[12:21]<c|ygv>k, let me refase,
[12:21]<ma-pu>eck, just had a ls -la in /usr/src, apparently I have two kernels installed. I wonder wth is going on
[12:21]<fdg2jdsfdac>johaBBa: Not for pcsx2
[12:21]<ma-pu>mabye it was borked in -r6.
[12:22]<rjxrbbr>wow
[12:22]<c|ygv>Firefox doesn't belong on gentoo, opera does, and firefox can just stay with ubuntu :)
[12:22]<c|ygv>hows that , :)
[12:22]<c|ygv>and on windows too.. crashin self, :)
[12:22]<ma-pu>lucky we have the choice
[12:22]<c|ygv>yep, its all about choice
[12:22]<fdg2jdsfdac>johaBBa: it'll run allright... But if you get better than 15fps on anything complex, I'll be impressed.
[12:22]<nac>dj-fu: if you don't emerge gentoo-sources with the symlink use flag, it won't switch the /usr/src/linux symlink to the newest kernel
[12:22]<c|ygv>:- )
[12:22]<nac>although it should be working with the old one
[12:22]<ma-pu>cause you'd have to twist my arm/pay me to use opera
[12:22]<ma-pu>eck, heh, will remmeber that
[12:22]<c|ygv>well, thats up to you
[12:23]<w0z19t1q>Someone use moto4lin?
[12:23]<c|ygv>did people have to twist your arm to use gentoo, eh, noone had to twist mine, I used systems on my own, just like with FreeBSD, etc.. PC BSD :)
[12:23]<c|ygv>and Windows XP for my cad modeling software, maxon and rino3d :)
[12:24]<ma-pu>no, I did it myself. I'm happy with firefox too and would appreciate it if you stopped trying to sell it in here :]
[12:24]<rzrrcj>lol
[12:24]<c|ygv>I am working on its architecture though, for CodeWeavers CrossOVER Pro 5
[12:24]<ma-pu>imho, gecko>you
[12:24]<c|ygv>nope, not trying to sell it at all, only share the nice info :)
[12:24]<ma-pu>It's offtopic though, not related to gentoo support whatsoever
[12:24]<rzrrcj>you work for them dont you?
[12:24]<nac>firefox is free though
[12:24]<fdg2jdsfdac>C|int: What cad modeling software do you use?
[12:24]<rzrrcj>lol
[12:24]<ma-pu>he said earlier that he does, yeah.
[12:25]<rzrrcj>o hehe
[12:25]<c|ygv>maxon 3d cinema, etc, with extras, rhino3d w/ flamingo
[12:25]<ma-pu>eck, make all bzImage install? (I don't use initrd)
[12:25]<nac>dj-fu: yeah
[12:25]<ma-pu>righto
[12:25]<nac>dj-fu: I use make && make modules_install
[12:25]<ma-pu>hopefully this one works
[12:25]<ma-pu>is there a changelog from gentoo-sources r6 to r7?
[12:25]<nac>dj-fu: um, maybe you need to do that to get the modules o build
[12:26]<c|ygv>so if I say I'm using gentoo, and my cad works great on it, that would be advertising eh? o.O
[12:26]<rjxrbbr>C|int, that's quite ia lovely 'under construction' page on epsx2's site :D
[12:26]<nac>dj-fu: try just make modules_install
[12:26]<rzrrcj>C|int: does blender do similiar things?
[12:26]<c|ygv>yes johaBBa,
[12:26]<c|ygv>cracko: , I tried blender, it wasn't around my leage, just like Opera isn't for you all I guess :)
[12:26]<c|ygv>;)
[12:26]<rzrrcj>lol
[12:26]<c|ygv>works both ways I Guess :)
[12:27]<c|ygv>sorry I shared, 1 of the best browsers I have ever experienced on planet earth :)
[12:27]<fxugrvx>mm blender
[12:27]<fdg2jdsfdac>C|int: Those are mostly artistic, no? Don't you do SolidWorks or Catia P3?
[12:27]<c|ygv>won't happen again ; )
[12:27]<fss>Hi there... I used QTParted to resize my windows ntfs partition and it totally formatted it (it sucks, but not a huge biggie).. So, now I have all this freespace, I'm trying to make use of it. Sadly it's under as "hidden" and I cannot make any partition over it!.. Is there a better partition manager (with an interface)...? Thanks
[12:28]<fxugrvx>lss: parted & man :)
[12:28]<nac>lss: cfdisk
[12:28]<c|ygv>animation, 3d environments, I am now working on gaming, and studying Artificial iNtelligence in programming, its real neat
[12:28]<fss>lhunath, thank you.
[12:28]<fxugrvx>:p
[12:28]<rzrrcj>C|int: you just do it all dont you
[12:28]<c|ygv>nope
[12:29]<c|ygv>does gentoo do it all? nah I'm afraid not :)
[12:29]<c|ygv>visoin eh ;)
[12:29]<fdg2jdsfdac>C|int: I see. I do mechanical design and soft-prototyping mostly. Industrial robots.
[12:29]<c|ygv>nice
[12:29]<c|ygv>what cad soft ya work with, 3d rendering eh?
[12:29]<rzrrcj>i mostly program conky
[12:29]<c|ygv>I tried, Ansys, however it wasn't up my ally
[12:29]<c|ygv>you heard of that FinboySlick?
[12:30]<nac>cracko: are you a conky dev?
[12:30]<rzrrcj>eck: no i mean just customizing my conky lol
[12:30]<nac>cracko: lol
[12:30]<c|ygv>hey FinboySlick, -> www.ansys.com
[12:30]<fdg2jdsfdac>C|int: Well, my favorite as far as 3d rendering goes is a little known piece of sofware called Realsoft3D. They've been around since the Amiga days and they definitely know their stuff.
[12:30]<c|ygv>since you were talking about that mechanical, design, etc
[12:30]<fnssxrsvn>there is something weird about the thunderbird search box. For example I have "sender and subject" chosen and I typed in COMS12100. It lists no emails but I have one with subject "End of lectures on COMS12100" for example
[12:31]<ma-pu>brb, testing -r7
[12:31]<c|ygv>I tried, Alias Maya, even latest, however, it was just too much in resources, and rhino3d, I can do same and maxon
[12:31]<fdg2jdsfdac>C|int: I'll have a look.
[12:31]<c|ygv>k
[12:32]<c|ygv>I"m going to college right now, if I get time, I like to play with 3d, been really busy, trying give gentoo some of my attention, its all new to me, I was into debian based systems,
[12:32]<fdg2jdsfdac>C|int: What I like about realsoft is that they put a lot of work into rational surface tools. The software doesn't thessalate before rendering, you never have to worry about polygon count.
[12:32]<c|ygv>ah
[12:32]<fdg2jdsfdac>It doesn't even use polygons for the most part.
[12:32]<c|ygv>:)
[12:33]<fdg2jdsfdac>Only for the OpenGL display.
[12:33]<c|ygv>well ya can check out, rhino3d, and maxon if you want, www.rhino3d.com www.maxon.net
[12:33]<c|ygv>if you dont' know, etc.. up to ya
[12:33]<c|ygv>howeve,r your using linux right?
[12:33]<fdg2jdsfdac>I've used Rhino for a long time, it's a sweet piece of software.
[12:34]<c|ygv>I use them cad, when I"m in my windows environment, I use linux for experience and learning other programming, and playing in isolated environment so to speak :)
[12:34]<fdg2jdsfdac>Well, not for 3D stuff.
[12:34]<c|ygv>FinboySlick: , you have access to a windows system?
[12:34]<grsrs> Does any one have asus K8V-MX or MSI K8MM-V mainbaord
[12:35]<grsrs>Does it work well with linux
[12:35]<zsc>nasas: both work fine
[12:35]<fdg2jdsfdac>C|int: Yes. Though I think we're pretty off-topic here.
[12:35]<grsrs>rsk: i need to have a work station
[12:36]<c|ygv>lol.. can we talk somewhere, so I can show you some of my vision
[12:36]<grsrs>rsk: so it will work 24/7
