[16:12]<g0vrrrygn>then im glad i have 2.0
[16:14]<gjwna|>hehe
[16:15]<gjwna|>well, you could always .Trim(';') the string if you didn't have it (:
[16:38]<g0vrrrygn>nowec|,yeh, true that
[17:14]<svzz[wjzc]>hey guys in VB there was a "With" block, and in that block you had just to use .Property to access the property of the given item ex. With MyRecordset: .Open vSql, CN : .Close : end With (colons are line breaks) is there such structure in C# ?
[17:14]<zzyrzjm>no
[17:15]<svzz[wjzc]>okay, too bad, thank you
[17:24]<snnsxzzl>did i miss something?
[17:25]<fyfuym-syfggag>beer?
[17:25]<snnsxzzl>nah, anything c# related?
[17:25]<fyfuym-syfggag>eh no
[17:25]<snnsxzzl>i have a supply, don worry ;)
[17:25]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>yeah microsoft have announced they are dropping c# in favour of java
[17:25]<fyfuym-syfggag>I got a new laptop
[17:25]<fyfuym-syfggag>:S
[17:25]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>what did you get?
[17:25]<fyfuym-syfggag>toshiba owns
[17:26]<snnsxzzl>dual core
[17:26]<snnsxzzl>?
[17:26]<fyfuym-syfggag>yar
[17:26]<fyfuym-syfggag>1gb ram
[17:26]<snnsxzzl>whats the cpu speed?
[17:26]<fyfuym-syfggag>ati graphics
[17:26]<fyfuym-syfggag>1.8 core duo
[17:26]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>mwuhahaha
[17:27]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>fear my 2.0ghz Dual Core 2gb X1600 :p
[17:27]<fyfuym-syfggag>I like it
[17:27]<fyfuym-syfggag>hehe
[17:27]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>what hd you get?
[17:27]<fyfuym-syfggag>160GB
[17:27]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>:o
[17:27]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>okay, you own me there.
[17:27]<snnsxzzl>umm, does 1.8 duo equate to like 3.6 Ghz ? or is that a myth ?
[17:27]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>100GB here
[17:27]<fyfuym-syfggag>and a dual layer dvd writter
[17:27]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>SeeSharp, my 2.0ghz runs WoW great and benchmarks outperform 3.8ghz p4 ee
[17:28]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>except for fp
[17:28]<fyfuym-syfggag>this is on par with a 3.2 dual core
[17:28]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>the dual cores are amazing
[17:28]<fyfuym-syfggag>damieng-work you got the dothan processor?
[17:28]<snnsxzzl>hmm i see
[17:28]<snnsxzzl>congrats :)
[17:28]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>errr, Core Duo 2.0
[17:28]<fyfuym-syfggag>they say its the fastest gamming pc
[17:28]<fyfuym-syfggag>mine is dothan
[17:28]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>well the amd 64 4800 seems to out-bench it
[17:29]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>oh you've gone amd chip?
[17:29]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>oh pentium m
[17:30]<scyl>I am at a point where I don't longer care about ghz. For me RAM is more important atm
[17:30]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>well then you want 64-bit
[17:31]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>unless you like 2gb per app max and 4gb per machine max.
[17:32]<fyfuym-syfggag>I got pentium mobile
[17:34]<fyfuym-syfggag>brb
[17:34]<fyfuym-syfggag>reboot
[17:34]<fyfuym-syfggag>fscking windows updates
[17:41]<snnsxzzl>how many of you would like to indulge in a new open source project?
[17:43]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>well there's the vagues invite of them all.
[17:43]<snnsxzzl>?
[17:44]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>yeah me me i'd like to join an unnamed undescribed open source project
[17:44]<snnsxzzl>ok i get the point.
[17:44]<wyfaj>i've seen very few open source projects succeed, let alone those where people seek people through IRC to get some manpower :o
[17:44]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>heh
[17:45]<snnsxzzl>look, i have never been a part of a team of coders. This is my first time. I always wanted to do it, for the hobby. havent decided the project yet, but i am open to any suggestions
[17:46]<wyfaj>why not just contribute to existing projects?
[17:46]<wyfaj>for example contribute to Mono or whatever is hot these days ;)
[17:46]<snnsxzzl>hmmm
[17:46]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>subtext
[17:46]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>although the codebase is pants
[17:46]<wyfaj>that should get you some experience with the process, working together with others.. then it's easier to take the next step
[17:47]<wyfaj>s/next step/start something yourself
[17:47]<snnsxzzl>i see. thanks for that tip . :)
[17:47]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>ObjectProvider to ConfigProvider to DatabaseConfigProvider to SqlConfigProvider... and each one has a list of methods like GetBlogPosts that is override in the subclass... and no, there are no alternative providers at any level.
[17:50]<wyfaj>Apple Cinema HD Display (30" flat panel) [Add $2499]
[17:50]<wyfaj>hehe
[17:52]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>seems to me there are a sub-group of microsoft .net developers out there who think they write good enterprise level software because they abstract everything to 4 levels deep even when there is only one option for each level.
[17:53]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>but because they use words like provider, extender, addin, proxy etc in the class names it's somewhow amazing.
[17:54]<scyl>damieng-work: rofl
[17:54]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>it's true
[17:54]<scyl>i believe you
[17:55]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>even MS do it occasionally - the FMStocks ref app was god damn awful
[17:55]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>Personally i like to justify every class.
[17:55]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>and because it's nice, sounds right or maybe one-day just don't cut it.
[17:59]<mupmvz>is there a way to detect previous instance in a winforms application like vb6 app.previousinstance ?
[17:59]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>there is
[17:59]<mupmvz>happen to know what it is ?
[18:00]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>http://www.csharphelp.com/archives2/archive411.html
[18:00]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>or
[18:00]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>http://www.dotnet247.com/247reference/msgs/7/35098.aspx
[18:01]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>if using that second technique replace "Thisshouldonlyrunonce" with something like "MufDvrExplorer.SingleInstance"
[18:02]<mupmvz>well do :)
[18:02]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>i'd go with the mutex technique
[18:03]<mupmvz>that a looks a little cleaner
[18:04]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>the other techniques basically involve looping through the windows task list and trying to find a match
[18:04]<dzdyzzz-wjzc>which isn't guaranteed - if your app is named something like explorer.exe or launcher.exe :D
[18:05]<mupmvz>right; we ran into that problem on pocket pcs w/ that method
[18:07]<mupmvz>i wouldve thought theyd have thrown a function to this in an existing class
[18:09]<rgvjgys`> how do i execute the command for sql?
[18:09]<rgvjgys`>i make the connection, and what should i write next for command like "SELECT LastName FROM Users"
[18:11]<lnzzd->when i connect to irc server, and don't use recv() my connection is still grabbing the data. is there a way to prevent that while still being connected on the server (until ping timeout)
