[12:34]<tdlnr>like Java
[12:34]<dyguw>MSIL is OO so of course C# is OO
[12:34]<drdyrrr>it has oo features yeah. classes, methods, properties, inheritence, interfaces....
[12:34]<tdlnr>which is harder C# or Java?
[12:34]<drdyrrr>Java doesn't have properties....
[12:35]<drdyrrr>Probably java.
[12:35]<mjzymygo>MSIL... isn't a 'pure' oop... but c# is a pure oop due to it's enforced rules
[12:35]<tdlnr>and doesn't Java require C/C++/C#?
[12:35]<dyguw>TypeR: Wtf?
[12:35]<mjzymygo>TypeR? what...
[12:35]<dyguw>TypeR: Who said?
[12:35]<drdyrrr>the primitive types in java are less predictable than .net's value types. the framework though powerful is less intuitive in many places (system.io excluded).
[12:35]<tdlnr>like to really get it running better
[12:35]<drdyrrr>no
[12:35]<mjzymygo>damieng: yeh, but it's more powerful...
[12:35]<tdlnr>well i guess i was misinformed
[12:35]<mjzymygo>TypeR... totally.
[12:36]<dyguw>TypeR: You don't know much about computers, do you?
[12:36]<tdlnr>i built my own computer
[12:36]<dyguw>hardware != software
[12:36]<tdlnr>i know
[12:36]<tdlnr>i never bother learning Java.
[12:39]<lyfuym-wjzc>Moridin8 you got time for a pm?
[12:39]<drdyrrr>Moridin8, watch out Liquid-Work will start cyber.
[12:40]<mjzymygo>damieng: it's a good job I don't have time then ;)
[12:40]<drdyrrr>"10TypeR: 01i built my own computer"
[12:40]<lyfuym-wjzc>Moridin8 no its actually more about progress bars
[12:40]<lyfuym-wjzc>:P
[12:40]<drdyrrr>Designed PCB's, wired up a memory bus through a memory select chip?
[12:40]<drdyrrr>or just opened some card board boxes and plugged things in together with the same level of skill required for DIY furniture?
[12:42]<zyccus>"They've crossed the power and the data lines!"
[12:42]<dyguw>TypeR: You're just silly, we're making fun of your stupidity. Can't you see?
[12:43]<drdyrrr>rikkus: "The chumps?"
[12:43]<tdlnr>yeah i know im sorry for being stupid
[12:43]<zyccus>damieng: something like that... was quoting The IT Crowd
[12:43]<drdyrrr>yeah thought so
[12:43]<drdyrrr>"Amateur hour or what"
[12:43]<zyccus>2 people watched it then
[12:43]<drdyrrr>minux, thats a bit harsh. I wouldn't say stupid, just young ;-)
[12:44]<dyguw>damieng; Age has nothing to do with it.
[12:44]<drdyrrr>rikkus, judging from bittorrent feeds of it i'd say more than 2.
[12:44]<dyguw>If age and knowledge is related, how come I coded C under Linux at age 12?
[12:44]<zyccus>well, my colleague did... and she tried very hard to point out the similarities between myself and Moss... and failed quite miserably, though there were a couple
[12:44]<drdyrrr>minux, somebody who says I built my own computer in a channel full of programmers is almost certainly < 18
[12:44]<zyccus>minux: it doesn't take much intelligence to write code... it takes some to write decent code, however
[12:45]<drdyrrr>rikkus, i've yet to bring my Memotech MTX512 in and act amazed when people don't get excited.
[12:45]<dyguw>rikkus: Yes, of course, but I don't think knowledge and age are related.
[12:45]<tdlnr>im only 20 >.>
[12:45]<drdyrrr>minux, it's not a knowledge thing, it's more of an attitude.
[12:45]<tdlnr>i have selected memory
[12:45]<zyccus>minux: knowledge and age usually are... intelligence and age usually not
[12:45]<dyguw>rikkus: Hmm, okay.
[12:46]<tdlnr>damieng>> how old r u?
[12:46]<drdyrrr>31
[12:46]<tdlnr>cool
[12:46]<mjzymygo>28
[12:46]<tdlnr>im onyl 20 im getting old too :'(
[12:46]<dyguw>19
[12:46]<zyccus>minux: well, I learn stuff as I get older, but I don't get any more intelligent - just wiser (a little, I think...)
[12:46]<drdyrrr>i'm just trying to work out where all the programmers > 40 go
[12:46]<zyccus>damieng: old git!
[12:46]<drdyrrr>:p
[12:46]<mjzymygo>damieng: contractors or management
[12:46]<drdyrrr>i wonder if they cull them
[12:46]<drdyrrr>contractor
[12:46]<dyguw>rikkus: Hehe, of course, you got wise enough to switch from Linux to Windows :)
[12:46]<zyccus>damieng: heart attacks
[12:47]<mjzymygo>funny famrs
[12:47]<mjzymygo>the USA
[12:47]<drdyrrr>this is my 6th year of contracting.
[12:47]<mjzymygo>4th
[12:47]<lyfuym-wjzc>ok so I have a module dialog with a progressbar on
[12:47]<lyfuym-wjzc>now I have on another form a fucntion this.LoadReportData()
[12:47]<lyfuym-wjzc>function even
[12:47]<tdlnr>god install DirectX is making my cpu slow
[12:47]<lyfuym-wjzc>how will I get the dialog to close once the data is loaded
[12:47]<lyfuym-wjzc>?
[12:48]<zyccus>send it an event?
[12:48]<mjzymygo>poke it hard with a stick until it goes away?
[12:48]<zyccus>Moridin8: I nearly spat water over my keyboard, thanks
[12:49]<dyguw>lol
[12:49]<lyfuym-wjzc>rikkus i am going to use a boolean
[12:49]<dyguw>TypeR: Okay, sorry for being harsh.
[12:50]<tdlnr>meh
[12:50]<tdlnr>don't worry about it
[12:50]<tdlnr>im used to it
[12:50]<mjzymygo>rikkus: hows the keyboard?
[12:50]<tdlnr>i accept your apology
[12:50]<dyguw>Liquid-Work: If it's a progress bar dialog, wouldn't this work: ShowDialog -> Loop: Load Data Part -> Update status -> do it again, loop end: Close Dialog
[12:54]<dyguw>Is there any general .NET channel on FreeNode?
[12:55]<dyguw>generic*
[12:57]<lcs>minux: here?
[12:58]<dyguw>Well, this is C# :) I don't think asking "Do you prefer C# or J#?" in here is quite recommended.
[12:58]<tdlnr>not many J# books
[12:59]<tdlnr>hey i am wonderinghow hard is it to write a dll?
[13:00]<sdz>depends on the environment
[13:00]<sdz>it's modifying one line of the .csproj in visual studio, though
[13:00]<tdlnr>i have VSTS
[13:00]<mjzymygo>J# is a vestigel Sun attempt at .NET before the backed out of the .NET thing way back in the beginning
