[21:28]<msxjv>strangely enough
[21:32]<msxjv>it would be oh so tempting to print out my resignation and leave it taped to my flat panel
[21:33]<msxjv>this place deserves zero notice
[21:33]<snppysx>"To whom it may concern, PEACE, I'M OUT NIGGA!"
[21:34]<snppysx>don't forget to steal office supplies before you go
[21:34]<vd2r>best practice is make a habit of it through the course of your job.
[21:34]<vd2r>but steal it from other people's desks.
[21:34]<snppysx>yeah
[21:37]<mzcrv>quick question, how would one go about downgrading their firmware on a PCMCIA Wirless NIC? or atleast point me to suitable documentation, google hasnt given me much of an answer
[21:39]<fjsvnf>they bought aironet, remember?
[21:39]<mzcrv>I have a Cisco 350 Aironet
[21:41]<vm-wjzc>question: i am trying to relay dhcp thru my router with ip-helper. I also have an access-group applied to that interface. It works when I remove the access-group. Are there any ports that need to be opened for dhcp to relay correctly when the access-group is applied?
[21:41]<mzcrv>so in either case, any suggestions
[21:42]<vd2r>what's in the ACL for that interface?
[21:42]<dffnw>td-work: its something like udp port 67 or 68, try making the last line of your acl a deny log entry
[21:43]<vm-wjzc>mplex: where does that get logged and how do I access it ? pretty new with routers, sorry
[21:43]<fnajcnz>i kill me
[21:43]<dffnw>actually then, you might have better luck just looking it up
[21:43]<fnajcnz>my router cisco 2600
[21:43]<dffnw>sh log though
[21:44]<vm-wjzc>i have opened 67/68 udp btw with no luck.
[21:44]<fnajcnz>i have not any prompt
[21:44]<vm-wjzc>i have all of IP opened up in that ACL to think of it
[21:44]<dffnw>UDP 0.0.0.0:68 -> 255.255.255.255:67
[21:44]<vd2r>dhcp uses a lot of UDP
[21:44]<vd2r>so you're going to have to have that in the acl.
[21:45]<mzcrv>ok better yet, where can I find older versions of firmware
[21:45]<vm-wjzc>ok, but still, all of IP is opened up in that ACL
[21:46]<fjsvnf>drkat: If you're on windows use CiscoWorks WLSE, if you're on any of the unices unload your module and build the new one.
[21:46]<vd2r>what does the acl look like?
[21:46]<mzcrv>postel : I dont want to upgrade firmware I want to roll back. my aironet doesnt work with knoppix-std
[21:47]<mzcrv>knoppix forums mention a firmware issue between 5 and 4
[21:47]<vm-wjzc>well on the interface: ip helper-address 10.7.3.2 ; ip access-group 102 in ; and on the acl; access-list 102 permit ip any
[21:48]<vm-wjzc>as soon as I remove the ip access-group 102 in, everything works....
[21:50]<fjsvnf>drkat: CiscoWorks WLSE allows downgrading of firmware and a CCO account would give you access to the firmwares here http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/pub/MDFTree.x?butype=wireless
[21:53]<dzzc1lyvn>ohh
[21:53]<dzzc1lyvn>dshot:
[21:53]<dzzc1lyvn>it's 00:00:5e
[21:54]<vd2r>sounds like xerox off of the top of my head.
[21:57]<vd2r>nope wrong. it's USC Information Sciences Inst whoever that is.
[22:18]<gndyvx>0100.5e is multicast
[22:20]<dzzc1lyvn>yea
[22:21]<dzzc1lyvn>what the multicast addy for vtp?
[22:24]<gndyvx>i didn't know vtp was mutlicast
[22:25]<jnfnwzllnzcn>vtp is strange
[22:25]<jnfnwzllnzcn>packets get sent in some weird vlan
[22:26]<gndyvx>uh 1
[22:26]<jnfnwzllnzcn>what if you change the native vlan ?
[22:26]<gndyvx>then vtp will break
[22:26]<gndyvx>well vlan 1 will get tagged
[22:26]<gndyvx>and everthing is good
[22:26]<jnfnwzllnzcn>?
[22:26]<gndyvx>me loads ethereal
[22:29]<gndyvx>if you change the native vlan from 1, 1 now becomes a tagged vlan
[22:29]<jnfnwzllnzcn>so vtp packets get tagged ?
[22:30]<dzzc1lyvn>thta I didn't know also
[22:30]<dzzc1lyvn>on our network
[22:30]<dzzc1lyvn>we changed out native vlan
[22:30]<dzzc1lyvn>I wondered why..
[22:30]<gndyvx>ti could be to have link local native vlanning
[22:31]<dzzc1lyvn>hmm.
[22:31]<dzzc1lyvn>link ?
[22:32]<jnfnwzllnzcn>ti ?
[22:33]<[mzvzyw]>On a hub and spoke frame relay config, can I limit the spoke's bandwidth at the hub router?
[22:33]<gndyvx>ti was a typo
[22:34]<jnfnwzllnzcn>[Matrix]: you can limit what gets through the hub
[22:34]<jnfnwzllnzcn>but the spoke could send more
[22:34]<jnfnwzllnzcn>you need to ask the frame relay carrier
[22:37]<dzzc1lyvn>hmm
[22:37]<dzzc1lyvn>Floor3#show policy-map videopolicy
[22:37]<dzzc1lyvn>Policy Map videopolicy
[22:37]<dzzc1lyvn>class videoclass
[22:37]<dzzc1lyvn>set ip dscp 46
[22:37]<dzzc1lyvn>police 5000000 8192 exceed-action drop
[22:43]<gndyvx>VTP/CDP/DTP/PAgP/UDLD aparently all use 01:00:0c:cc:cc:cc as a destination addreess
[22:43]<gndyvx>and it is multicast
[22:44]<gndyvx>and it runs on vlan 1
[22:44]<gndyvx>aparently I was doing ISL :P
[22:44]<jnfnwzllnzcn>so they all become tagged when changing native vlan ?
[22:44]<-- dvxn|syzzzyus xzs>http://www.bagdadsoftware.de")
[22:44]<jnfnwzllnzcn>nice
[22:45]<jnfnwzllnzcn>what happens if you have 2 switches facing eachother ?
[22:45]<jnfnwzllnzcn>one with native vlan 10, one with native vlan 1
[22:45]<jnfnwzllnzcn>does it work ?
[22:47]<gndyvx>sorta
[22:47]<gndyvx>vtp won't
[22:47]<gndyvx>frames on vlan 1 will apear on vlan 10 (and visaversa
[22:48]<vd2r>http://www.flukenetworks.com/us/LAN/Handheld+Testers/OptiView/Overview.htm <-- these are neat.
[22:50]<gndyvx>my network is awesome
[22:50]<gndyvx>I made my port a trunk port and starting sniffing
[22:50]<dzzc1lyvn>this is funny
[22:50]<dzzc1lyvn>lol
[22:50]<dzzc1lyvn>rspan
[22:50]<dzzc1lyvn>will you get anything ?
[22:51]<dzzc1lyvn>ohh you will see all the vlans :P
[22:51]<dzzc1lyvn>check this nemith
[22:51]<dzzc1lyvn>Switch#sh spanning-tree vlan 1
[22:51]<dzzc1lyvn>Spanning tree instance for vlan 1 does not exist.
[22:51]<gndyvx>I got all the SMTP traffic, All the SSL traffic to the OWA servers, un authenticated OSPF traffic
[22:51]<dzzc1lyvn>how can this be?
