[18:54]<[mzvzyw]>heh
[18:55]<[mzvzyw]>grr, stupid PPTP connections keep dying
[18:58]<snppysx>I looked in my config for you but didn't have anything
[18:58]<snppysx>I know I remember reading about that though
[19:04]<bzrmylj>How do I tell what org is advertising a given BGP route?
[19:04]<bzrmylj>show ip bgp <ip>?
[19:04]<bzrmylj>Will that show the advertiser or just the route?
[19:11]<wnnvq_>show ip bgp <network> will show you the route, advertising AS, next hop
[19:19]<gndyvx>wooo
[19:20]<bzrmylj>xeet2_: Cool, thanks.
[19:22]<gndyvx>i passed
[19:23]<rfv>yay!
[19:23]<rfv>what did you pass?
[19:23]<rfv>the gas station?
[19:23]<rfv>the Bar exam?
[19:24]<rfv>that car accident that's backing up traffic to 200th St on Hwy 1?
[19:24]<fjzvxnz>i passed gas
[19:24]<gndyvx>i passed on yo momma
[19:24]<gndyvx>JNCIA-M
[19:24]<rfv>yo momma!
[19:24]<rfv>yay!
[19:24]<rfv>how different is JunOS from IOS?
[19:24]<gndyvx>Just to prove that I am not drinking the cisco kool-aid
[19:24]<gndyvx>they are similar in a lot of ways, but junos has stuff that blows ios out of the water
[19:25]<gndyvx>as far a logging and configuration management
[19:26]<fjzvxnz>yeah, cisco's configuration management sucks donkey balls
[19:26]<fjzvxnz>this 'running-config' and 'startup-config' nonsense -- give me files i can write to flashfs.
[19:26]<fjzvxnz>(some platforms you can do that, but others don't have concept of flashfs0
[19:31]<ald>can I do port based ACLs on a Sup 2?
[19:31]<ald>catos
[19:33]<ald>cat4000-K9.8-4-6-GLX
[19:35]<[mzvzyw]>so you can't get smartnet on used equipment?
[19:36]<ald>digging
[19:40]<[mzvzyw]>Hmm. http://web.nether.net/lists/cisco-nsp/6854.html
[19:40]<[mzvzyw]>be back later
[19:44]<vzgfrgg_>alt, significantly
[19:45]<rfv>hrm. if I was into networking like I used to I'd investigate it.
[19:45]<vzgfrgg_>loather, you're typing too much, copy run start
[19:45]<vzgfrgg_>alt, I'm trying to get my hands on a junos router just to learn it
[19:47]<p1nw>hey trelane_
[19:47]<snppysx>yeah, but there isn't boat loads of cheap old jewniper hardware on ebay like cisco
[19:47]<snppysx>I'd like to learn it as well
[19:48]<vzgfrgg_>f3ew, hey :)
[19:48]<p1nw>Junos is simple enough to learn
[19:48]<rfv>hi f3ew
[19:48]<p1nw>way way simpler than IOS
[19:48]<vzgfrgg_>selfish, no kidding, we're going to have to wait for hte second revision of hte J series kit
[19:48]<rfv>is it closer to CatOS?
[19:48]<rfv>or still completely different?
[19:48]<p1nw>transactional too
[19:48]<rnsr>there is a new book "junos cookbook" maybe interesting for you
[19:48]<p1nw>alt the stuff you edit looks ike a BIND config file
[19:48]<rfv>hrm. $40US for a Boson kit for Juniper Exams 5.x
[19:48]<rfv>oh.
[19:48]<rfv>nice. contextual :)
[19:48]<p1nw>stuff would be like
[19:48]<snppysx>gesa nice, i may look into that
[19:49]<p1nw>interface fastethernet 0/0/0 {
[19:49]<p1nw> ip addrerss 192.168.1.1;
[19:49]<p1nw>}
[19:49]<rnsr>by the way I'm a bit confused is this about cisco or juniper :-)
[19:50]<snppysx>yes :)
[19:50]<rfv>hee hee
[19:50]<snppysx>we're comparing the OS's
[19:50]<rfv>gesa: a good admin knows more than just cisco
[19:51]<rnsr>ok ok, just join a few minutes ago and of course I agree that there is more than cisco
[19:51]<snppysx>blasphemer!
[19:56]<ald>shun him, shun him!
[19:59]<rfv>burn!
[19:59]<rfv>oh wait....
[20:13]<crcvus>can give me anybody some insight how to find out cpu and mem utilization on a Cisco switch with the command line
[20:13]<jeeej>sh proc cpu
[20:13]<jeeej>sh mem
[20:14]<crcvus>show mem I tried but this give me more confusion than info I must admit
[20:15]<vcul>kaktus, show mem | i expression
[20:16]<crcvus>probably here starts my problem, grep'ing for what, what I was looking for was some kind of summary of mem usage
[20:18]<vcul>does show mem ? give you options?
[20:19]<crcvus>yes it does, using them also give me long list
[20:20]<vcul>i recall using show mem free but i don't remember for sure
[20:21]<crcvus>just tried that but not able to interpret this, it give me lots of data and totals which does not fit to the data
[20:40]<jeeej>the first part of "show mem" is the summary
[21:23]<ald>nosup
[21:24]<snppysx>cvsup?
[21:29]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>xchat is great
[21:29]<ald>is there something other than xchat?
[21:29]<ald>xpef
[21:29]<ald>xpdf
[21:30]<-- sgvgzs xzs fuyv (>/dev/brain")
[21:30]<ald>I like xchat just fine, the python interface works well, very scriptable, very configurable,
[21:39]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>FBH^: if you're running linux-intel adobe released acrobat reader
[21:39]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>and it's good.
[21:39]<[mzvzyw]>oh really? sweet!
[21:39]<[mzvzyw]>I hated xpdf
[21:39]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>xpdf only sometimes work
[21:40]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>it never ceases to amaze me though
[21:40]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>pdf == postscript level III
[21:42]<fjzvxnz-wjzc>you'd think someone besides adobe could create software to correctly render postscript
[21:55]<ald>xpdf does a good job rendering correct postscript. Many apps kludge their PS code, so only Acrobat can render them correctly. Fuck adobe.
[21:55]<ald>Sorry
