[16:48]<[mzvzyw]>...a DUMBASS immoral corrupt motherfucker.
[16:48]<[mzvzyw]>but anyway. :-p
[16:49]<vz2ufzzzsz>yeah, politics sucks
[16:49]<vz2ufzzzsz>lets string em all up with cat6
[16:49]<rered_ydl>:D
[16:49]<vz2ufzzzsz>hows that for a subject change. :)
[16:50]<vz2ufzzzsz>cat6 would make a nice noose
[16:50]<txncjls>Someone already did dual NAT ? I'm trying to do a fail-over interface on a 1721, and I'm having problem with NAT support on these two interface
[16:51]<vd2r>he's not dumb. he just sucks at extemperaneous speaking.
[16:55]<vd2r>they put you on national tv with an audience of millions and you might flub some words too.
[17:03]<gndyvx>new york is prety freaking cool
[17:04]<vz2ufzzzsz>business trip?
[17:04]<gndyvx>aye
[17:04]<vz2ufzzzsz>cool
[17:04]<slggsgz>heh
[17:04]<slggsgz>i went once
[17:04]<slggsgz>no way I want to go back
[17:04]<slggsgz>Seattle was cool though
[17:04]<gndyvx>sitting in a telco closet
[17:04]<vz2ufzzzsz>heh, nice
[17:04]<slggsgz>heh, no place like home (the telco closet)
[17:05]<gndyvx>theses guys can wire power, fiber, everthing really nice
[17:05]<gndyvx>but give them ethernet and they just let is all hang out
[17:05]<vz2ufzzzsz>lol
[17:06]<vd2r>here's what I hate. when different people run the shit and they use different lengths of cables, or the cable is far too long for what they need.
[17:06]<vz2ufzzzsz>i hate that too
[17:07]<vz2ufzzzsz>but then, where i used to work, we never had enough cables, or rj45 ends to make custom cables
[17:07]<vz2ufzzzsz>so, we had to put 20' calbes in a rack
[17:09]<gndyvx>gotta say i don't think i'll drive tomorrow
[17:11]<vz2ufzzzsz>back to CO ?
[17:14]<gndyvx>no
[17:14]<vd2r>I generally don't have the time to make custom cables
[17:14]<gndyvx>i am in a hotel in jersey city
[17:14]<gndyvx>and i drove into mahattan
[17:14]<vz2ufzzzsz>gotcha
[17:33]<bsdrgdjg>w0rd
[17:37]<gndyvx>anyone rememer how to get a user list in irssi
[17:37]<gndyvx>besides the long who output
[17:39]<j2rgvr_> /sc ?
[17:39]<j2rgvr_>or /names #channel
[17:39]<bsdrgdjg>mIRC 4 lyfe
[17:39]<j2rgvr_>(I don't use irssi, I use old school ircii and a script I got in 1994 :)
[17:43]<gndyvx>http://internetworkpro.org/go/autoneg
[17:43]<gndyvx>good doc
[17:52]<bsdrgdjg>nemith: is DHCP snooping used when you want to disable a switch port until a valid DHCP transaction has taken place with a trusted DHCP server?
[17:54]<gndyvx>not really
[17:54]<bsdrgdjg>I see.
[17:55]<gndyvx>it sets up trusts for dhcp
[17:55]<gndyvx>and deny's any DHCPOFFERs from untrusted ports
[17:55]<bsdrgdjg>ah.
[17:55]<bsdrgdjg>thats not at all what i was looking for.
[17:55]<gndyvx>it also builds a dhcp table
[17:56]<gndyvx>and can be used for ARP snooping
[17:56]<bsdrgdjg>guys here told me to look into DHCP snooping to do as I said earlier.
[17:56]<gndyvx>to prevent a port from arping an address that it doesn't have
[17:56]<gndyvx>dhcp + arp snooping may in fact work for you
[17:56]<bsdrgdjg>Really... can you explain?
[17:57]<srd-i-rd>meh
[17:57]<srd-i-rd>whats up my nerdlets
[17:58]<bsdrgdjg>ah, you know.
[17:59]<gndyvx>what are you trying to do?
[18:00]<bsdrgdjg>Basically... clients' ports will be shut down, unless that switch port has seen a DHCPOFFER coming from the specified DHCP server. Basically if you didnt get an IP from -US-, you don't get on the network at all.
[18:01]<vd2r>sweet. the programmers here seem to be willing to make me an IP addy mgmt app, db and web frontend.
[18:02]<vd2r>nemith: a few months ago we had a rogue dhcp server that dropped a whole vlan.
[18:02]<gndyvx>yeah
[18:02]<gndyvx>i've had it happen a couple of times
[18:07]<[mzvzyw]>Yeah, I had some idiot clients buy wireless routers and plug them into their network, crippling themselves, lol
[18:08]<[mzvzyw]>"Hey, lets get a few HOME routers and plug them into our corporate network! :P
[18:10]<lr2_>username admin privilege 15 secret 5 password
[18:10]<[mzvzyw]><.<
[18:10]<lr2_>why wont it let me add that in saying you need to use unencrypted password?
[18:10]<[mzvzyw]>try removing the 5
[18:10]<sdac2jd>Alright Matrix - I am off to see how well I can make your help last night work
[18:11]<[mzvzyw]>cool
[18:11]<sdac2jd>do I need to bring to Serial 0/1 Interface Down?
[18:11]<[mzvzyw]>remove its IP and then shut it down
[18:11]<vrdl9w>matrix but i want my password to be encrypted
[18:11]<[mzvzyw]>turn on service password encryption
[18:11]<vrdl9w>oic
[18:12]<sdac2jd>This is going to make me sound like a retahd - but is there a specific command to bring just the 0/1 interface down?>
[18:12]<sdac2jd>man you canadians are so helpful! - THanks guys
[18:12]<[mzvzyw]>sickboy: just put a "no" in front of the IP address command
[18:13]<sdac2jd>And I am serious about buying beer if you ever make it to northern idaho
[18:13]<[mzvzyw]>like, if its "ip address 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0" then type "no ip address 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.0" to remove it
[18:13]<dffnw>regarding ospf network statements, do most people use a more general mask for all the networks they need advertised or do you define specific network statements for each subnet advertised?
[18:13]<[mzvzyw]>and then "shutdown"
[18:13]<[mzvzyw]>to shut it down
[18:13]<sdac2jd>no
[18:13]<sdac2jd>we need to remove the IP 0on that interface as well
[18:13]<[mzvzyw]>:-p
[18:15]<[mzvzyw]>ahh, I love the CatOS "log in within such and such time of booting and there is no password"
[18:16]<crvpyvn>mplex, the whole network-statement-based way of deciding which interfaces a routing protocol runs on is stupid. we've dropped in completely for IOS XR. the IS-IS model is more sensible. you can just use a network statement for each interface the protocol should run on, with a wildcard mask of 0.
[18:16]<dffnw>I'll be glad when the last catos device is out of here
[18:16]<[mzvzyw]>:O
[18:16]<[mzvzyw]>I lubs CatOS.
[18:18]<gndyvx>i hate you
[18:18]<vz2ufzzzsz>nice
[18:18]<vz2ufzzzsz>feel the love
[18:18]<dffnw>Catfive: that's essentially what I was thinking, but there's some debate on my team
[18:18]<gndyvx>i notived that OSPFV3 with ipv6 has it per interface
