[20:55]<vj2nxe>anyways, i like programming for free
[20:55]<vj2nxe>and doing support for $$
[20:55]<gjrvcxnne>fuck the RIAA and MPAA
[20:56]<fyfuym-syfggag>the only reason why windows on this box is legal is because it came with the boxen
[20:56]<gjrvcxnne>they are money grubbing whores who don't even share the profits with the real artists
[20:56]<fyfuym-syfggag>tobehz you got experience in datagrids / datatable
[20:56]<vj2nxe>minimal experience with datatables
[20:56]<gjrvcxnne>the closest i've come to buying a cd in the last 6 years is going to live shows
[20:56]<vj2nxe>no experience with datagrids
[20:57]<kuggys>GoatCheez I go to small indepent artists and buy their CD's... I know that they are getting about $12 outa the $15 I give em.
[20:58]<kuggys>GoatCheez Everyone else... riaa? screw em.
[20:58]<gjrvcxnne>:-)
[20:58]<gjrvcxnne>I haven't gone to the theatre in like....
[20:58]<gjrvcxnne>hmmm
[20:58]<gjrvcxnne>gotta think about this one..
[20:59]<gjrvcxnne>the last lord of the rings is the last movie i saw in the theatre i think... and go figure why i haven't gone back ;-P
[20:59]<gjrvcxnne>who wants to watch 20 minutes of scenery
[20:59]<gjrvcxnne>(at the end)
[21:00]<gjrvcxnne>longest crappiest most drawn out ending of any movie EVER
[21:00]<gjrvcxnne>i'm glad i downloaded ultraviolet and aeon flux as well... had i seen them in the theatre i probably would've started shooting people
[21:01]<gjrvcxnne>hollywood blames the consumer for not making enough money, but it's them that are loosing fans because of the CRAP they create
[21:01]<gjrvcxnne>in the late 90's i went to the movies once a week
[21:01]<gjrvcxnne>and they were good moveis
[21:01]<gjrvcxnne>nowadays, it's lastyears blockbuster 3
[21:02]<gjrvcxnne>or some movie you've already seen with vince vauhn and jon favreau
[21:03]<kuggys>Yeah, I have access to the entire internet's worth of stolen movies... and what have I watched lately? Zilch.
[21:04]<gjrvcxnne>Puff, Puff, Pass was good
[21:04]<gjrvcxnne>so was Grandma's Boy
[21:04]<gjrvcxnne>i was surprised...
[21:04]<gjrvcxnne>V for Vendetta was.... not bad.... not GOOD, but definitely not bad....
[21:06]<gjrvcxnne>If anything, hollywood is learning that DVD sales are where the real money is at
[21:06]<gjrvcxnne>I still buy DVDs
[21:06]<gjrvcxnne>the TV industry knows that.... which is why every show you can watch on TV you can now buy a season of on DVD
[21:07]<gjrvcxnne>ok...
[21:07]<gjrvcxnne></rant>
[21:08]<txnjzd>the real money is in bringing out a new format every 5 years
[21:08]<txnjzd>so people have to rebuy everything
[21:10]<gjrvcxnne>right... which is why HD-DVD and BluRay are coming this year
[21:10]<gjrvcxnne>although it's more like every 8-10 years
[21:11]<gjrvcxnne>lol
[21:11]<txnjzd>GoatCheez: notice how the lifecycle of each media is getting progressively shorter?
[21:11]<gjrvcxnne>I'm rooting for..... Global Thermonuclear War
[21:11]<txnjzd>compare vhs and dvd
[21:12]<gjrvcxnne>technology is increasing at an exponential rate, so go figure
[21:12]<gjrvcxnne>if it were linear.....
[21:12]<kuggys>I don't think HD-DVD is going to take on very well... at least for a while.
[21:12]<gjrvcxnne>4-5 more years we will have discs that can hold over a terabyte
[21:12]<gjrvcxnne>eh.... 5-6
[21:12]<gjrvcxnne>(cd-like disks)
[21:13]<gjrvcxnne>sweet
[21:13]<gjrvcxnne>sweet sweet sweet release
[21:13]<gjrvcxnne>ahhhhh
[21:13]<gjrvcxnne>i fuggin HATE people... they're all a bunch of retarded monkeys
[21:15]<frufmd>are you spanking your monkey to midget porn over there or what
[21:18]<2uc>whats the equivalent of Javas "super()" in c#?
[21:18]<gjrvcxnne>base
[21:18]<2uc>thanks
[21:21]<d2>Hi. How do i represent "\\" in a string? i try to put \\ into a spring, but when i put the "" about, it ofcause take the \" as a escape charector, how to i prevent that?
[21:21]<d2> \\ is what i want represented
[21:22]<txnjzd>\\\\
[21:22]<d2>but then it still take \" as a escape char
[21:22]<txnjzd>no it won't
[21:22]<d2>ah lol ! :D
[21:22]<d2>I was the line before, which wassent closed
[21:22]<d2>Thanks
[21:22]<aauddygs>or @"\\"
[21:22]<d2>oki thanks
[21:26]<aauddygs>Any MSH users in here?
[21:28]<gjrvcxnne>http://www.groklaw.net/article.php?story=20060526105754880
[21:28]<gjrvcxnne>w00t w00t!!!!
[21:29]<txnjzd>net neutrality?
[21:29]<gjrvcxnne>that's HUGE news for the company I work for (jpg.com)
[21:29]<txnjzd>oh, the jpeg patent :-)
[21:29]<gjrvcxnne>we might have grounds for a lawsuit ;-)
[21:30]<lnvnzxu>jcummins: i use it, somewhat
[21:30]<aauddygs>What are your impressions? I was thinking about trying it out
[21:31]<aauddygs>But since it's still in beta, I didn't know if I would be wasting my time.
[21:31]<lnvnzxu>i like it a lot and wish it was shipping in vista so that we could at least have a baseline to go from at the office, but i haven't really done that much with it yet personally
[21:31]<lnvnzxu>a few toy scripts
[21:33]<aauddygs>I watched the channel9 clip on monad. They showed off the excel-out thing where they were able to pipe output directly to an excel spreadsheet. I thought that was pretty sweet.
[21:33]<lnvnzxu>yeah, i also like the fact that you can extend any time with script in a .xml file
[21:34]<lnvnzxu>which is how you get the "unixy" looking Mode property on the FileInfo object, from an "ls"
[21:34]<aauddygs>cool
[21:35]<lnvnzxu>and providers are cool (registry, filesystem, what have you), script language is pretty easy to pick up, and it's quite easy to use with COM objects to (no more WSH)
[21:35]<aa-mggvjg>ah btw
[21:35]<aa-mggvjg>is vista supposed to ship with msh or command.exe?
[21:36]<aauddygs>I don't think vista will have msh
[21:36]<lnvnzxu>it was originally slated to be released with vista, but now i believe the delivery vehicle for "powershell" is an upcoming version of exchange
[21:36]<lnvnzxu>which is truly unfortunate
[21:36]<lnvnzxu>i'd rather they ship with RC1, than cmd.exe
[21:36]<aa-mggvjg>powershell?
[21:37]<lnvnzxu>the marketing name for monad
[21:37]<lnvnzxu>the horrible, horrible marking name for monad
[21:37]<aa-mggvjg>monad == msh/
[21:37]<aa-mggvjg>?
[21:37]<lnvnzxu>correct
[21:37]<aa-mggvjg>i installed vista
[21:37]<lnvnzxu>MSH (Microsoft SHell) was an interim name
