[16:14]<sjmzmgbjznm>http://support.microsoft.com/kb/121366/
[16:15]<sjmzmgbjznm>if anyone wants to use my old nick, can use it, since this is my permanent nick.
[16:15]<sjmzmgbjznm>from now onwards.
[16:15]<sxyg-rr>SoDamnBored is ur new one :S
[16:16]<sjmzmgbjznm>mostly, yes.
[16:16]<rwyfcygs>Why are you trolling through the PDB and DBG files?
[16:17]<sjmzmgbjznm>probably because he too is SoDamnBored
[16:17]<sxyg-rr>i just seen it in the debug folder and wondered what it was
[16:17]<rwyfcygs>Ah
[16:17]<sxyg-rr>why not get a better name ;)
[16:17]<sxyg-rr>i like my nick ;)
[16:18]<sxyg-rr>i can't see why people hate VS?
[16:19]<sxyg-rr>the only thing is better syntax colouring is needed
[16:19]<sxyg-rr>and less ram usage
[16:19]<djac>i dont hate VS
[16:19]<sxyg-rr>I finid VS the best IDE
[16:19]<mz_2zzgjwf>VS is certainly one of the best IDEs I use
[16:19]<sxyg-rr>find*
[16:19]<sxyg-rr>damn typos
[16:19]<djac>it just takes a few more seconds to load than what i would like..
[16:19]<sxyg-rr>yeah
[16:20]<mz_2zzgjwf>VB6 loads like snap on a modern machine.
[16:20]<mz_2zzgjwf>But that really doesn't help
[16:20]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>it still sucks as..
[16:20]<mz_2zzgjwf>Anyway, you're going to be coding much longer than you'll be waiting for it to load.
[16:20]<sxyg-rr>whats the thing called like a form in a form?
[16:21]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>Shin-Ra: VS rots the brain.
[16:21]<sxyg-rr>ha
[16:21]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>it does
[16:21]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>go google "VS rots the brain"/
[16:22]<mz_2zzgjwf>http://www.bakelblog.com/nobodys_business/2005/07/judith_reismans.html
[16:22]<sxyg-rr>coding by hand sucks ;)
[16:22]<mz_2zzgjwf>Indeed.
[16:23]<sxyg-rr>i hate hand compil;ing like i did on linux
[16:23]<sxyg-rr>too damn annoying
[16:23]<mz_2zzgjwf>I've gone so far as to write code generators and metadata scrapers just to avoid hand-coding.
[16:23]<sxyg-rr>im glaad they mad ide's
[16:24]<cjmgrug>i would say, first learn it the hard way.. with notepad and 'hand coding'.. once you get that, you would want to shift to an IDE.. so now you have the advantage of good basics/fundamentals and also you have increased speed using intellisense etc..
[16:24]<sxyg-rr>but if you can code by hand and have a working app with no problems i envy you
[16:24]<cjmgrug>hand coding is slow.
[16:24]<sxyg-rr>very
[16:24]<mz_2zzgjwf>CodeRun: I do try to type the correct case for things, even though the 'sense will fill it in for you.
[16:25]<sxyg-rr>have you tried any other gui for C#?
[16:25]<mz_2zzgjwf>In VB6 I had got to the point where I could write a small application and have it compile and function without problems the first time....
[16:25]<mz_2zzgjwf>#I tried SharpDevelop
[16:25]<mz_2zzgjwf>THe new versions are very impressive ; integrated debugger n'all.
[16:26]<sxyg-rr>why use that when you have express ;)
[16:26]<mz_2zzgjwf>Exactly.
[16:26]<sxyg-rr>x-develop i hate
[16:26]<mz_2zzgjwf>It's a shame, because it's a nice IDE. I suspect MS released Express just to kill it.
[16:26]<cjmgrug>dr_barnowl, thats not the point.. i mean, people who can code C# with VS2k5... and dont understand what the ide is doing under the hood, can be a big problem.
[16:26]<sxyg-rr>yeah MS says express will always be free
[16:27]<mz_2zzgjwf>What, they changed their position?
[16:27]<sxyg-rr>yeah
[16:27]<mz_2zzgjwf>It was going to be just for the first years registrations
[16:27]<sxyg-rr>they are not going to charge for it now
[16:27]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>hand coding
[16:27]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>wtf
[16:27]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>you whiny bitches
[16:27]<mz_2zzgjwf>Well, the whole "first year" BS was just to avoid monopoly accusations anyway.
[16:27]<cjmgrug>i would like to use one of those 2-way debuggers( dont know what they are called exactly).. like they let you control the program flow like a time-machine ;)
[16:28]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>fucking get a linux box
[16:28]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>"hand coding"
[16:28]<mz_2zzgjwf>I have a linux box.
[16:28]<sxyg-rr>Project2501a, eh?
[16:28]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>dr_barnowl: not you
[16:28]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>the other twho whiners
[16:28]<mz_2zzgjwf>When I have to, I edit the code in vi.
[16:28]<sxyg-rr>vim sucks
[16:28]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>get emacs, then.
[16:28]<sxyg-rr>emacs sucks too
[16:28]<mz_2zzgjwf>I'm starting to like vi
[16:28]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>get pico
[16:29]<sxyg-rr>im starting to hate linux now
[16:29]<mz_2zzgjwf>I had MicroEmacs on my Amiga, and that sucked.
[16:29]<mz_2zzgjwf>I used to use nano
[16:29]<sxyg-rr>nano i like ;)
[16:29]<mz_2zzgjwf>Once you get past the modal thing, nano looks like a silly plastic toy though.,
[16:29]<cjmgrug>Project2501a , i was refering to hand coding as in writing a full fledged c# app in notepad and then compiling agains csc.exe
[16:29]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>jesus christ, the only that that makes you a technocrat is your sence of your own code.
[16:29]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>CodeRun: i've done that.
[16:29]<sxyg-rr>you have to read a tut for vim what a waste of time
[16:29]<cjmgrug>with allt the proper flags..
[16:30]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>been there, got the t-shirt.
[16:30]<cjmgrug>not flags.. i meant those command line parameters
[16:30]<mz_2zzgjwf>On Windows I mostly used Notepad2, but I'm starting to use Vi a bot more, if only to let it's neuromuscular pathways get embedded in my spinal loops a bit more.
[16:30]<sxyg-rr>who would compile with csc by hand when you can basically use an ide to have it work perfect
[16:30]<sxyg-rr>and not worry about fucking up things
[16:30]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>someone who's got a fucking clue?
[16:30]<cjmgrug>Shin-Ran, tell that to Project2501a
[16:30]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>you don't let the machine do EVERYTHING for you.
[16:30]<mz_2zzgjwf>Shin-Ra: you have to read a tut for vim what a waste of time : You have to run C# code through a compiler what a waste of time....
[16:31]<sxyg-rr>>.<
[16:31]<sxyg-rr>if you manually compil;e ur dumb
[16:31]<sxyg-rr>compile*
[16:31]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>so, the linux kernel people are dumb?
[16:32]<mz_2zzgjwf>I don't, I use the IDE, or a nant script, or automake, or whatever is handy
[16:32]<sxyg-rr>linux sucks ;)
[16:32]<pzrrnrvqt0wr>...
[16:32]<mz_2zzgjwf>If I'm just compiling a single file I whacked off in notepad, I use csc at the command line.
