[14:13]<zyccus>Moridin8: scroll back
[14:13]<sxdzz>Moridin8: 1. Yup!
[14:13]<mjzymygo>uh... k
[14:13]<sxdzz>Moridin8: 2. Kewl nick!
[14:13]<vyzusdjvnnv>i'll learn it lata
[14:13]<mjzymygo>cool.
[14:13]<zyccus>VirusDotNet: do some learning - it's not that hard to grasp the basics
[14:13]<sxdzz>VirusDotNet: I recommend www.w3schools.com
[14:13]<vyzusdjvnnv>i have the xml bible still in plastic
[14:13]<sxdzz>they have a great tutorial
[14:14]<vyzusdjvnnv>but its on version 1.0
[14:14]<vyzusdjvnnv>not 1.1
[14:14]<vyzusdjvnnv>or w/e the latest version is
[14:14]<sxdzz>VirusDotNet: 2.0?
[14:14]<mj-c>for quick start, it's better to go to asp.net quick start or something like that. Im sure they have xml examples
[14:14]<vyzusdjvnnv>*shrugs*
[14:15]<sxdzz>VirusDotNet: seriously.... w3schools.com.... 15 minutes, and you'll undestand most of the basics....
[14:15]<mj-c>1.o is dead officially (read "side by side assembly" :-))
[14:15]<vyzusdjvnnv>rigt now just basically focusing on asp.net and mssql05 then going to go to javascript then xml
[14:15]<vyzusdjvnnv>s/rigt/right
[14:16]<vyzusdjvnnv>cause i wanna use ajax soon ;)
[14:16]<mj-c>oh, it's atlas, no need to tweak javascript mess
[14:16]<vyzusdjvnnv>and ajax uses xml and js
[14:16]<mj-c>I love AJAX in ruby, it's a joy!
[14:16]<sxdzz>VirusDotNet: In my opinion, XML is a lower level 'technology' which is necessary for both asp and mssql (esp. 2005), as well as meaningful web-java
[14:16]<mjzymygo>Ajax... *lol*
[14:16]<mjzymygo>buzzwords... I love em'
[14:16]<zyccus>do-k: if only there were Atlas for 1.1
[14:17]<vyzusdjvnnv>lol
[14:17]<mj-c>xml is just a protocol to exchange data
[14:17]<zyccus>Moridin8: go on, give us your big list of technologies again
[14:17]<vyzusdjvnnv>when did ajax start?
[14:17]<mjzymygo>rikkus: nah.
[14:17]<mjzymygo>VirusDotNet: well, I was using stuff that is now called ajax around erm... 99?
[14:18]<mjzymygo>using a hidden frame within a frameset and some pretty dire Javascript
[14:18]<mj-c>ajax is for presentation layer, don't waste your time, be focused on the business logic, DAL. Ajax is for webmasters, with CSS and such
[14:18]<mj-c>it's easy to add it when the kernel of application done
[14:18]<vyzusdjvnnv>whats a good free xml editor?
[14:19]<zyccus>VirusDotNet: vim
[14:19]<mj-c>Altova :-)
[14:19]<vyzusdjvnnv>i don't have linux
[14:19]<mj-c>xmlspy
[14:19]<mjzymygo>VirusDotNet: the home edition of Altova's XML spy
[14:19]<mj-c>vim works in Windows, too
[14:19]<zyccus>VirusDotNet: vim doesn't just run in Linux
[14:19]<mjzymygo>xml spy is windows too
[14:19]<mjzymygo>very good
[14:19]<vyzusdjvnnv>i know but i hate vim
[14:19]<mj-c>the best xslt IDE is Maplesoft Xselerator, and for xml too
[14:19]<mj-c>but it's expensive
[14:20]<mj-c>debugging is awesome
[14:20]<mj-c>look, VS.NET 2005 is good for xslt, too :-)
[14:20]<mjzymygo>http://www.altova.com/download/xmlspy/free_xml_editor.html
[14:20]<vyzusdjvnnv>thank you
[14:20]<mjzymygo>np
[14:21]<fyfuym-syfggag>Moridin8: msn
[14:21]<fyfuym-syfggag>quick
[14:21]<mjzymygo>there..
[14:22]<vyzusdjvnnv>anyone use javascript?
[14:22]<mj-c>everybody, no matter how he hates it
[14:23]<mj-c>it's just DOM of browser objects and events
[14:23]<mjzymygo>VirusDotNet: yeh, on and off
[14:23]<vyzusdjvnnv>do you use a stand alone editor?
[14:24]<mjzymygo>no. I find Visual Studio good enough.
[14:24]<mjzymygo>especially with script debugging turns on
[14:24]<vyzusdjvnnv>it doesn't do indention right
[14:24]<mj-c>VS.NET 2005?
[14:24]<vyzusdjvnnv>and it lacks a few things in vs from what i used of javascript in it
[14:24]<vyzusdjvnnv>yeah
[14:24]<vyzusdjvnnv>i have team system edition
[14:25]<mj-c>do you use collaboration tool or prefer SVN?
[14:26]<mj-c>repository?
[14:26]<mj-c>I always hated SourceSafe and such -- it crashes
[14:27]<vyzusdjvnnv>me?
[14:27]<vyzusdjvnnv>i don't use either
[14:27]<mj-c>so, team edition is overkill a bit
[14:27]<vyzusdjvnnv>not really
[14:27]<mj-c>I use professional version
[14:28]<vyzusdjvnnv>i have professional and ts ;)
[14:28]<mj-c>one issue is enough to regret the whole life :-)
[14:30]<zyccus>VSS is fine if you're just 1 developer, don't go over about 2GB in your repository, and don't do branching or merging
[14:30]<mjzymygo>rikkus: never had an issue with source safe with a team of 10 developers.
[14:30]<zyccus>lucky boy!
[14:30]<mjzymygo>yeh... everyone says that ;)
[14:31]<mjzymygo>it gets to be a bastard when someone introduces a machine that doesn't share the same drive/directory structure as everyone else... then it's a total bastard
[14:31]<mjzymygo>but thats a localised issue
[14:32]<mj-c>I love SVN, and I use it for my email, for my home computer, for windows and for linux. It just works
[14:32]<mj-c>SVN is the same thing, like NUnit, NHibernate, that's why it's, per my opinion is better than team system
[14:32]<zyccus>Moridin8: We only have that problem here with VB6 projects
[14:33]<zyccus>We're probably moving to svn in the next few weeks... if I can persuade the boss
[14:33]<mjzymygo>uh.. SourceSafe with VB6 was a pig and half
[14:33]<zyccus>we have a new developer here who is also keen, so that's 2v1
[14:33]<mj-c>anybody loves Resharper?
[14:34]<zyccus>do-k: me
[14:34]<mjzymygo>me
[14:34]<mjzymygo>it's wonderful
[14:34]<mj-c>it's was a king for VS.NET 2003. I love it too. ADDICTIVE!!
[14:35]<mj-c>Ok, what about Borland Together UML plugin for $100?
[14:35]<mj-c>:-)
