[15:04]<mjzymygo>the entire langauge is designed to work from a VM
[15:04]<mjzymygo>there were no considerations in the language for how computers work at the hard ware level
[15:04]<mjzymygo>Java is a total hardware abstraction
[15:04]<mjzymygo>as such it suffers performance wise for that

[15:05]<mjzymygo>but they still work to the rules laid down by the agnosticism of the langauges design.

[15:07]<mjzymygo>In my experience with mono (not much, but i've seen it running) one company I did some stuff for was replacing out its Unix Java for Mono with C#
[15:07]<mjzymygo>for what they were doing the mono c# gave a better performance ratio on dev time, performance and cost

[15:08]<mjzymygo>this was because they were able to semi-merge Microsoft based teams in too, so the code was portable so long as it was CLS complient
[15:09]<mjzymygo>also the hardware didn't need scaling out as the mono implementation didn;t use as many resources
