[01:14]<sdnffdxdlld>it checks other stuff at build
[01:14]<gjrvcxnne9w>obviously you don't underwstand what you are talking about involves
[01:14]<cjmgrug>i thought, error codes were replaced by Exceptions for good, m0`
[01:14]<pz2>I know I don't
[01:14]<vynvyv>that is true
[01:15]<vynvyv>all i know is that the end result is i know my error 5 minutes earlier when i use idea than vs
[01:15]<sdnffdxdlld>thats why you always hit build after doing a chunk of code (not to mention it then saves it too)
[01:15]<vynvyv>so why doesn't/can't vs act like idea in regards to this?
[01:15]<vynvyv>is there a reason vs couldn't have been "better"?
[01:16]<gjrvcxnne9w>tieTYT: write ms about it
[01:16]<sdnffdxdlld>also give us an example
[01:16]<cfudsd>idea?
[01:16]<vynvyv>ok here's an example
[01:17]<vynvyv>in idea, in a method
[01:17]<cfudsd>what is "idea"?
[01:17]<vynvyv>i'll type int i = "z";
[01:17]<sdnffdxdlld>lol leroi, i've been waiting ages to send this reply in pm :P
[01:17]<[dam]>Idea is a JAVA IDE
[01:17]<vynvyv>even before i type the semicolon, it says incompatible types...
[01:17]<fnzjy>lol
[01:17]<fnzjy>sucka
[01:17]<[dam]>that can have plugins for other language..
[01:17]<fnzjy>;p
[01:17]<vynvyv>[DcM]: if idea can have plugins for another language i haven't seen them. I know eclipse can though
[01:18]<[dam]>humm sorry mixing them..
[01:18]<[dam]>:P
[01:18]<cfudsd>nice feature of the idea, but still you are stuck with java, its like having a gold plated steering wheel on an old run down geo metro
[01:18]<vynvyv>klumsy: not the point
[01:19]<cfudsd>rolldown your window, hang your arm out like you are cool, show show chest hair and wear that medallion...
[01:19]<cfudsd>is there a plugin for vs.net that can do that b.t.w?
[01:19]<vynvyv>and you're all saying that vs intentionally acts the way it does?
[01:19]<`d0>im going to eat
[01:19]<vynvyv>i thought it was just something wrong with my install
[01:20]<`d0>:o
[01:20]<cfudsd>ahh, i was only privy to the last bout of conversation ;)
[01:20]<`d0>lol
[01:20]<vynvyv>so again GoatCheez41, what am i so confused about?
[01:21]<gjrvcxnne9w>tieTYT: what you are asking involves constant compilation
[01:21]<vynvyv>what part of the scenario i just described isn't really happening
[01:21]<cfudsd>you are confused because java has rotted your brain, distorted your reality, with its tempting ide's
[01:21]<gjrvcxnne9w>or uber-smartness on the IDE
[01:21]<vynvyv>GoatCheez41: ok so you're saying vs doesn't do this
[01:21]<cgvygw>I am attempting to create a c# asp.net dynamically edititemtemplate. I created the class inheriting Itemplate and cannot get the ITemplate.InstantiateIn method to fire. I have successfully done this with ItemTemplate, but will not work with EditItemTemplate. Can anyone give me some insight?
[01:21]<vynvyv>"fair enough" but that seems super gay
[01:22]<gjrvcxnne9w>tieTYT: and it's very unlikely that it ever will
[01:22]<vynvyv>the more i learn about vs the only benefit it seems to give is its wysiwyg ability
[01:22]<gjrvcxnne9w>what i think is ubergay is that you NEED something like that
[01:22]<sdnffdxdlld>aye tieTYT I can see where that'd be handy but knowing about that error 5 mins before only saves you 10 seconds of calling your self stupid and hitting rebuild
[01:22]<fnzjy>lol VS is the best
[01:23]<fnzjy>tieTYT: WTF are you talking about?
[01:23]<vynvyv>smellyhippy: i totally agree in that scenario
[01:23]<vynvyv>smellyhippy: but another one is i miss a bracket somewhere and it takes me 1 minute to track down
[01:23]<sdnffdxdlld>VS is great but theres always room for improvement (like the fucking speed)
[01:23]<vynvyv>it really depends on the error
[01:23]<sdnffdxdlld>ahhh brackets are easy ... you just follow the indentation
[01:23]<fnzjy>uhm all other IDE's and Compilers don't even come close to VS IMHO
[01:24]<vynvyv>leroi: what have you tried?
[01:24]<fnzjy>and the just follow MS's path
[01:24]<fnzjy>mono eclipse are two
[01:24]<sdnffdxdlld>I cant comment on other ides cause i havent tried um
[01:24]<sdnffdxdlld>but going back to 2k3 makes baby jeasus cry
[01:24]<sdnffdxdlld>-a
[01:24]<vynvyv>i don't see what vs provides that's better than eclipse
[01:24]<gjrvcxnne9w>tieTYT: back in my day, we didn't even have autocomplete... all we had was ERROR Comiling at Line #x of SOmething.C
[01:24]<vynvyv>when it comes to the basics
[01:24]<fnzjy>i even tried implementing my own for shits and giggles it's not worth it
[01:25]<fnzjy>lol GoatCheez41
[01:25]<sdnffdxdlld>visualstudio++
[01:25]<vynvyv>GoatCheez41: ok
[01:25]<fnzjy>i like to be productive for one
[01:25]<fnzjy>VS gives that
[01:25]<fnzjy>and it's up to date
[01:25]<vynvyv>leroi: oh nm, i see you have no real facts here
[01:25]<sdnffdxdlld>yeah VS does hugly increase productivity
[01:25]<fnzjy>those are my facts
[01:25]<gjrvcxnne9w>tieTYT: if you need something to tellyou stupid stuff like you forgot a brace, or you are trying to assign the wrong type, you NEED to learn how to program without an IDE at all!
[01:25]<fnzjy>so blow me softly
[01:25]<cjmgrug>VS2k5 is one of the coolest IDE's i've worked with.
[01:26]<vynvyv>wtf does being up to date have anything to with besides itself?
[01:26]<vynvyv>it's up tod ate compared to its previous version?
[01:26]<vynvyv>who cares
[01:26]<vynvyv>therefore it's the best?
[01:26]<cfudsd>yep, i love vs2k5, other than its speed
[01:26]<fnzjy>it has to do with all other IDE's try to copy VS and in relation to it they're out of date
[01:26]<fnzjy>not up to date
[01:26]<fnzjy>lack features
[01:26]<fnzjy>and suck
[01:26]<vynvyv>leroi: give an example
[01:26]<fnzjy>lol
[01:26]<fnzjy>i need not to
[01:26]<vynvyv>i like vs because it has a really cool wysiwyg for ide
[01:26]<vynvyv>leroi: because you don't know what you're talking about
[01:27]<vufvuzn>leroi: language features? yes - because VS releases _define_ those features
[01:27]<fnzjy>if you even know anything about VS or other ides
[01:27]<vufvuzn>IDE features? hardly
[01:27]<fnzjy>tieTYT yes i do son
[01:27]<vynvyv>i can name you 10 really cool things about idea right now that vs doesn't have (afaik)
[01:27]<vufvuzn>code folding, (and I suppose if I knew more about VS I could list other things) in VS was hardly a first
[01:27]<fnzjy>tieTYT: about idea?
[01:27]<gjrvcxnne9w>tieTYT: i can tell you a BILLION different languages that idea does not compile code for
