[11:10]<nvyfw>AMD 2800XP
[11:10]<nvyfw>unless you mean ust the main thing
[11:10]<nvyfw>not the entire 6 cd thing
[11:11]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: can't take that long i do a network iso install with all 5 cd's as the 6th cd is windows playdisk only
[11:12]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: or you can try to find the ini files in the packages and manually figure out where they go and make sure you have them all
[11:12]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: which is more work ya think
[11:12]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: i make two directories... one to mount cd1 and another to mount the rest of them
[11:14]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: or you can cd to /usr/local/games/ut2004/System and try UT2004
[11:14]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: or UT2004-bin
[11:14]<mnvrpxrnn>make that ./UT2004-bin
[11:15]<myssaavnc>inetd: Sorry, was AFK. Yes, I had multiple volumes on my RAID0 when I recovered them.
[11:16]<mnvrpxrnn>why my p2 laptop with 128 megs of memory compile all the gentoo stuff ( x enlightenment and the 50 other packages i installed) faster than my p4 desktop with 2 gigs of ram
[11:17]<nvyfw>same thigns
[11:17]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: then the choices stand (find the ini files manually or reinstall)
[11:18]<mnvrpxrnn>i could read off all the ini files i have
[11:18]<nvyfw>reinstallin
[11:18]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: i could email them to ya
[11:18]<nvyfw>lthat alright
[11:18]<nvyfw>ill just unstall
[11:18]<nvyfw>do i have to remove all of ut2004 dependcy?
[11:19]<nvyfw>or just emerge unmerge ut2004
[11:19]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: ??? i just installed it from the cd's what did you do?
[11:19]<nvyfw>use the ebuild
[11:20]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: there are 8 ini files all in ut2004/System
[11:20]<nvyfw>i guess i can try the cds
[11:20]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: that may be the problem... portage wouldn't even install nwn for me
[11:20]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: i had to use the dvd
[11:20]<c|ygv>hi all, anyone in here that knows wireless built in ,
[11:21]<mnvrpxrnn>C|int: i use wireless on my laptop what do you want to know
[11:22]<nvyfw>ill try installing it from the cds
[11:22]<nvyfw>i hope it dont freeze again
[11:22]<nvyfw>the portage uses the loki thing
[11:22]<c|ygv>what al I need to download, while being on Windows , etc, so I can get it installed on gentoo, then be able to have my wireless working, it worked with VMware workstation 5, for windows, :)
[11:23]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: do you have 2 cdroms?
[11:23]<nvyfw>no
[11:23]<ma-pu>C|int: that all depends on your wireless card
[11:23]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: dd if=/dev/cdrom of=ut2004.iso
[11:23]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: do that for the first cd
[11:23]<ma-pu>I do believe there is good tutorial in the gento handbook, which may be interesting to read
[11:24]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: then use the cdrom for the rest of them it doesn't unmount cd1 well
[11:24]<c|ygv>broadcom,
[11:24]<vmz>C|int, when it runs as a guest OS, it's not using any linux drivers at all, it's using networking tricks to use the host OS's connection/drivers
[11:24]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: mount the iso loopback
[11:25]<c|ygv>hee, thats what i need to do, trick it out :)
[11:25]<ygnvm>MissActek: im giving R-studio a try...god hope it works!
[11:25]<mnvrpxrnn>C|int: depends on what network card you have
[11:25]<ygnvm>MissActek: im doing a scan of my raid now...there is no where u have to define the stripe size eh? i suppose it goes and figure it out by itself for each raid volume?
[11:25]<c|ygv>why does it have to depend, :)
[11:26]<rzrrcj>anyone play enemy territory?
[11:26]<c|ygv>I can use the ndiswrapper to the rescue eh
[11:26]<c|ygv>that, I don't even know how to set up :)
[11:26]<mnvrpxrnn>C|int: :D it's co-dependant... what care are you using?
[11:26]<myssaavnc>inetd: I'm afraid I can't really remember much about how to use it. I just fiddled around until I found what worked.
[11:27]<mnvrpxrnn>C|int: that is the only way i can use my card... the linux drivers suck
[11:27]<ygnvm>MissActek: ok..cool...i will giv it a shot too
[11:27]<myssaavnc>inetd: If the disks themselves are fine and haven't been written to since the raid broke, you should be able to get everything back with enough time.
[11:28]<c|ygv>well, maybe some help, and just telling me, what packages, and depedancies I need to donwload etc :)
[11:28]<nvyfw>MetaPhaze, hold on one second
[11:28]<nvyfw>im getting /dev/cdroms/cdrom0 doesnt exsist
[11:28]<myssaavnc>inetd: Incidentally, RAID0 is still fine, but you really should avoid motherboard based solutions. Get a card, even if it's a software based card. That way, if you get a good one, then you can simply replace it if it breaks and the drives will still work as one RAID set.
[11:29]<c|ygv>hi MissActek
[11:29]<myssaavnc>Hi again.
[11:29]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: ok
[11:29]<leyedrg>hi guys
[11:29]<myssaavnc>I found ddrescue in the end.
[11:29]<leyedrg>I've got very wierd problem
[11:30]<ygnvm>MissActek: yeap..i learned my lesson now...im a simple desktop user...thought built-in raid would do more for me
[11:30]<nvyfw>how do i fix this
[11:30]<nvyfw>i link it
[11:30]<nvyfw>but it dont like it
[11:30]<leyedrg>when i try to do `env-update` in chroot i'm getting this error:
[11:30]<leyedrg>[...]
[11:30]<leyedrg>IOError: [Errno 30] Read-only file system: '//etc/profile.env'
[11:30]<mnvrpxrnn>evilx: link what
[11:30]<nvyfw>ops
[11:30]<c|ygv>http://www.broadcom.com/products/Wireless-LAN/802.11-Wireless-LAN-Solutions/BCM94318
[11:30]<nvyfw>fucked it
[11:30]<ygnvm>MissActek: but performance isnt much different...now i am left wit heatlhy drives ...striving to recover data coz of this stupid motherboard
[11:30]<c|ygv>thats what I got, and going test out, FreeBSD 6.1
[11:30]<ygnvm>s/striving/struggling
[11:30]<gxajg>evilx, language please.
[11:30]<leyedrg>but mount tells me that `/` is mounted "rw"
[11:30]<nvyfw>sorry
[11:30]<leyedrg>anyone have any ideas?
[11:31]<nvyfw>accidently deleted the hdd node
[11:31]<gxajg>evilx, I dont mine, others might
[11:31]<gxajg>mind*
[11:31]<przzyrr2>prizman: check dmesg.
[11:31]<myssaavnc>inetd: Well, your motherboard RAID uses the CPU to do it's thinking. It's basically glorified software RAID. If you want a performance boost, get a true hardware card. ARECA makes good ones.
[11:31]<c|ygv>you got it right eXcon
[11:31]<nvyfw>how do i recreate my cdrom node?
[11:31]<leyedrg>EXT3-fs error (device hdb2): ext3_journal_start_sb: Detected aborted journal
[11:31]<leyedrg>Remounting filesystem read-only
[11:31]<mnvrpxrnn>prizman: try mount -o remount -o rw /
[11:31]<leyedrg>MetaPhaze: i already tried it
[11:31]<myssaavnc>inetd: And as you said, if the motherboard goes poof, so does your RAID. You don't have that problem with a RAID card.
[11:32]<leyedrg>MetaPhaze: and it won't help
[11:32]<c|ygv>oh for mine, yea :P
[11:33]<jfznzn0w>hi all
[11:33]<myssaavnc>s/it's thinking/its thinking
