[16:14]<vmjgrxun-frlvjl>morning all
[16:17]<|ra1|>Hi
[16:18]<|ra1|>i have a C4500-IS-M), Version 12.0(12) cisco router that does not load the startup-config. What could that be?
[16:24]<snppysx>config register
[16:25]<vmjgrxun-frlvjl>i have an older 3640 router with IOS 12.2(32) that has 2 NM-1FE-TX interfaces that I'd like to play with netflow before I try and set it up on my production equipment
[16:27]<vmjgrxun-frlvjl>i can see the ip flow-export commands but when I try to enable ip flow ingress on the interface the command does not seem to be there
[16:27]<vmjgrxun-frlvjl>anyone have any hints to get this working?
[16:30]<[mzvzyw]>ac3: "conf t" -> "config-register 0x2102"
[16:30]<[mzvzyw]>and then "reload"
[16:30]<[mzvzyw]>or power cycle it, either way
[16:33]<vd2r>2102 usually works but big endian versus little endian hardware can screw stuff up.
[16:35]<[mzvzyw]>pretty sure that's right for a 4500.
[16:36]<vd2r>what's a c4500-is-m though? my 4506's are WS-C4506 or something like that.
[16:38]<[mzvzyw]>that's probably the IOS he's running
[16:38]<[mzvzyw]>or feature set rather
[16:40]<snppysx>[Matrix] if you don't mind me asking, where do you work?
[16:42]<snppysx>I set up a datacenter in columbia a few years ago
[16:42]<[mzvzyw]>I work at a place called Matrix consulting. Unique name, eh?
[16:42]<snppysx>heh
[16:43]<[mzvzyw]>Awesome, ITC just hung up on me.
[16:43]<[mzvzyw]>Err, they're called Deltacom now.
[16:43]<`kgvyg>span on a 2950, i cannot contact a host on the destination port, any work around?
[16:43]<vmjgrxun-frlvjl>no one has any idea why i can't get my netflow stats to work?
[16:44]<snppysx>never used netflow
[16:44]<[mzvzyw]>haven't really messed with netflow stats
[16:46]<vd2r>I've messed around a bunch with span but I don't understand your question
[16:49]<`kgvyg>tmbg: When I set the destinaton port, I couldnt contact the host on that port.
[16:50]<vd2r>right. you won't be able to.
[16:51]<`kgvyg>so the only choice is a hub?
[16:51]<vd2r>if you want to also be able to communicate with that machine I'd recommend setting up some sort of out of band, something like another NIC in that machine.
[16:51]<`kgvyg>hrm
[16:52]<`kgvyg>kk
[17:03]<srd-i-rd>moo.
[17:04]<srd-i-rd>so hows work?
[17:04]<srd-i-rd>who did you go with?
[17:05]<srd-i-rd>larry's another key person you should meet
[17:05]<srd-i-rd>michael?
[17:05]<srd-i-rd>next door neighbor?
[17:05]<srd-i-rd>there are no network maps. ask eric.
[17:06]<srd-i-rd>there are descriptions on each trunk port
[17:06]<srd-i-rd>and cdp works
[17:06]<srd-i-rd>but eric can tell you how things work
[17:06]<srd-i-rd>oooh elizabeth
[17:06]<srd-i-rd>she's cool
[17:06]<srd-i-rd>dont get on her bad side
[17:12]<srd-i-rd>i see you're already breaking the network?
[17:13]<srd-i-rd>way to go heh
[17:13]<srd-i-rd>eric probably does
[17:13]<srd-i-rd>or don
[17:13]<srd-i-rd>or kevin
[17:14]<srd-i-rd>they do the infrastructure, not me
[17:14]<srd-i-rd>or you
[17:14]<vd2r>a lot of times I build mine from cdp.
[17:14]<srd-i-rd>yeah
[17:14]<srd-i-rd>i've done that
[17:14]<srd-i-rd>in fact i have perl scripts that use cdp/snmp to "find" people
[17:14]<srd-i-rd>and in the process show the network map
[17:14]<srd-i-rd>FBH^: the nagios machine is another good way to find network maps
[17:14]<srd-i-rd>since it has all the dependencies listed
[17:14]<vd2r>yeah an automated tool that you could plug snmp/logins/whatever into that would automagically map stuff would be neat.
[17:15]<srd-i-rd>FBH^: https://netmon ... get yourself a login
[17:17]<srd-i-rd>its /nagios actually
[17:18]<srd-i-rd>well, you know where things are connected
[17:18]<srd-i-rd>but you dont do the actual connecting
[17:18]<srd-i-rd>you should ask eric/kevin for a tour of the distribution closets
[17:19]<srd-i-rd>haha
[17:20]<srd-i-rd>yes
[17:20]<srd-i-rd>so you can get to it from the outside world
[17:20]<srd-i-rd>like... home
[17:20]<srd-i-rd>its password protected
[17:20]<srd-i-rd>and https
[17:21]<snppysx>u:nagiosadmin p:admin
[17:21]<ald>http://www.nagios.org/development/changelog.php
[17:21]<srd-i-rd>heh
[17:21]<srd-i-rd>btw, you might want to upgrade it to nagios2 someday
[17:22]<srd-i-rd>it also has some fun things going on that make it put alerts out via modem and not internet
[17:23]<srd-i-rd>heh
[17:23]<snppysx>I got the strongbad "The System Is Down" song for my page ringtone
[17:23]<ald>blackberry=evil
[17:23]<srd-i-rd>yeah youre going to have a pager
[17:23]<srd-i-rd>and a cell phone
[17:23]<srd-i-rd>two headed monster!
[17:23]<g1ao>hi guys, quick question.... I need my eBGP stuff to allow routes via iBGP... which i guess is a simple case removing synchronization from my router conf... however when ever i do that my two routers keep re-learning each others prefixes over and over... any ideas?
[17:26]<srd-i-rd>considering sms doesnt work for shit in pittsburg, pagers seem to be the best solution
[17:29]<vd2r>why a cellphone -and- a pager? seems redundant
[17:31]<vcul>routed[12517]: Send bcast sendto(dc0, 255.255.255.255.520): Network is unreachable <--- interesting
[17:31]<srd-i-rd>tmbg: because sms doesnt work for shit, and you'll need to talk to someone at some point, which a pager cant do
[17:32]<vd2r>I get a pager (we rotate it around the shop) but use a personal cellphone.
[17:33]<vd2r>guess you guys get more money to play with. we did just buy some BADASS fluke network analyzers though.
[17:33]<vd2r>has a big touchscreen and runs xp, has gigE, 100baseFX and a GBIC port. removable harddrives and bunch of other gadgets.
[17:35]<srd-i-rd>it scares me that fluke uses windows
[17:35]<srd-i-rd>the last fluke i used had an embedded OS
[17:39]<vd2r>sam: yeah our other smaller cat5 only flukes are embedded.
[17:59]<ald>go eat something, corn would be nice. Or wheat. Are you in Kansas yet?
[17:59]<srd-i-rd>FBH^: yeaaaah, thats something else thats going to need fixing
[17:59]<srd-i-rd>FBH^: it was something i had planned to fix
[18:00]<srd-i-rd>its about to hit the 128 vlan limit of stp
[18:00]<vd2r>damn. how many machines do you support?
[18:00]<srd-i-rd>theres probably 2000 on campus
[18:00]<srd-i-rd>but the previous admin had a hardon for vlans
