[09:08]<sazdn>i read somewhere you need a "recent" version of the bootloader to use ATA flash instead of linear flash
[09:08]<znmwzzms1q1>I would lean towards no...
[09:11]<sazdn>there is one way to try but i cant find my pcmcia cf adapter anywhere
[09:14]<sazdn>somethings say yes, somethings are ambigious
[09:14]<sazdn>ambiguous
[09:19]<sazdn>http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/63/pcmciamatrix.html
[09:19]<mrxmjum>hi
[09:20]<sazdn>if im reading that correctly, the 3640 should beable to use a pc card ATA flash
[09:20]<znmwzzms1q1>Just wondering, what is this new routers job, what was it purchased for
[09:20]<sazdn>interoperability testing
[09:20]<sazdn>ive got 4 of them and i need one to be running the enterprise version
[09:21]<sazdn>8mb aint gonna cut it for the enterprise version
[09:22]<mrxmjum>hmmm wierd
[09:22]<mrxmjum>any alive bcmsn guys here?
[09:23]<znmwzzms1q1>lol, no it sure wont, it sounds like it should work, just gonna have to try it
[09:23]<sazdn>its just that i got a ton of that crap around already
[09:23]<sazdn>just cant find my damned pcmcia->cf adapter
[09:24]<mrxmjum>about GLBP (gateway load balncing protocol).. how does the switch know that it should forward a frame to the port connected to the AVF in case AVG is down?
[09:24]<mrxmjum>the switch which connects the two gateways and workstations all together
[09:31]<znmwzzms1q1>Mahmound, I believe it works like this, as soon as one router fales, then other will take its place with the virtual ip and mac pair, then as soon as a single frame is sent from the backup router the switch updates it's cam table
[09:31]<znmwzzms1q1>make sense?
[09:32]<znmwzzms1q1>am I missing the point of your question?
[09:33]<sazdn>Is this "IOSHunter" Program legal?
[09:36]<znmwzzms1q1>Don't think so, the illegality of it probably lies on behalf of the ftp servers hosting the images
[09:38]<sazdn>Whats the legal status of the IOS on a router you buy used?
[09:38]<sazdn>is the license transferred or what?
[09:40]<znmwzzms1q1>I don't know the specifics but it would stand to reason
[09:42]<sazdn>damn, i hope i can find an enterprise ios for this 3640 pretty cheap.. heh
[09:42]<sazdn>its gonna cost me 5X what i paid for the thing
[09:43]<znmwzzms1q1>check the torrent sites *wink* *wink*
[09:44]<sazdn>but that would be um illegal?
[09:45]<znmwzzms1q1>hmmm, that's what most ebay router dealers do, load up a pirated ios image, not to mention, if you have a CCO account with cisco you get them free anyway
[09:46]<znmwzzms1q1>but you have to have a CCIE or be a distributer
[09:47]<sazdn>or pay $$ in a support contract like i used to have
[09:47]<sazdn>with another company
[09:47]<sazdn>will a 3640 image run on a 3620?
[09:49]<znmwzzms1q1>don't know, you might be able to find the documentation on the cisco website to see
[09:49]<znmwzzms1q1>not sure if you have to have a CCO for that though
[09:49]<xzz2zzm>nope.
[09:49]<xzz2zzm>release notes will have it.
[09:52]<sazdn>the release notes will say what hardware it will run on?
[09:54]<sazdn>jeez all these routers i have have bypass config turned on
[10:04]<mw9>hi
[10:04]<sazdn>yto
[10:10]<rfy1g>hi i bought an NM-1FE1R2W for my 2620XM and the new network module wont load when the router boots. i'm getting an error about "Slot is empty or does not support clock participate" anyone have a suggestion how to get the module functioning?
[10:10]<sazdn>i just bought a 3640 that said that and i reseated it (NM-2E) and it was working
[10:11]<rfy1g>i'm running 128 dram and c2600-adventerprisek9-mz.124-7 so i dont think it's the ios level or lack of dram :/
[10:12]<rfy1g>i'm also not using the voice tdm functions for anything
[10:12]<rfy1g>that i'm aware of
[10:13]<rfy1g>Scrye, how did you reset your router? i know of a few different methods but perhaps what you did may work
[10:13]<sazdn>re seat
[10:13]<sazdn>took the card out and put it back in
[10:14]<rfy1g>i have a 2610xm also and the card produced the same error in that router with any ios bin i loaded
[10:14]<rfy1g>so just remove the card and reinsert it?
[10:21]<sazdn>the module is prolly dead then?
[10:22]<rfy1g>hehe might explain why i got it so cheap :/
[10:22]<rfy1g>i could still test it in my 3620 but i dont really want to shutdown my gateway router
[11:00]<mrxmjum>sending an email to my teacher, telling him that i will not attend the class today
[11:00]<mrxmjum>the topic is: Arriving college in multiple pieces
[11:01]<mrxmjum>some qouted text: I may not be able to come to college today, and if I do, I may arrive in multiple pieces rather than one. I'm awake from yesterday till the time I write this message. This increases the possibility of car accidents by 70%, and 90% up when returning home. In many countries they dont allow drunk people to driver cars, my case is similar to them since I'm too tired.
[11:01]<mrxmjum>I hope I'll break his heart
[11:03]<mw9>:)
[11:05]<rfy1g>hehe
[11:06]<rfy1g>well shucks... my new module's not supported on 2600's :/
[11:07]<cuzd>what is a smartport on a cisco switch?
[11:09]<rfy1g>not sure mate
[11:22]<mrxmjum>this shows that DRAM, TCAM, CAM are memories on separate chips http://www.cisco.com/image/jpg/en/us/guest/products/ps708/c1244/cdccont_0900aecd801e659f_0900aecd801e659f-2.jpg
