[13:52]<kjr>rikkus: a lot of people can't seem to figure out how to compile for 1.5, which is why portage has it hard masked

[13:53]<kjr>rather - my recommendation on a new install is Java5+, unless the software says otherwise
[13:53]<zyccus>if I do 'emerge search jdk' on my gentoo box, it only shows 1.4.x, yep

[13:56]<kjr>AqD: it looks like the gentoo wiki has something for XGL/Compiz... it looks rather hackish, and there doesn't seem to be XGL in portage (according to gentoo-portage.com anyway, i'm in windows right now)
