[05:23]<duzycs>NativePHP: edit the module conmfiguration file
[05:23]<zz2dmpuz2d>has anyone else been experiencing seemingly random freezes with firefox 1.5?
[05:23]<lyguw2nrc>What the heck. I *just* updated openoffice yesterday, and now there's a new version?
[05:23]<dzrajgw>NativePHP: you could add the module to /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 if you're desperate
[05:23]<duzycs>and next time pay attention to etc-update
[05:23]<duzycs>Linuxbeak: ROFL
[05:24]<cyauvsu>Linuxbeak: yay for linux eh?
[05:24]<rzrrcj>any ideas how to repair /usr/include "stupidity removed it" with out reinstall
[05:24]<nrvyvnphp>Draconx: desperate? is there a better config file then that?
[05:24]<nrvyvnphp>yuriks: that in /etc/modules.autoload.d/ ?
[05:24]<duzycs>yeah
[05:24]<duzycs>put your module there
[05:25]<sdfvysa>yay... 21/235 of KDE....
[05:25]<duzycs>heh
[05:25]<duzycs>QT is a ... to compile too
[05:25]<cyauvsu>QT takes _FOREVER_
[05:26]<sdfvysa>I wonder if I'm gonna have to build that too
[05:26]<cyauvsu>most likely.
[05:26]<cyauvsu>if I've not gone stupid.
[05:26]<sdfvysa>I still don't know how I'm gonna go about getting cedega set up
[05:26]<dzrajgw>sylvisj: you buy it and then you download the cedega-small tgz, then you emerge it
[05:26]<sdfvysa>I have bought it
[05:27]<sdfvysa>Hmm....
[05:27]<cyauvsu>wait
[05:27]<cyauvsu>BUY it?
[05:27]<sdfvysa>isn't the small command line?
[05:27]<cyauvsu>What is this B U Y you speak of?
[05:27]<dzrajgw>sylvisj: then just download the small tgz then throw it in /usr/portage/distfiles
[05:27]<sdfvysa>Yeah... it beats the hell out of tinkering with Wine for days on end
[05:27]<dzrajgw>sylvisj: then you download the engine update file, and install that in point2play
[05:28]<zz2dmpuz2d>sylvisj: IIRC, small doesn't include any deps, because it's better to have portage handle them
[05:28]<sdfvysa>Ahh ok
[05:28]<sdfvysa>d/ling small now
[05:28]<sgjwzzlvjz>If I emerge ccache and add `FEATURES="ccache"ยด (and the pertinent CCACHE_DIR and CCACHE_SIZE variables) to /etc/make.conf, will it be enough to portage use it or I must copy those symlinks to PATH?
[05:29]<dzrajgw>SnowRaptor: i believe that is sufficient
[05:29]<sdfvysa>Just throw the .tgz directly to /blah/distfiles?
[05:29]<dzrajgw>sylvisj: yep
[05:30]<sgjwzzlvjz>Draconx: okay, ty
[05:30]<sdfvysa>Now emerge cedega?
[05:30]<sgjwzzlvjz>Draconx: I was a bit skeptic about it, lol
[05:32]<sdfvysa>Draconx, now I emerge cedega?
[05:32]<sfyrsfrc>can anyone recomend a *good* svn gui frontend? preferrably kde.
[05:32]<dzrajgw>sylvisj: yes
[05:34]<vrdr00>I am the creator of the enviroment.
[05:35]<sdfvysa>I'm Hugh Heffner.
[05:35]<dxzrrcgffyrg>is there any way to get time estimates for packages that have never been compiled on a particular system?
[05:35]<vrdr00>hi hugh
[05:35]<vrdr00>Dhraakellian, its called guessing
[05:35]<sdfvysa>Dhraakellian, just scale it off size of package and what hardware you have
[05:35]<pjwqdycn>Dhraakellian: not too sure there is
[05:36]<dxzrrcgffyrg>tama00: yes, but is there any way to make portage (or some other util) to do it for me?
[05:36]<rggjgg>Dhraakellian: not yet
[05:36]<dxzrrcgffyrg>"yet"
[05:36]<vrdr00>Dhraakellian, random number generator?
[05:36]<dzrajgw>Dhraakellian: come up with an algorithm relating size to time, then your utility is bc
[05:36]<sdfvysa>Draconx, don't forget hardware and available cpu %, ram, etc
[05:37]<dzrajgw>sylvisj: I included that in the "come up with an algorithm" part
[05:37]<sdfvysa>:P Ahh
[05:37]<irdevxjs>how long does it take to emerge X?
[05:37]<rggjgg>a while
[05:37]<dxzrrcgffyrg>(and, wow, quick responses. I usually have to get involved with the convo for a couple minutes before asking...)
[05:37]<sdfvysa>Emerge xorg-x11? Bout 20 minutes
[05:37]<irdevxjs>damn
[05:37]<vrdr00>IamEthos, a life time
[05:37]<dzzzyp>Draconx, and language... C++ takes longer than C, for example.. while a perl script doesn't take any compiling
[05:37]<dxzrrcgffyrg>hmm
[05:37]<dzrajgw>IamEthos: it totally depends on the hardware
[05:37]<vrdr00>IamEthos, it realy depends on ur hardware lol
[05:37]<sdfvysa>:P
[05:37]<irdevxjs>I know
[05:37]<sdfvysa>I'm assuming he's got mediocre
[05:37]<dzrajgw>mngrif: i know, but size is really all you have to go on when you've never compiled it before
[05:37]<irdevxjs>I was just looking for a general estimate
[05:38]<sdfvysa>iamethos, between 15 and 30 mins
[05:38]<rggjgg>IamEthos: between a few minutes and a few days
[05:38]<dzrajgw>IamEthos: well it can take anywhere from several days (my p120) to 25 minutes (athlon64 3200+)
[05:38]<vrdr00>IamEthos, well i estimate a year on a casin calculator
[05:38]<dxzrrcgffyrg>2.4GHz p4 with 768 (minus video) RAM and ~1GB swap, with KDE and such running
[05:38]<dzzzyp>just compile it...
[05:38]<dxzrrcgffyrg>I'm not such a masochist that I'd do lots of compiling while running azureus
[05:38]<sdfvysa>Please tell me that's not a prescott
[05:39]<rggjgg>2.4 is still Northwood
[05:39]<dzzzyp>sheesh, if you need the CPU time for something else, you can always ^Z the process
[05:39]<rggjgg>(although that's a toaster too)
[05:39]<sdfvysa>(yeah, but not as bad)
[05:39]<rzrrcj>anyone think this might help fix it env-update && source /etc/profile
[05:39]<dzzzyp>reniceing it is also a good idea
[05:39]<dxzrrcgffyrg>^Z?
[05:39]<irdevxjs>sylvisj, sorry :-/
[05:39]<vrdr00>its like sayign GO TO BED YOU PROCESS!
[05:39]<sdfvysa>I'd have to lean towards 30-40mins because of CPU
[05:39]<dxzrrcgffyrg>and the azureus thing isn't a problem because of CPU
[05:39]<vrdr00>and the process says back zzzzzZZZzzz
[05:39]<dxzrrcgffyrg>azureus is just a memory hog
[05:40]<dgpvjaxygj>~1hr on a p3 750mhz on a good day
[05:40]<dzzzyp>Dhraakellian, ctrl-z... it suspends the process until you either 'fg' or 'bg' it. fg puts it back into the foreground, while bg backgrounds it so you can keep using that shell (useless when you're compiling stuff, just go with to resume it so you can pause it again)
[05:40]<sdfvysa>Low cache, long pipe, mediocre clock, ~35mins estimated.
[05:41]<vrdr00>i estimate 5mins on my cluster of 6 4800+AMD dual cores..
[05:41]<sdfvysa>Nice.
