[14:29]<zrrry>morning all
[14:29]<cjmgrug>i'm bored.
[14:29]<cjmgrug>Morning.
[14:30]<zrrry>cool, fancy writing an interpreter console for my logging framework?
[14:30]<zyccus>morning
[14:31]<cjmgrug>lol, not THAT bored :p
[14:31]<zrrry>aww, but it's onyl going to use a handful of the reflection api
[14:31]<zrrry>i'm not expecting you to write a frame browser either
[14:31]<zrrry>lol
[14:31]<zrrry>it's ok, i'll add that when i need it...
[14:32]<zrrry>i'ev got way more important stuff to do today anyway
[14:32]<cjmgrug>heh
[14:34]<zrrry>like building this settings api with per-login transactions and local chaching
[14:54]<zrrry>sweet - just worked out the data size price point on our new framework, heh, $0.20 a Byte. hahaha
[14:59]<drygq>*mumbles, wondering if there is a reason to use MS-Office.. while we the free
[14:59]<drygq>OpenOffice now
[15:00]<zrrry>because, well, MS Office can read, well, MS Office documents, which, well, the competition, CANT
[15:02]<drygq>what are you talking about
[15:03]<drygq>OoO can open / edit MS Office files without any problems at all
[15:03]<zrrry>that there are alot of MS Office document features that don't work in OO
[15:03]<zrrry>that's not true
[15:03]<zrrry>open MS Word, insert a Custom Field, save, open in OO
[15:03]<zrrry>FAILED.
[15:04]<lcs>13:39 <@grzegorz> AssertionFailedError: expected:<1> but was:<1>
[15:04]<lcs>a friend is testing powershell :)
[15:04]<zrrry>^^
[15:04]<zrrry>oooh
[15:05]<zrrry>this isn't the rumored shell that's not yet in vista is it?
[15:05]<lcs>mhm
[15:05]<zyccus>that won't be in vista
[15:05]<zrrry>wicked
[15:05]<drygq>raggi: thats probably because MS used closed formats
[15:05]<zyccus>and isn't just rumoured
[15:05]<zyccus>you can download it now
[15:06]<sdnffdxdlld>yeah powershell has been around for ages as monad
[15:06]<zrrry>main2: REALLY? you don't say. OO is useless in a real world environment. sadly, office is the only practical real world solution - anything else will COST your business money.
[15:06]<mjzymygo>raggi; Openoffice?
[15:06]<zrrry>rikkus: i took a look at the shell in vista, wen't oh look, it still has netsh, and left.
[15:07]<lcs>raggi: what has netsh to do with shell?
[15:07]<zrrry>Moridin8: yes
[15:07]<lcs>is use bash and i have netsh, does it make it worse? :)
[15:07]<sdnffdxdlld>Moridin8: hows the sqlite bats going?
[15:07]<zrrry>pks: nothing really, other than i rarely use anything else
[15:07]<drygq>raggi: i disagree, people just have to move over once - problems solved.
[15:07]<mjzymygo>I like Openoffice.
[15:08]<zrrry>Moridin8: good for you, i like to be able to read incoming docs.
[15:08]<drygq>that people can have problems with MS its fileformats because MS kept them 'closed'
[15:08]<drygq>is logical
[15:08]<mjzymygo>smellyhippy: I have the Get and Persist working. Having to work around the quirks of SQLite... it's getting there ;)
[15:08]<zrrry>s/like to be able to/need to be able to/
[15:08]<drygq>raggi: is a MS-slave.. i guess :D
[15:08]<mjzymygo>raggi: me too, thats why I use openoffice
[15:08]<drygq>^^
[15:08]<sdnffdxdlld>hehe yeah ... it doers have quirks but it is fast and useful
[15:08]<mjzymygo>I have it installed along-side MS Office though
[15:08]<drygq>and it doesnt cost a single dime, makes fully use of XML and everything you want :D
[15:09]<zrrry>main2: slave? no, not really. i work in the real world mate.
[15:09]<mjzymygo>raggi: and your saying everyone here doesn't?
[15:09]<mjzymygo>raggi: thats a rather large and obtuse sweeping statement
[15:09]<sdnffdxdlld>raggi: yeah me too ... I occasionally play with OO but MS office is here to stay for a while
[15:09]<zrrry>Moridin8: don't put stupid words in my mouth, i can say those myself m8
[15:10]<zrrry>Moridin8: no, it's not. every real world install of OO i have seen has ended up costing the business alot of money. period.
[15:10]<drygq>'OO is useless in a real world environment.' is what you just said
[15:10]<mjzymygo>strange. i've seen exactly the opposite
[15:10]<zrrry>no, i said, OO is inappropriate for use in most real world scenarios
[15:10]<drygq>read what he wrote, just scroll back.. and now he denies
[15:11]<cjmgrug>are you talking about software on Earth ?
[15:11]<sdnffdxdlld>lo CodeRun
[15:11]<cjmgrug>hey smellyhippy :)
[15:11]<mjzymygo>hey Coderun
[15:11]<cjmgrug>sup Moridin8
[15:11]<zrrry>you could use it if you were a small company that never recieved an office file from elsewhere, if you want to recieve files from elsewhere you're going to need ms office, that's a fact.
[15:11]<zrrry>if you're around industries that often use complex templating formats or macros, you'll need office
[15:11]<mjzymygo>raggi: your talking pants
[15:11]<zrrry>i.e. that accounts for most of the fortune 500 world.
[15:12]<zrrry>if not all.
[15:12]<sdnffdxdlld>right back to work i suppose ... back in 4 1/2 hrs
[15:12]<drygq>raggi: people using OoO might have problems with the MS file formats because they where kept 'private' / closed
[15:12]<sdnffdxdlld>Moridin8: got an eta on sqlite bats?
[15:12]<lcs>i've got one tricky question, which TextBox's property describes background color which will be used to pain the box while it is being edited?
[15:12]<zrrry>main2: TO THE END USER YOUR POINT IS ABSTRACT AND THEORETICAL
[15:13]<zrrry>main2: when the real world involves printing off and signing a document - you need to be able to do that, not be asking some numpty to 'remove stuff my program can't read'
[15:13]<sdnffdxdlld>pks: BackColor ... if you want it different whilst focused you need to setup the event to change it
[15:13]<lcs>damn
[15:13]<mjzymygo>smellyhippy: not atm... maybe end of next week
[15:14]<sdnffdxdlld>damn? oh no the pain for 4 lines of code!
[15:14]<sdnffdxdlld>oh righty
[15:14]<sdnffdxdlld>grrrr damn matt :P ok
[15:14]<sdnffdxdlld>btw did rich freemantle get in touch with you?
[15:14]<mjzymygo>whats up smellyhippy?
[15:14]<sdnffdxdlld>party at his on saturday ^_^
[15:14]<mjzymygo>smellyhippy: no... why?
[15:14]<mjzymygo>ahhh! hehe
[15:14]<drygq>raggi: OpenOffice can do that very very well, dont worry
[15:14]<sdnffdxdlld>hmmm i sent him your number
[15:14]<mjzymygo>my new one?
[15:15]<sdnffdxdlld>he was asking after you and had been trying to contact you
[15:15]<sdnffdxdlld>errr how new?
[15:15]<sdnffdxdlld>and if new then why havent you given it to me!
