[16:45]<[mzvzyw]>need beer.....
[16:52]<vd2r->I get out of work at beer:30 today
[17:00]<wgdw>its 9AM here and Im working from home... Im thinking I could have beer now :)
[17:04]<srd-i-rd>its not socially acceptable until noon, but who said we're social?
[17:13]<djzwzvnz>Let me ask you guys an odd theory question that I have been posing to myself
[17:13]<djzwzvnz>We're planning on deploying a Microsoft Virtual Server with about 40 hosts; i'm trying to figure out how I can monitor the bandwidth for each virtual server via the switch.
[17:13]<djzwzvnz>so there will technically be 40 servers running on a single nic
[17:17]<ald>hope it's a very nice nic
[17:18]<gndyvx>cause you are stupid
[17:18]<gndyvx>acutally they don't show up for me if i use firefox
[17:18]<gndyvx>really weird
[17:18]<vd2r->run dot1q to the server and put each server on a different vlan, you could monitor the traffic per server that way pretty easily
[17:19]<gndyvx>DogWater: well you can run netflow and use the ip address as how to monitor it
[17:19]<gndyvx>FBH^^: yeah.. i thought so
[17:19]<gndyvx>FBH^^: did you get your contact attached to your profile?
[17:19]<gndyvx>FBH^^: VPN Software :)
[17:20]<gndyvx>yeah.. or maybe it's the ciscoworks section
[17:21]<gndyvx>for downloads?
[17:21]<gndyvx>good luck
[17:22]<gndyvx>i can't remember my damn proxy info
[17:22]<gndyvx>or i'd help you out
[17:25]<gndyvx>you are we todd did
[17:26]<gndyvx>one is ftp, one is moving to the download page
[17:26]<gndyvx>and there is the initial login
[17:26]<gndyvx>nothing bad :)
[17:26]<gndyvx>just click "Save my password" and be done with it
[17:26]<gndyvx>(i am thinking of doing biometrics for my cco logins)
[17:27]<gndyvx>any whosim
[17:28]<gndyvx>no
[17:28]<gndyvx>but i've wanted to try
[17:28]<gndyvx>don't you need a websever or something
[17:42]<gndyvx>yeah
[17:42]<gndyvx>i think you always have to reboot
[17:42]<gndyvx>but if you can force it
[17:43]<gndyvx>who give a fuck
[18:03]<vd2r->tried to type wr and hit enter, out came r and enter. router hung up for a second and I freaked out. wtf did I just do. ambiguous command luckily
[18:04]<mzgsxvz>world cup started :) :) :)
[18:04]<vd2r->yeah a friend of mine is running a pool. I don't know enough to put any money on it though
[18:05]<gndyvx>what command is 'r'
[18:06]<[mzvzyw]>ambiguous
[18:06]<gndyvx>ah
[18:06]<[mzvzyw]>that'd be funny if it was reload though
[18:06]<gndyvx>yeha
[18:10]<vd2r->a guy did "show blah" from config int (which was a trunk). wound up shutting trunk
[18:10]<vz2ufzzzsz>show blah? wow, didnt know that command either
[18:11]<vd2r->it was show something. I don't remember the something
[18:12]<[mzvzyw]>just use show tech-support. That basically prints everything. :)
[18:12]<gndyvx>he probably did 'sh blah'
[18:12]<gndyvx>which came to shut
[18:12]<[mzvzyw]>that'd be an awesome command
[18:12]<gndyvx>show tech nopage
[18:17]<wusnz>nemith: shouldn't 204.97.199.1 live in my ISP router?
[18:19]<gndyvx>no
[18:20]<gndyvx>and i used traceroute
[18:21]<czuczzf>I'm a hero.. I just shutdown my clients production server..
[18:21]<czuczzf>dumbass...
[18:21]<gndyvx>heh
[18:21]<gndyvx>i've done that
[18:22]<gndyvx>took down RMCF's only SQL server
[18:22]<vz2ufzzzsz>i think we all have
[18:22]<wusnz>me too.
[18:22]<vz2ufzzzsz>remotely even.... restart slips to shutdown... FUCK!
[18:22]<czuczzf>I had two terminal windows open.. and i shutdown the wrong one
[18:22]<ald>whoops!
[18:22]<gndyvx>yeah
[18:22]<vz2ufzzzsz>heh
[18:22]<wusnz>i took down our nat server, more than 200 pc's behind it.
[18:22]<gndyvx>i phsyically hit the wrong power button
[18:22]<vz2ufzzzsz>heh
[18:22]<czuczzf>whew.
[18:23]<ald>my latest fun, was 'upping' on a bash shell, on a very very loaded machine, and accidently hitting "enter" before I knew what was going to evetually pop onto the command line.
[18:23]<ald>As luck would have it,
[18:23]<ald>shutdown -h now
[18:23]<gndyvx>doh!
[18:24]<czuczzf>hah
[18:24]<ald>yeah, it sucked,
[18:24]<czuczzf>its amazing how much sweat my body can generate over the course of 60 seconds
[18:24]<gndyvx>yeah
[18:24]<gndyvx>like the time i erases my schools website
[18:24]<czuczzf>I was having a nice leisurely comfortable day ... then BLAM
[18:24]<gndyvx>erased
[18:25]<gndyvx>no backups
[18:25]<ald>heh
[18:25]<czuczzf>haha
[18:25]<czuczzf>Thats good
[18:25]<gndyvx>of course
[18:25]<djzwzvnz>the web developer has overwritten my php code about a dozen times by not checking stuff out/in in dreamweaver
[18:25]<ald>There was the day, (in the day of slow sun boxes) the fellow in the 'other room' started screaming, KILL THAT RUNING RM, PLEASE
[18:25]<djzwzvnz>thats why I shadowcopy every 30 minutes now
[18:25]<czuczzf>The worst part is... I was the one who set up Nagios.. so when the server went down, Nagios sent an email to the whole team saying 'Carl shut the server down'
[18:25]<gndyvx>yeah in netscapes enterprise webserver
[18:26]<gndyvx>if you delete a virtual server (host headers) you delete the whole site and directory below it
[18:26]<czuczzf>nemith: hah.. good to know
[18:26]<2zdsnpzz>nemith: Why netscape web server?
[18:26]<djzwzvnz>who uses netscape web server
[18:26]<djzwzvnz>lol
[18:26]<gndyvx>i hate when your monitoring servers taddle on you
