[18:38]<ymuggjt0tnt>so i can tunnel out from work
[18:39]<rwyfcygs>Does work let port 22 out?
[18:39]<lcs>you can tunnel out via htun
[18:39]<ymuggjt0tnt>no only 443 via a proxy
[18:39]<lcs>so, htun
[18:39]<lcs>;)
[18:40]<ymuggjt0tnt>yeah but i dont want to set up anything at home..
[18:40]<ymuggjt0tnt>maybe i would if i found software that reconnected automatically during a drop
[18:41]<rwyfcygs>If only there was an NX server for windows
[18:41]<zyccus>why?
[18:41]<zyccus>there's remote desktop
[18:41]<ymuggjt0tnt>isnt NoMachine NX for Windows...?
[18:41]<zyccus>which is just as good
[18:41]<rwyfcygs>NX has a client for Windows, but no server
[18:42]<ymuggjt0tnt>cant you just run Hummingbird or Cygwin or something
[18:43]<ymuggjt0tnt>this whole run a client on your machine and stream GUI is silly... reminds me of ajax
[18:43]<gjrvcxnne>we do that all the time here though
[18:43]<rwyfcygs>And Win2k has no RD server
[18:43]<rwyfcygs>And VNC is sucky slow
[18:43]<gjrvcxnne>we have aix boxes, and our devs all use win32.... but we also have gui *nix apps even though our *nix boxes are headless....we use cygwin to stream the x commands here for debugging and such
[18:43]<ymuggjt0tnt>its okay for remote access
[18:44]<ymuggjt0tnt>its just silly for desktop replacement
[18:44]<gjrvcxnne>oh yeah, totally agreed
[18:44]<gjrvcxnne>although it is quite nifty to see xclock running on your windows desktop with the time of the server it's running from
[18:45]<ymuggjt0tnt>how is the responsitivity on that? my dad has a linux box next to his windows box, 2 monitors, and it would be nicer if the 2nd monitor was running windows, remotely connected to linux
[18:45]<gjrvcxnne>it's instantaneous for the most part
[18:45]<gjrvcxnne>like faster than MS's remote desktop by far
[18:45]<rwyfcygs>Yeah, NX is very good
[18:45]<ymuggjt0tnt>just cygwin and ssh -X ?
[18:46]<gjrvcxnne>just telnet lol
[18:46]<ymuggjt0tnt>how do you get it to stream the X
[18:46]<rwyfcygs>I tend to use putty and Cygwins X server
[18:46]<gjrvcxnne>just set the display environment veriable to your client's ip addres:0
[18:46]<rwyfcygs>Putty has a nice "tunnel the X" checkbox
[18:47]<ymuggjt0tnt>yeah and putty is the same thing as ssh -X
[18:47]<ymuggjt0tnt>GoatCheez hmm, direct X connection ?
[18:47]<gjrvcxnne>yeah
[18:47]<gjrvcxnne>ssh works just as well tho
[18:47]<ymuggjt0tnt>i'll tell my dad to try that
[18:47]<gjrvcxnne>ssh tunneling i should say
[18:48]<ymuggjt0tnt>so any ideas about the SSH tunneling, I am mainly interested in a server to _connect_ to and not the client software?
[18:48]<gjrvcxnne>hehe, yeah
[18:48]<gjrvcxnne>idunno: what are your requiremnets? i'm not sure i understand the configuration you are aiming for
[18:48]<rwyfcygs>Offhand, I can't think of any places offering free shell accounts with unlimited port forwarding that acccept connections tunelled over SSL :-)
[18:48]<ymuggjt0tnt>i just want to find some server that I can connect to for free, or for a small fee
[18:49]<rwyfcygs>It's a bit of a funny combination
[18:49]<ymuggjt0tnt>$10/month or whatever is fine
[18:49]<rwyfcygs>idunno50595: You have a router at home?
[18:49]<gjrvcxnne>idunno: what do you mena by a server
[18:49]<ymuggjt0tnt>the whole point is so i dont have to set up anything at home, dont you think?
[18:50]<rwyfcygs>idunno50595: Well, you're going to find it hard to find a service that provides the particular combination of things you want
[18:50]<gjrvcxnne>idunno: you want a *nix with X that you can "remote" into?
[18:50]<rwyfcygs>No, he doesn't want X
[18:50]<gjrvcxnne>just a basic old shell account?
[18:50]<ymuggjt0tnt>its trivial, i just want somewhere i can SSH running at port 443
[18:50]<gjrvcxnne>oh
[18:50]<gjrvcxnne>that's not trivial for shell providers lol
[18:50]<rwyfcygs>He really just wants SSHD with port forwarding switched on, but listenin on port 443
[18:50]<zyccus>idunno50595: but you're going via a proxy...?
[18:51]<ymuggjt0tnt>rikkus: that doesnt matter, proxytunnel will forward SSH connections to 443
[18:51]<gjrvcxnne>idunno: if u wanna pay $10/month, you should be able to find that
[18:51]<gjrvcxnne>executing processes? anyone?
[18:51]<gjrvcxnne>also, i need to obtain console output from a process I run...
[18:51]<rwyfcygs>idunno50595: You don't even need that ; you can direct SSH to connect on whatever port, it's convincing the other end to listen on that port that would be hard
[18:51]<ymuggjt0tnt>no i would just ssh into another box almost immediately
[18:51]<gjrvcxnne>idunno: grab an old xbox, and put linux on it and use that
[18:52]<ymuggjt0tnt>awilkins: uh.. no i cant... if i could do that, i would ssh to some box on port 22
[18:52]<ymuggjt0tnt>what part of I don't want to set up anything myself and let in people onto my own network that we missed?
[18:53]<ymuggjt0tnt>until I have a DMZ i dont feel particularly inclined to open up anything on my firewall box
[18:53]<gjrvcxnne>idunno: i think you just need to start looking for a shell provider.... make sure you know what your req's are, and for $10/month you should be able to find the right combination i'm sure
[18:55]<d-00cyn>hey im having trouble with a delegate..
[18:55]<rwyfcygs>Repatriate him to his own nation
[18:55]<d-00cyn>i have a function which has multiple arguments required, and am trying to call it via a delegate, passing an object array for the args
[18:56]<d-00cyn>however i dont think im doing it right.. its complaining that there's no overload for the type im doing
[18:56]<ymuggjt0tnt>lol
[18:56]<gjrvcxnne>you don't need to use an object array for the args, but it's not necessarily wrong
[18:56]<ymuggjt0tnt>a params array or an array array
[18:56]<d-00cyn>i have addtext(string s, string t, bool u) { }
[18:56]<d-00cyn>how do i call that from the delegate?
[18:56]<gjrvcxnne>the delegate is a public void delegate (String, string, bool)?
[18:57]<zyccus>let's see the call
[18:58]<gjrvcxnne>public delegate void GrabberFunc(string a, string b, string c); GrabberFunc myDel = new GrabberFunc(Grabber); myDel("","","");
[18:58]<d-00cyn>delegate void daddtext(String s, String t, bool u); public void addtext(String from, String str, bool isme) { if (!InvokeRequired) { } else { Invoke(new daddtext(addtext,from,str,isme)); } }
[18:59]<d-00cyn>hmm close
[18:59]<svzz[wjzc]>OFFTOPIC WARNING (don't read if you're offended by offtopic stuff) : Hey guys do you know if there's a name for the "Old english" you know when you read "Thou art" or stuff like (NPC in Dragon Warrior (NES) were speaking like that)
