfv>can I use that concept on any cisco router on any interface?
[21:55]<vd2r>I've used scrt it's ok but doesn't make me wet or anything.
[21:55]<gndyvx>alt: i'd probably get an email about tera term as well
[21:55]<rfv>nemith: oh. is this a company laptop?
[21:55]<gndyvx>yeah
[21:56]<xud2jfv>so it is the standby 1 priority 105 that does the trick
[21:56]<rfv>sounds like they're terrified of licensing issues :\
[21:56]<rfv>nemith: here's what you could do: get a USB key and put the standalone programs on there. Tera Term Pro's latest version doesn't have an installer and putty never has.
[21:56]<rfv>I've used that trick already.
[21:57]<rfv>might help you
[21:57]<gndyvx>heh
[21:57]<mwdeffvc>cisco's oid translator doesn't know about either .1 or .4
[21:57]<rfv>mind you, I'm running FC5 on my laptop now :)
[21:57]<gndyvx>well i am concidering getting my own laptop
[21:58]<gndyvx>and just keeping this one docked all the time
[21:58]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>i should have some decent laptops up for sale here shortly
[21:58]<vz2ufzzzsz>what kind and how much?
[21:58]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>well, by decent, i mean working Dell machines no more than a couple years old
[21:59]<vz2ufzzzsz>Pentium M or Pentium BS ?
[21:59]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>inspiron 8000, latitude C840, latitude C400
[21:59]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>8000s are P3 of some relatively high speed, C840 are P4 somethignorother, C400 are P3 of relatively low speed
[22:00]<vz2ufzzzsz>c840 = pentium BS
[22:00]<vcul>has anyone tried the jos5656i on a 2500? how well does it work?
[22:01]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>jos5656i? what is that?
[22:01]<gndyvx>loather-work: how much?
[22:01]<gndyvx>i would take that c840
[22:02]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>nemith: they'll be real cheap -- probably under $200. i have to let the employees get first whack at them, and if there are any left over i'll let you know
[22:02]<gndyvx>loather-work: cool
[22:02]<gndyvx>loather-work: yes please let me know :)
[22:02]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>will do :)
[22:02]<vcul>loather-work, my bad it's the firewall/DES IOS image
[22:04]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>tkup: i have ik8os-l 12.2(31) running on an AS2509-RJ -- aside from being slow as molasses in the winter, it works fine
[22:06]<vcul>yeah ios runs off flash. it's slow as hell
[22:08]<dzzzzzzz>*cough* more ram *cough*
[22:09]<vcul>well considering the 2500's have 68030
[22:09]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>2500s really are slow. i think they have a 30MHz 68030
[22:10]<dzzzzzzz>bah I can buy an intel P4 3ghz for it and install it
[22:10]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>bonding 2 T1s with one of those suckers is almost more than they can handle
[22:11]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>Deranger: depends on the pix. 515E has a P2, if i recall correctly
[22:11]<dzzzzzzz>loather-work: To tell you the truth I didn't even look at the guts
[22:11]<dzzzzzzz>Just in comparison so most switches or even 2600x routers
[22:12]<dzzzzzzz>PIXs boot up time pretty damn quick
[22:12]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>525 has a P3/600
[22:13]<dzzzzzzz>Never touched 525s
[22:13]<dzzzzzzz>515E yes
[22:14]<dzzzzzzz>Interestingly enough the pix and 2600x routers are almost identical in front
[22:14]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>same chassis
[22:14]<dzzzzzzz>right
[22:14]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>Hardware: PIX-515E, 256 MB RAM, CPU Pentium II 433 MHz
[22:14]<dzzzzzzz>except the LED if you look carefully are different
[22:14]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>yeah, there's no RPS light, instead it has an 'active' and 'traffic' light
[22:14]<dzzzzzzz>2600x = Power, RPS, Activity
[22:15]<dzzzzzzz>where as PIX has Network instead of Activity or RPS I think
