[22:28]<dzzzzzzz>thats for sure
[22:28]<dzzzzzzz>cisco WS-C2924M-XL (PowerPC403GA) processor (revision 0x11) with 8192K/1024K bytes of memory.
[22:28]<vz2ufzzzsz>oh yeah... and it has 48 ports.. :)
[22:29]<dzzzzzzz>yeah 3560 does

[22:29]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>i need a quiet switch
[22:30]<vz2ufzzzsz>anything is quiet compared to 5500 series
[22:30]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>my 3550 is loud. My 3 running 2600s are loud.
[22:30]<dzzzzzzz>yeah compared to 2900x and 3500x series switches 3560 def quite
[22:30]<dzzzzzzz>and smaller too
[22:30]<dzzzzzzz>power up 6500
[22:31]<dzzzzzzz>if u r ever hot they'll cool u down
[22:31]<dzzzzzzz>haha
[22:31]<dzzzzzzz>*5500
[22:32]<2zdsnpzz>5500's suck.
[22:32]<dzzzzzzz>What are they for?
[22:32]<gndyvx>they were good 10 years ago
[22:32]<2zdsnpzz>nemith: Yeah
[22:32]<gndyvx>Deranger: the 6500's replaced them
[22:32]<dzzzzzzz>oh ok
[22:32]<vz2ufzzzsz>you have never seen a 5500??
[22:32]<dzzzzzzz>No, we got 6500s no 5000x
[22:33]<vz2ufzzzsz>lucky you
[22:33]<crfvrmjs>hello, I need a clue. I've a catalyst switch 2950. and I want to make include my internet router to all vlans. how can I do it ?
[22:33]<vz2ufzzzsz>looks like the same chassis... 5500 and 6500... not sure though
[22:33]<dzzzzzzz>what I really like is 12000x
[22:33]<2zdsnpzz>Deranger: They're not so cool.
[22:33]<dzzzzzzz>GSR's?
[22:33]<dzzzzzzz>aka the 12k once?
[22:33]<gndyvx>tabularasa: different chassis
[22:33]<-- dvxn|syzzzyus xzs>http://www.bagdadsoftware.de")
[22:33]<gndyvx>6500 blades are double the size
[22:34]<gndyvx>double the heigth even
[22:34]<vz2ufzzzsz>really? fuq. thats huge
[22:34]<dzzzzzzz>yeah they are pretty big
[22:34]<dzzzzzzz>are 5500 the size of 4500x?
[22:34]<vz2ufzzzsz>the 5500 is not small.. its like... 13u?
[22:34]<gndyvx>well 6509 is the same size as a 5513
[22:34]<vz2ufzzzsz>gotcha
[22:35]<dzzzzzzz>I really like the 3750 from efficiency
[22:35]<dzzzzzzz>stand point
[22:35]<dzzzzzzz>they are pretty much 2 in 1
[22:35]<dzzzzzzz>type of devices now
[22:36]<dzzzzzzz>compared to old 3550-12G and T
[22:36]<pzgrcdgf>got a dell powerconnect (rebranded netgear) ques if that's ok. got a vlan 255 on port 13-24. i'm in port 19, assign the vlan ip 192.168.255.2 but can't do anything with it, not ping, not http. release ip from vlan 255, assign it to port 19 and all is fine. how come vlan 255 doesn't accept it (well the config accepts it, but it doesn't do a thing)
[22:36]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>i'm trying to land a 3750 from this place.
[22:36]<dzzzzzzz>loather-work: for Fiber or Copper?
[22:36]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>copper
[22:36]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>this place has no fiber
[22:36]<dzzzzzzz>than make sure when u get the GBICs get copper SFPs
[22:37]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>i have fiber at home, though.
[22:37]<dzzzzzzz>nah my 2500 dont do Fiber so I stick to good old copper
[22:37]<vz2ufzzzsz>we have 4 shotgunned together as our "core" switches
[22:37]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>the 3750 is all copper. i don't even think it takes GBICs or SFPs. I'll have to look when I yank it out of the rack.
[22:37]<vz2ufzzzsz>ive not gotten into any of this internal network yet...
[22:37]<dzzzzzzz>loather-work: HU?
[22:38]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>it's a 3750-24EMI
[22:39]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>WS-C3750G-24T <--- there.
[22:39]<dzzzzzzz>ummm
[22:39]<dzzzzzzz>The 3750s we use, uses SFP's
[22:40]<dzzzzzzz>thus enabling it to take Fiber and Copper or mix of both
[22:40]<dzzzzzzz>due to the nature for SFPs
[22:40]<dzzzzzzz>WS-C3750G-12S-E
[22:40]<dzzzzzzz>WS-C3750G-12S-E
[22:42]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>yeha, it would be nice to have one with SFPs.
[22:42]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>but that's ok
[22:42]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>i'll take copper if it's free
[22:43]<dzzzzzzz>So, 3750s come in all copper format?
[22:44]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>that model does, yeah
[22:45]<dzzzzzzz>hmm ok
[22:49]<dzzzzzzz>damn SFP ports look same as reg copper
[22:49]<dzzzzzzz>on pics at least
[22:49]<gndyvx>bit smaller acutally
[22:50]<dzzzzzzz>Physically u can distinguish, but I was trying to look at some pictures to get an idea of the other all copper 3750
[22:51]<dzzzzzzz>but pics are so small cannot differentiate easily
[22:51]<gndyvx>yeah
