[00:00]<rrvsndn>u have to have the password?
[00:00]<afnwyt>what class can i use to execute a python script in c#
[00:00]<azyfm>no, you give the permission to the *account*
[00:00]<azyfm>which is already logged on
[00:01]<azyfm>Alexi5: Assuming you already have Python.exe installed?
[00:01]<gjrvcxnne>how do I program in c#?
[00:01]<sdnffdxdlld>lol GoatCheez
[00:02]<gjrvcxnne>;-P
[00:02]<zu2>serialport1.open, if serialport1.bytestoread>0, valor=serialport1.readbyte , serialport1.close why doesnt work this stuff
[00:02]<zu2>could someone help me
[00:03]<gjrvcxnne>I need to write a program to manipulate real-life objects. I need one to pull back the tab on a diet coke, and then to pull it back the other way. It needs to be able to pour into different glasses afterwards as well. I assume this can be done in 10 lines without interfacing with any external devices because we all know that C# has telekinetic powers!
[00:04]<gjrvcxnne>man... i just wanna go home
[00:04]<sdnffdxdlld>I'm knackered and have lots to do tonight :/
[00:04]<rrvsndn>so the management app has to be running on the remote computer?
[00:04]<sdnffdxdlld>I wanna go to bed
[00:04]<azyfm>the management app runs whenever it needs to run
[00:05]<azyfm>*it* talks to the service, not the other way around
[00:05]<gjrvcxnne>System.Magic.Telekenesis.MoveObejct(this.x+10,this.y+10,this.z, this.x+100,this.y+10,this.z)
[00:05]<afnwyt>Arild:Python.exe is installed already
[00:05]<gjrvcxnne>pything script.py
[00:05]<gjrvcxnne>thas all right?
[00:05]<azyfm>Alexi5: Something like this, then: System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("C:\python24\python.exe", "script.py");
[00:05]<rrvsndn>yah but service doesnt have a UI?
[00:06]<azyfm>service no ui
[00:06]<azyfm>me tarzan you jane
[00:06]<gjrvcxnne>Arild: i believe so, yeah
[00:06]<afnwyt>thanks alot Alrid
[00:06]<afnwyt>thanks alot Arild
[00:06]<gjrvcxnne>dherpa doh... two people with similar names that begin with a.... me confused
[00:08]<zu2>i want to read values like 0 & 1 with my phototransistor serialport ?
[00:09]<sdnffdxdlld>rub have you varified that the hardware is working correctly
[00:10]<zu2>yeah
[00:10]<gjrvcxnne>0 & 1 == 0
[00:10]<zu2>only with multimeter
[00:11]<sxjaaajzn>when we do a custom class how can we setup events for it?
[00:11]<zu2>GoatCheez
[00:11]<gjrvcxnne>whats up
[00:11]<azyfm>public class Foo{ public event EventHandler FooHappened; ... }
[00:12]<gjrvcxnne>rub
[00:12]<sxjaaajzn>k
[00:12]<sxjaaajzn>and how to raise that even?
[00:12]<sdnffdxdlld>well find something to varify that the signal is going to the serial port then once you've ruled out hardware problems you know its in your code
[00:12]<azyfm>if ( FooHappened != null ) { FooHappened(this, EventArgs.Empty); }
[00:12]<azyfm>possible race condition in multithreaded code ^
[00:13]<sxjaaajzn>ok thanks
[00:13]<zu2>i dont understant
[00:14]<zu2>if my phototransistor send 12vols & 0 volts is equal 1 & 0 right, why serialport doesnt work yet
[00:15]<sdnffdxdlld>if you test that the signal is coming through then you'll understand if its your code or the hardware ...
[00:15]<sdnffdxdlld>its simple debugging ... a process of elimination
[00:15]<azyfm>Programming: the art of creating bugs
[00:20]<gjrvcxnne>that is the only valid conclusion when you realize that Debugging is the art of removing them ;-)
[00:25]<zu2>that is working my applicatiom but only f8 step by step, if i run my apps in my desktop doesnt work
[00:27]<kjr>rub: oscilliscope says it looks ok?
[00:27]<vufvuzn>define "doesn't work"..
[00:27]<kjr>if the wave is dirty, it'll trash the app
[00:27]<sdnffdxdlld>ello kog
[00:27]<kjr>sup smellyhippy
[00:29]<22vnax>Anyone have a recommendation on a book to get to learn .net (coming from a computer science degree with java)
[00:30]<kjr>bbtech: go read MSDN
[00:31]<wyfaj>.NET via C#
[00:31]<wyfaj>err, CLR via C# rather
[00:32]<zu2>i mean it doenst work under my pc, it only run in debugger mode
[00:32]<azyfm>they give out real degrees in Java now?
[00:32]<kjr>Arild: no, they don't give out degrees in Java, they give out degrees in Comp Sci
[00:33]<vynvyv>maybe debry does
[00:33]<azyfm>My, what will they think of next
[00:33]<vynvyv>i want to get a degree in perl
[00:33]<kjr>Arild: what does it matter what language you learn, as long as you understand the concepts of programming?
[00:33]<txnjzd>tieTYT: Really?
[00:33]<vynvyv>Theory: naw, php
[00:34]<azyfm>Kog: It might not have been immediately apparent, but I wasn't serious
[00:34]<txnjzd>I want a degree in "finding better alternatives to perl and php"
[00:34]<kjr>Arild: I sensed some sarcasm, but around here people seem to hate computer scientists... one can never be too sure
[00:34]<kjr>in?
[00:35]<azyfm>comp sci...
[00:35]<kjr>I'll assume your undergrad matches then ;)
[00:35]<azyfm>school system's a bit different here
[00:35]<kjr>Arild: it's perfectly valid... some universities don't call it comp sci - "information management" or "library information" systems
[00:35]<kjr>erm, my question that is
[00:35]<kjr>Arild: where is "here?"
[00:35]<azyfm>but I also have a bachelor's in "computer engineering"
[00:35]<azyfm>Norway
[00:36]<kjr>ah
[00:36]<kjr>CompE... wiremonkey
[00:36]<azyfm>heh
[00:37]<azyfm>they invented Simula at my faculty!
[00:37]<kjr>oh sweet, where should I send the bomb to?
[00:37]<azyfm>my thesis advisor wrote a Simula compiler back in 1980, kept talking about it
[00:37]<kjr>Arild: what was your thesis?
[00:38]<azyfm>here: http://ankhsvn.com/images/thesis/
[00:38]<kjr>refcounting in .net?
[00:38]<azyfm>yep
[00:39]<azyfm>my solution involved tagging reference counted types with a [ReferenceCounted] attribute
[00:40]<kjr>I see that
[00:40]<kjr>6.3
[00:40]<kjr>I skipped straight down to "what's missing" heh
[00:41]<kjr>I'm not sure how I fel about attribute tags and their increased usage... seems ugly
[00:41]<wyfaj>attributes rock
