[17:20]<vzgfrgg_>modular POE switch? handle an oc3?
[17:20]<vzgfrgg_>handle switching at all
[17:20]<vzgfrgg_>stack 8 t1's on one network module
[17:20]<kz0gvr2>you walk into most large ISP's... and you'll find most are using Juniper for their high bandwidth connections.
[17:20]<vzgfrgg_>stack 4 ports on one network module
[17:21]<kz0gvr2>npow connecting their customers... you find their Cisco gear...
[17:21]<vzgfrgg_>Kr0ntab, I'm not debating that, I am debating the merits of the J series Junipers with the (1,2,3)8XX cisco's
[17:22]<cuvyncjmnz>trelane_: bah... not really my dealie... I'm with the big gear in the rear watching TBits of data flying through ;)
[17:23]<kz0gvr2>yeah I know... im just adding. The feature sets and performance of Cisco's multiservice routers are awesome.
[17:23]<cuvyncjmnz>and an RPR ring about to fuckup again
[17:23]<vzgfrgg_>then why would you comment on a cat 5500 which isn't even close to an infrastructure component
[17:23]<vzgfrgg_>Kr0ntab, they're so far past best in class it's sad, I'd love to see Juniper come out with a competitor
[17:23]<vzgfrgg_>I do think Juniper can do it better, but they havn't
[17:24]<cuvyncjmnz>trelane_: foundry does, jewniper can't yet
[17:24]<cuvyncjmnz>trelane_: comment was based on old memories and sledge hammer warfare
[17:25]<vzgfrgg_>CutieCoder, did you ever think that maybe if you didn't beat the delicate network equipment with a hammer you might not have had to go to war with it?
[17:26]<vzgfrgg_>I'm a huge fan of brute force but I've never met networking gear that responded well to it
[17:26]<cuvyncjmnz>trelane_: quite possible ;)
[17:26]<cuvyncjmnz>but my cow-workers loved the results ;)
[17:26]<crvpyvn>If you haven't used the CRS, it's unwise to pretend to be well-informed about the capabilities of carrier-class routers.
[17:26]<vzgfrgg_>so the jist of your point is that juniper/foundery make a better router/switch because their cabinets are 3/8" steel instead of 1/4"?
[17:27]<vzgfrgg_>and thus more able to be beat with a hammer
[17:28]<cuvyncjmnz>YES!
[17:28]<cuvyncjmnz>Exactly!
[17:28]<cuvyncjmnz>Plus I prefer the color ;)
[17:28]<vzgfrgg_>CutieCoder, you'll get no argument from me on color, though I've got a rack full of htem in the office I'm still not sure whether the routers I have are blue green or grey
[17:29]<cuvyncjmnz>haha
[17:29]<cuvyncjmnz>brb, need smokes ;)
[17:29]<cuvyncjmnz>poke nemith for me when he comes in :P
[17:39]<wusxy>hi all, anyone on linux and kde here reports any problem using konqueror to access the online CNAP material? mine keeps crashing when i try
[17:39]<[mzvzyw_]>sorry, run Winbloze on my laptop.
[17:39]<wusxy>doh.. lucky you
[17:40]<[mzvzyw_]>guess I could boot a SuSE live DVD and try it
[17:41]<kz0gvr2>xushi, have you tried using Firefox?
[17:41]<[mzvzyw_]>Hmm, if I could find my DVD drive for my laptop anyway
[17:41]<wusxy>well it's not really worth the trouble, but its just that i'm reporting alot of problems with it from the same points in the cnap.
[17:41]<wusxy>Kr0ntab: yes i did, but i moved from FF to konq. last month :)
[17:42]<wusxy>but i guess i'll have to use opera for the CNAP, and konq. for everything else
[17:42]<cuvyncjmnz>trelane_: the problem solving flowchart doesn't work her
[17:42]<cuvyncjmnz>s/her/here/
[17:42]<cuvyncjmnz>but my foot up your ass does ;)
[17:42]<kz0gvr2>hehe... and next month ... im guessing you'll be back to FF. :-P
[17:42]<cuvyncjmnz>Friendly fire? :)
[17:42]<wusxy>all bets welcome :)
[17:43]<vzgfrgg_>CutieCoder, I'm still thankful matrix chose the 5500, had the switch he dropped on me had the 3/8" steel casing I'd probably be dead
[17:43]<cuvyncjmnz>[Matrix_]: you fucked up, drop the GSR on him
[17:43]<[mzvzyw_]>Pfft, whatever, I can't afford a GSR
[17:43]<[mzvzyw_]>but I have plenty of 5500's laying around
[17:44]<kz0gvr2>xushi, you using latest KDE?
[17:44]<wusxy>Kr0ntab: yep, 3.5.2
[17:44]<kz0gvr2>looks quite polished these days...
[17:44]<wusxy>with konq. 3.5.2
[17:44]<gndyvx>back
[17:44]<vz2ufzzzsz>not Dark3Lite anymore?
[17:44]<cuvyncjmnz>don't hurt my nemith, or you shall die ;)
[17:44]<gndyvx>heeh
[17:45]<cuvyncjmnz>or get bitched at... which would make you wish you died
[17:45]<[mzvzyw_]>so I'm curious, everyone says linux is faster, but from my experience linux GUI's are all pretty damn slow.
[17:45]<kz0gvr2>sup nemith
[17:45]<gndyvx>the latter sounds worse
[17:45]<gndyvx>hey Kr0ntab
[17:45]<vz2ufzzzsz>Enlightenment is fast
[17:45]<bsdrgdjg>hey tabularasa
[17:45]<vz2ufzzzsz>yo man
[17:45]<wusxy>with mine, it insists on crashing with http://pastebin.com/746823 on ccnp2 - chapter 11 (AAA). p.2
[17:45]<cuvyncjmnz>nemith: naw, there's always the third option... my AR-15 :)
[17:45]<bsdrgdjg>there was something i was looking for you for the other day, cant recall what lol
[17:45]<cuvyncjmnz>nemith: I tend to play with my prey
[17:46]<kz0gvr2>[Matrix], Linux is pretty fast... the GUI's however (just as in Windows) need to be fine tuned for performance, rather than eye candy
[17:46]<[mzvzyw_]>makes sense. I have infinitely more experience with Windows than I have with Linux GUI's.
[17:47]<[mzvzyw_]>my Windows is tight.
[17:47]<kz0gvr2>hehe
[17:47]<kz0gvr2>have you tried IE 7 beta 2?
[17:47]<[mzvzyw_]>Not in XP. I tried it in Vista.
[17:47]<[mzvzyw_]>Vista Beta 2 blows, btw.
[17:47]<kz0gvr2>its pretty darn awesome.
[17:47]<bsdrgdjg>I use Fluxbox, because basically when you install it, there is nothing there. you have to add the things you want, rather than trim it down like most GUIs
[17:47]<kz0gvr2>hehe
[17:47]<kz0gvr2>yeah i know
[17:47]<gndyvx>BSDaemon: you would
[17:48]<kz0gvr2>im wating until feature complete is out in November (haha so they say)
[17:48]<vz2ufzzzsz>thats like Enlightenment
[17:48]<gndyvx>xfce is fast, useable and perdy
[17:48]<bsdrgdjg>I'll take that as a compliment, thanks nemith
[17:48]<gndyvx>E16 is nice too
[17:48]<vz2ufzzzsz>ive been using IE7 B2 for a while now
[17:48]<gndyvx>still haven't tried e17
[17:48]<kz0gvr2>BSDaemon, i agree. I've actually been a WindowMaker fan myself..
[17:48]<bsdrgdjg>xfce is what im using at work, just because I didnt want to spend a whole day just adding crap
[17:48]<vz2ufzzzsz>ive heard sweet things about e17
[17:48]<bsdrgdjg>I cant handle windowmaker, its all boxes
[17:48]<vz2ufzzzsz>[Matrix]: Vista woas? HA
[17:49]<vz2ufzzzsz>same shit i was bitching about?
[17:49]<kz0gvr2>tabularasa, ie7 is hands down a fantastic browser...
[17:49]<vz2ufzzzsz>I use IE7 cause the tabs, and our stupid ticket system wont work in Firefox
[17:49]<[mzvzyw_]>No, I actually ran it on my laptop for a few days. It's just slow though.
[17:49]<kz0gvr2>heh I get rid of the boxes BSDaemon hehe
[17:49]<gndyvx>tabularasa: check out ietab
[17:49]<vz2ufzzzsz>ive had 0 problems with it, it hasnt even crashed yet
[17:49]<kz0gvr2>I cant stand them either
