[05:25]<awjzdd>peacceeee
[05:25]<awjzdd>and chaka works for microsoft.
[05:25]<awjzdd>see that means he is just a cubical monkey
[05:25]<zj2-wzc>Everyone has worked on a failed project, I had one developer tell me in 10 years he has never worked on a failed project, I almost called bullshit on him in the middle of the interview with others there. ;)
[05:25]<awjzdd>no one at microsoft knows his name..
[05:26]<awjzdd>he's just another guy.
[05:26]<awjzdd>ready to be replaced by some chinese kid that can name every prime between 1->10000 from memory.
[05:26]<awjzdd>rob-wrk: you should have.
[05:26]<rxrcr>jwormy, there isn't a single cubicle in this building
[05:26]<rxrcr>everyone just shares offices
[05:26]<awjzdd>chaka: :)
[05:27]<awjzdd>i also don't have a cubicle
[05:27]<awjzdd>i share an office with my bitch.
[05:27]<awjzdd>we have a window!
[05:27]<awjzdd>prime view of teh parkinglot :(
[05:27]<`d0>how nice
[05:27]<zj2-wzc>That is one of the things that did impress me about Microsoft, they do offices right.
[05:27]<`d0>excellent view
[05:27]<awjzdd>:) <-- when there is hot ass walking outside
[05:27]<`d0>I wish I have that view
[05:28]<rxrcr>jwormy, I'd give up my parking lot view for more whiteboard space :p
[05:28]<awjzdd>chaka: true dat..
[05:28]<awjzdd>chaka: i have 2 white boards in my office at home
[05:28]<awjzdd>and at work i have one ginormous one
[05:28]<cjmgrug>i'm doing comsci currently. Till date, i've always thought that i'd stick to the technical side of the company(engg/developer). But many people have said that, its much smarter to get into the management side later on. But wouldnt that mean, we would no longer be doing things we wanted to do , in the first place? (like a coder wants to code all his life...)
[05:28]<rxrcr>at home I have a glasstop coffee table that doubles as a whiteboard when I clear it off
[05:28]<zj2-wzc>hmm, need to finish up some async shit, need a beer.
[05:29]<rxrcr>stylish yet functional, fuck yeah
[05:29]<awjzdd>chaka: you write on it?
[05:29]<awjzdd>i have a glass computer desk
[05:29]<zj2-wzc>CodeRun: the management side of things is a soft skill, you either have it or you don't. it can kinda be learned, but it comes down to personality
[05:29]<rxrcr>ofcourse, when I need to flow things out
[05:29]<awjzdd>i'm sure there is glass under there somewhere
[05:29]<awjzdd>chaka: what do you write on it with?
[05:29]<rxrcr>Expo2 pens
[05:29]<cjmgrug>i see, rob-wrk
[05:29]<rxrcr>same as at work
[05:30]<rxrcr>any dry erase marker will work
[05:30]<rxrcr>visavis or whatever the hell else there are
[05:30]<awjzdd>red does not work
[05:30]<rxrcr>expo will work, except they smell like ass
[05:30]<rxrcr>expo2 == money
[05:30]<zj2-wzc>Its not that all coders want to be coders-4-life. I have a coworker leaving to go to sales, but he went off the deep Tony Robbins seminar taking end of things and has the personality implant to maybe make it work
[05:30]<rxrcr>anyway, I'm now 28 minutes late for leaving.. GF is gonna be pyst
[05:30]<rxrcr>later
[05:31]<awjzdd>chaka: black owrks!
[05:31]<cjmgrug>the main question thats always been bothered me is : Can a coder be a coder all his career and yet continue climbing the ladder, simultaneously? or does he have to give it up and sometime and move on with other 'boring' stuff(like management)?
[05:31]<zj2-wzc>I have these great Expo super fine tip markers, best I've ever found
[05:31]<awjzdd>CodeRun: depends on what ladder you start at the bottom of
[05:32]<cjmgrug>i thought there was 1 singleton ladder :p
[05:32]<awjzdd>you've obviously never read about the ladder theory.
[05:32]<zj2-wzc>Depends on where you are. if you work for companies with a dev ladder (dev, tech lead, architech, etc) then yes. If its dev->manager->vp->etc then not so much. It depends on what you really want to do in life
[05:33]<awjzdd>CodeRun: just find a job where you have FUN
[05:33]<awjzdd>CodeRun: i absolutly love my job..
[05:33]<awjzdd>CodeRun: seriously....
[05:33]<cjmgrug>thats really cool.. not many people love thier jobs..
[05:33]<awjzdd>CodeRun: i mean hey, the company is foobar but I love it
[05:33]<cjmgrug>or i should say, not many people are lucky enough to love thier jobs..
[05:34]<zj2-wzc>I really like the people I work with, one of the few places I've worked that I can say that, my boss trusts me, and he looks out for us.
[05:34]<awjzdd>CodeRun: true dat
[05:34]<awjzdd>CodeRun: i have fucked multiple coworkers sisters..
[05:34]<awjzdd>CodeRun: its been a good company to me
[05:34]<awjzdd>CodeRun: seriously if this company does die, i'll probably go away somewhere
[05:35]<zj2-wzc>They should put that in the recruitment brochure. ;)
[05:35]<awjzdd>lol
[05:35]<cjmgrug>rob-wrk: suppose, i want to be a coder.
[05:35]<awjzdd>CodeRun: where you goin to school?
[05:36]<zj2-wzc>Then a) find a company working on stuff that interests you b) find people you like working with and can learn from c) enjoy life.
[05:36]<awjzdd>ahh yes!
[05:36]<awjzdd>an important poin has been raised
[05:36]<awjzdd>always try to work with smart as hell guys
[05:37]<cjmgrug>i've not finished school yet, and most probably i'll try my post-graduation from the US..
[05:37]<cjmgrug>i see
[05:37]<awjzdd>CodeRun: Bahrain?
[05:37]<cjmgrug>at the moment yes.
[05:37]<awjzdd>where are you from?
[05:37]<cjmgrug>india
[05:38]<awjzdd>Bahrain is like the size of a large US city isn't it?
[05:38]<cjmgrug>lol
[05:38]<awjzdd>seriously, its like the size of LA
[05:38]<cjmgrug>yea, isnt very large.
[05:38]<awjzdd>lets look it up!
[05:39]<awjzdd>3.5 times the size of Washington, DC
[05:39]<awjzdd>yup, thats LA
[05:39]<zj2-wzc>LA is bigger than most countries
[05:39]<awjzdd>CodeRun: how many universities do they have there?
[05:39]<awjzdd>CodeRun: holy crap! 698,585 .. thats the size of the city i live in...
[05:40]<cjmgrug>i'm originally from india, and hence studying in an indian university. (BIT)
[05:41]<awjzdd>good literacy rate.
[05:41]<cjmgrug>so, rob-wrk, i'm interested in AI and programming .. so, do you think AI has a good-future? (sorry if i'm making it sound like career advice, but its something i need to know real bad)
[05:43]<zj2-wzc>Honestly I don't know, I think there is some use of neural nets, pseudo AI systems for analysis tools going on. but I don't know how much or how big.
[05:44]<cjmgrug>ok.
[05:44]<zj2-wzc>Its probably not a bad thing to learn more about, but at the grad level or above you should by then know enough about it to have a good feel for the types of uses it will have in the near future.
[05:45]<awjzdd>CodeRun: high unemployment rate where you're from
[05:45]<cjmgrug>heh
[05:45]<cjmgrug>ok, rob-wrk, i see your point..
[05:46]<awjzdd>CodeRun: where in US would you go for grad school?
[05:46]<awjzdd>CodeRun: do you have teh highspeed interweb?
[05:46]<cjmgrug>i have no idea.. right now i've just done first year of BE(CS)
[05:47]<cjmgrug>yea, jwormy. 1Mbps
