[13:30]<fyfuym-syfggag>erm sql management studio sucks
[13:30]<sjgvnc>Moridin8: There is a free application that adds intellisense to sql management studio
[13:30]<fyfuym-syfggag>I have been loooking for a replacement
[13:30]<mjzymygo>Liquid-Silence: don't talk out your butt
[13:30]<fyfuym-syfggag>sontek: I just pasted the link
[13:30]<mjzymygo>sontek: which one?
[13:30]<sjgvnc>SQL Prompt
[13:30]<mjzymygo>got it... it's buggy as fuck
[13:30]<sjgvnc>and I see that Liquid-Silence did paste the link up there ^^
[13:30]<fyfuym-syfggag>:)
[13:31]<sjgvnc>Its buggy because they want to give you a taste so when they offer the paid for version you'll buy it
[13:31]<fyfuym-syfggag>Linq will take care of that tho
[13:31]<mjzymygo>sontek: no... I won;t buy it because the sample is so fucking buggy.
[13:32]<mjzymygo>I have no faith in their products
[13:32]<fyfuym-syfggag>Moridin8: have faith in me
[13:32]<fyfuym-syfggag>:)
[13:32]<zyccus>giving me buggy software as a sample of what the 'full' version is capable of is not a good idea
[13:33]<sjgvnc>what is your guys favorite bug tracking software?
[13:33]<zyccus>sontek: mantis
[13:33]<mjzymygo>I share a bespoke system with my major client
[13:33]<mjzymygo>(presently)
[13:34]<fyfuym-syfggag>ems mssql manager is not bad
[13:34]<fyfuym-syfggag>from what I have seen
[13:34]<fyfuym-syfggag>note that I have not used it myself
[13:34]<fyfuym-syfggag>just saw some dude using it
[13:34]<fyfuym-syfggag>any guys
[13:34]<zyccus>nice review
[13:34]<fyfuym-syfggag>I need to sort some other dudes project out
[13:35]<fyfuym-syfggag>he broke I fix
[13:35]<fyfuym-syfggag>wtf
[13:35]<mjzymygo>Liquid-Silence: I sympathise
[13:35]<fyfuym-syfggag>Moridin8: same shit here
[13:35]<fyfuym-syfggag>I am thinking of just redoing it with nhibernate
[13:36]<mjzymygo>enjoy...;)
[13:36]<fyfuym-syfggag>Moridin8: I am going to watch a movie first
[13:36]<fyfuym-syfggag>to get some motivation
[13:36]<fyfuym-syfggag>:)
[13:36]<fyfuym-syfggag>heh
[13:36]<mjzymygo>Moridin8 wants to win the lottery and go buy and island away from idiotic shite contract developers...
[13:38]<rwyfcygs>I want a hobbit-hole
[13:38]<zyccus>I've written quite a few apps which lots of people have used... but if I want to make money, I need to do closed source Windows apps. The difficulty is finding a niche.
[13:38]<rwyfcygs>Just a fair stretch of agricultural land, running water, and a semi-subterranean dwelling with it's own power generation
[13:38]<rwyfcygs>rikkus: I hear you
[13:39]<mjzymygo>rikkus: I think all 'niche's' are pretty well covered now.
[13:39]<mjzymygo>=/
[13:39]<zyccus>that's the problem
[13:39]<rwyfcygs>I was thinking about some kind of revser charged SMS service ; I worked out if you could attract 1500 hits a day, you'd be making about £45k
[13:39]<mjzymygo>there is this big push on 'innovation' and i've yet to see anything
[13:40]<zyccus>every time I think "I know, I'll make xyz" - I find out either it's been done, or as I'm in the planning stage, someone else does it.
[13:40]<rwyfcygs>Problem is finding a something that fits in 160 chars, that 1500 people a day want access to, and is not a stupid "sweetie the chick" thing
[13:41]<zyccus>Moridin8: that's Microsoft's excuse word... they need to be able to 'innovate'
[13:42]<mjzymygo>it's not just M$ tho...
[13:42]<sdnffdxdlld>http://pastebin.ca/79430
[13:43]<rwyfcygs>I think it's just a reflection of the general patheticness of western society ; there are no niches left because all the "needs" have been covered and the rest of us are just wanking around looking for meaning in our lives....
[13:43]<sdnffdxdlld>muwahahahahaha
[13:43]<mjzymygo>=)
[13:43]<sdnffdxdlld>yeah awilkins, my life is meaningless boring and i hate it
[13:43]<mjzymygo>here here
[13:44]<mjzymygo>pass the narcotics
[13:44]<sdnffdxdlld>or maybe its because I'm not looking for meaning that I'm happy
[13:44]<sdnffdxdlld>errrr I was being sarcastic with the first comment ;)
[13:45]<sdnffdxdlld>well then why not find a better job?
[13:45]<cjmgrug>question > i have been learning C# and VS2k5 by myself at home. There are these courses with aptech like Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) and Microsoft Certified Professional Developer (MCPD). Are these 8 month courses worth going for? or is it possible to learn by ourselves and then give the exams only?
[13:45]<zyccus>awilkins: I hope you're getting paid well, at least
[13:45]<zyccus>CodeRun: some places want people with MS certifications. Whether you want to work for such places or not is your decision.
[13:45]<afd>CodeRun: those exams are useless
[13:45]<afd>CodeRun: M$'s cert has very little value
[13:46]<sdnffdxdlld>if you were complaining about being a refuge who couldnt get away I'd have sympathy ... complaining your bored in your job has an easy answer :P
[13:46]<rwyfcygs>Yes, I'm getting paid well. I'm still looking for other work. But I'm on a 3 month retariner, *sob*
[13:46]<rwyfcygs>*retainer
[13:46]<jlvydus>AqD: Depends on the institution/company
[13:46]<cjmgrug>right. I'm doing computer science at the moment. This MSXX is just side-courses..
[13:46]<mjzymygo>awilkins: you in the uk?
[13:46]<rwyfcygs>Yes
[13:46]<mjzymygo>awilkins: NHS IT?
[13:47]<rwyfcygs>You might think that, I couldn't possibly comment
[13:47]<zyccus>Microsoft Management Console has encountered a problem and needs to close...
[13:47]<zyccus>argh
[13:47]<mjzymygo>HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
[13:47]<zyccus>awilkins: omg
[13:47]<cjmgrug>quick , rikkus, goto run and type 'shutdown -a'
[13:47]<mjzymygo>hahaHAhahahAHHAHAHAHAHAAAAAHAHA *breath* HAHAHAHAHhahahahaaaahahahaha
[13:48]<zzcn>what happened?
[13:48]<zyccus>not really ;)
[13:48]<mjzymygo>awilkins: I hope you ain't too responsible for the current farce... =)
[13:48]<mjzymygo>:P
[13:48]<rwyfcygs>Nope, only been with the programme a year
[13:49]<cjmgrug>rikkus: if we dont have one of these certifications, and produce some sample projects to the employer, do they consider it?
[13:49]<mjzymygo>My wife and the staff she works with would have some VERY strong words for you... ;)
[13:50]<rwyfcygs>Moridin8: My wife is a Paediatrician and she thinks it's all a big pile of unmentionable too.
[13:50]<mjzymygo>*lol*
[13:50]<zyccus>CodeRun: I haven't tried that yet myself, but if I was hiring, I'd be _much_ more interested in sample code than qualifications
[13:50]<mjzymygo>the time it's takes her to do her work on the system has trippled.
[13:50]<cjmgrug>i see.. thats a relief
[13:50]<mjzymygo>(compared to the old system)
[13:50]<cjmgrug>i hope the rest of the world shares that opinion :p
[13:50]<mjzymygo>Didn't they even do proper use cases or useability studies?
[13:51]<zyccus>CodeRun: if you work for a big company, get them to pay for the qualifications while you're there.. otherwise I wouldn't bother. Check job adverts - you'll see that only about 1 in 20 asks for such qualifications
[13:51]<rwyfcygs>I think the problem is they fall in love with fancy GUI and forget that there is a reason that terminal based programs are still the norm in e.g. airline systems.
