[04:35]<zxds>partions or such can do the same
[04:35]<2ggfuj>rhys: thanx
[04:35]<2ggfuj>rhys: i'll follow your suggestion
[04:36]<zxds>just a matter of saftey. if you foobar it then 5 minutes later noone will know. :D
[04:36]<2ggfuj>rhys: yes. :P
[04:42]<fyr2fn>s0crates: start using screen, its will save from that exact problem
[04:42]<zxds> liable, screen?
[04:49]<fyr2fn>rhys: yeah, google it
[04:53]<rjgyg>rhys: google it learn it love it :)
[04:55]<cxrcrr>yeah search for screen manpage
[04:55]<cxrcrr>all the info you need prolly
[04:55]<fyr2fn>arg, i wish i could find which fucking package compiz needs for the window decorator shits
[04:55]<cxrcrr>i love that feature
[04:55]<cxrcrr>liable, ~__~
[05:04]<ugsvr2fn>Is there a network split right now?
[05:05]<ugsvr2fn>There are 22,000 global users right now; So I'm going to assume not.
[05:36]<fyr2fn>!qotd0
[05:36]<mlcr>qotd74 is, like, < DrBlink> wow i didnt kno linux had an interface
[05:37]<zxds>inteface? here i thought linux just read your mind and gave you blowjobs. :(
[05:40]<sxgcdrfxgg>I just did a dist-upgrade today and went to unstable. Well, now, xdm stopped working. the xdm command runs and ends silently without any errors.
[05:40]<sxgcdrfxgg>I tried to see what is happening with strace and saw nothing of interest
[05:45]<sxgcdrfxgg>Is there anything known to cause problem with the transition to xorg or something?
[05:52]<fyr2fn>shekmalhen: see /topix, go to the debian wiki and see xorg6.9->7
[05:53]<lucn-jz>Can I undo a dist-upgrade? :/
[05:53]<fyr2fn>Luke-Jr: if you know what was upgraded.
[05:53]<fyr2fn>Luke-Jr: unless you changed from etch to sid, or sarge to etch..
[05:53]<lucn-jz>liable: I haven't a clue-- just know it messed up my networking
[05:54]<fyr2fn>then you are screwed
[05:54]<lucn-jz>nope, just dist-upgrade regularly
[05:54]<fyr2fn>Luke-Jr: what version of debian?
[05:54]<rrgdjd>hi can anyone here help me with wpa supplicant setup
[05:54]<lnmnz_>Anyone installed qmail and courier-imap ?
[05:54]<fyr2fn>!ask
[05:54]<mlcr>If you have a question, just ask! For Example: "I have a problem with ___; I'm running Debian version ___. when I try to do ___ I get the following output ___. I expected it to do ___." Don't ask if you can ask, or if anyone uses it, or pick one person to ask (ask the whole channel!). We're all volunteers; make it easy for us to help you. If you don't get an answer, ask later or ask debian-user@lists.debian.org
[05:55]<rrgdjd>ok my wpasupplicant does not work ... i am really confused
[05:55]<rrgdjd>can someone help or make suggestions
[05:55]<rrgdjd>it seems to just do nothing
[05:55]<rrgdjd>i check iwconfig and essid is set to any still
[05:56]<rrgdjd>instead of my terminal
[05:56]<rrgdjd>it worked before i moved from 2.6.9 custom kernel to a 2.6.15 custom kernel
[05:56]<lnmnz_>I have installed qmail with vpopmail and courier-imap. I can login to the pop3 server, but when I try to authorize with the imap server it cant autorize. The logs says this: imaplogin: LOGIN FAILED, ip=[::ffff:127.0.0.1] , eventhough I know the login is correct.
[05:56]<fyr2fn>Random: how are you calling wpasupp? what debian version?
[05:56]<rrgdjd>but i also did a apt-get update recently
[05:56]<rrgdjd>thanks
[05:56]<rrgdjd>i am using debian testing
[05:57]<fyr2fn>Random: check /usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant/ first
[05:57]<mvs>Random, you have to use the wext extension now
[05:57]<rrgdjd>i am calling it using /etc/init.d/wpasupplicant start
[05:57]<fyr2fn>Random: there have been quit a few changes to it recently
[05:57]<rrgdjd>so is wext a complete replacement for ndis
[05:57]<rrgdjd>?
[05:57]<fyr2fn>that is one of them..
[05:57]<rrgdjd>how is it related?
[05:57]<fyr2fn>read the news/changelog
[05:58]<rrgdjd>can you tell me how to find/read the news change log
[05:58]<rrgdjd>please and thnks
[05:59]<lucn-jz>liable: Sarge
[05:59]<lucn-jz>I think
[05:59]<lucn-jz>3.1
[05:59]<fyr2fn>Luke-Jr: hrm, then there isnt any logs unless you used aptitude
[05:59]<lucn-jz>liable: nope :(
[05:59]<fyr2fn>Luke-Jr: what exactly is broken?
[05:59]<lucn-jz>liable: after approximately 45 minutes since booting
[06:00]<lucn-jz>I cannot send outbound UDP, pings, nor initiate TCP connections
[06:00]<fyr2fn>Random: install mc, then go to /usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant/
[06:00]<mvs>Random, http://www.debian-administration.org/articles/312
[06:00]<lucn-jz>inbound everything works, as well as established TCP
[06:00]<fyr2fn>Random: or with whatever file browser you use
[06:01]<fyr2fn>Luke-Jr: ah, i have no idea.
[06:01]<fyr2fn>:(
[06:01]<lucn-jz>crap :(
[06:01]<lucn-jz>It totally suggests kernel problem to me
[06:01]<lucn-jz>but I don't have control of the kernel
[06:01]<lucn-jz>and they claim it's all good for other people
[06:01]<lucn-jz>who use the same kernel, I presume
[06:02]<lucn-jz>hm, any way to send a test packet using only kernel calls? =p
[06:02]<lucn-jz>or should ping do that?
[06:04]<rrgdjd>thanks i'll read thru and come back later
[06:04]<rrgdjd>appreciated
[06:05]<fyr2fn>Random: most notable was that they removed the init script. its pretty well explained
[06:05]<sxgcdrfxgg>liable, thank you :)
[06:05]<zznz\jzd>hello
[06:06]<fyr2fn>shekmalhen: fixed?
[06:06]<sxgcdrfxgg>liable, in parts. But xdm starts now
[06:06]<fyr2fn>cool
[06:07]<sxgcdrfxgg>it was a problem with the /usr/X11R6 -> /usr
[06:07]<muv>Why someone create this martian "interface" in exim configuration? Who is need it?
[06:07]<sxgcdrfxgg>Martians feel more comfortable with it, dut :)
[06:08]<muv>How I may add just simple smtp auth with tls now?
[06:10]<muv>i add host:user:password to passwd.client and i anyway get "Authentication Required"
[06:11]<gf_rfgwfugr>hi all!
[06:12]<ezyrr->hi.
[06:13]<zznz\jzd>someone knows to use perl -pi -e here?
[06:13]<ezyrr->is there a single floppy debian installation solution?
[06:13]<ezyrr->I only have one floppy disk
[06:13]<ezyrr->no cdrom
[06:13]<ezyrr->currently running rh9
[06:13]<ezyrr->and I want to install debian over it
[06:13]<ezyrr->what do I do?
