[14:26]<crvjc>+how do I setup xv
[14:26]<rrxjjv>+ram_einstein: netstat -tupan
[14:26]<xjffjwsjuf>+yassine, pm ?
[14:26]<dyrdrr>+Kavok, check your driver.
[14:26]<crvjc>+-_-
[14:26]<crvjc>+slocates drive && check :p
[14:26]<mgrm_ogg>+thats kindof hillarious, i have a RAS added address in my dhcp that was added within the last 2 weeks
[14:27]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+my hard drive has just dissappeared
[14:28]<z0ggd>+anyone here got eclasses for monotone and bzr
[14:28]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+that's fixed the hard disk - my bootloader is still only showing me a fa
[14:28]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+cursor
[14:29]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+cahoot: bitlbeed is running fine on 6667. I can't connect to it from irssi using /connect bitlbeed
[14:29]<nrvvnfynv>+what's the opposite of "diff file1.txt file2.txt"? i have 2 text files and i want to print the lines that are exact same in both files. ty
[14:30]<z0ggd>+ram_einstein: sure the hostname bitlbeed is mapped to the host bitlbeed is running on ?
[14:30]<crvjc>+does anyone know how to get xv working?
[14:30]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+r0nny: ummm... no. How do I make sure?
[14:31]<z0ggd>+ping it ?
[14:31]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+hollowsoul: Ctrl does absolutely sod all when looking at the cursor
[14:31]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+help??
[14:31]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+someone?
[14:31]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+please?
[14:31]<vzyppym_hugvnz>+Kavok: it worked fine for me after I emerged it
[14:32]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+r0nny: ping what? localhost:6667? no response
[14:32]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+willwork4foo: unless you ask, we can't
[14:33]<z0ggd>+ram_einstein: jsut connect to localhost from irssi
[14:33]<nycjfrmnn>+hey, I'm using denyhosts, and I have an entry for an ip place in /etc/hosts.deny on the 6th of may, but I just checked my ssh logs and I've been attacked by the same ip on the 19th of may... how is this possible?
[14:34]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+r0nny: haha... too simple
[14:34]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+thanks
[14:34]<z0ggd>+lol
[14:34]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+but ping localhost:6667 didn't work
[14:34]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+dunno why
[14:34]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+IceD^: I don't understand that command
[14:35]<z0ggd>+ram_einstein: ping doesnt like ports
[14:35]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+even ping localhost:631 didn't work. Even though cupsd is running on 631
[14:35]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+IceD^: I've done grub-install /dev/hda a load of times
[14:35]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+r0nny: ah.. no wonder
[14:35]<z0ggd>+ram_einstein: ping is not for services - its for hosts
[14:35]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+r0nny: what's it for services?
[14:36]<z0ggd>+ram_einstein: usually u use a portscanner for that - nmap for example
[14:36]<rrxjjv>+ram_einstein: ping <host> -p <port>
[14:36]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+cahoot: thanks
[14:36]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+r0nny: nmap is good
[14:36]<fjfunsnr>-willwork4foo: simple root(ho0,2) means second partition on first hd is the partition where grub lives. setup (hd0) means boot from hd0 (== hda)
[14:36]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+actually, (hd0,2) is the third partition
[14:37]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+(hd0,1) is the second one.
[14:37]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+start counting at 0, not 1
[14:37]<fjfunsnr>-hmm er yes your right
[14:37]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+tried that - still getting a flashing cursor
[14:37]<z0ggd>+cahoot: -p on ping wont tell it a port, but the pad-bytes for the packets
[14:37]<zrd_gygsvgyg>+Later.
[14:38]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+IceD^: I've done that. I still get a flashing cursor.
[14:40]<nrvvnfynv>+what's the opposite of "diff file1.txt file2.txt"? i have 2 text files and i want to print the lines that are exact same in both files. ty
[14:40]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+IceD^: root(hd0,2) responds with: Error 27: unrecognised command. root (hd0,2) responds with: Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
[14:41]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+setup (hd0) appears to succeed OK
[14:42]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+and when I reboot...
[14:42]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+(rebooting now)...
[14:42]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+I get a flashing cursor in the top left hand corner of the screen.
[14:43]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+OK - wait a sec
[14:43]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+I have to boot into the LiveCD, chroot into my environment, start the ssh daemon, etc etc
[14:43]<awnsjdn-jq000>+I had forgotten how fast and responsive this OS is, even in console mode
[14:48]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+IceD^: output from setup (hd0) within grub: http://pastebin.com/727990
[14:48]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+Like I said earlier - looks good to me
[14:50]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+IceD^: so why am I getting a flashing cursor instead of a grub boot menu?
[14:50]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+OK
[14:50]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+I hate lilo
[14:51]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+and the thing I don't get is - I've written hundreds of grub config files before and they've always worked first time
[14:51]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+I don't understand this - I've spent three days now, on and off, working with this bloody problem
[14:51]<rmzyrrg>-hey
[14:51]<rmzyrrg>-i need help with configuring xorg
[14:51]<rmzyrrg>-when i use xorgconfig, and i do startx then i get an error
[14:52]<rmzyrrg>-when i delete xorg.conf and i start my pc nothing is wrong
[14:54]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+it's not hw problem. I had Gentoo running on this fine before, until my HDD died and I bought a new one.
[14:56]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+aha!
[14:56]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+it works!
[14:57]<rmzyrrg>-is it possible to recompile the kernel with other options
[14:57]<cjzsv1g>+guys i get this on every email server daemon.. Could not get dependency info for "courier-pop3d" , please run /sbin/depscan.sh i also cant send/receive e-mail, what im doing wrong?
[14:59]<crfn>-i'm having trouble booting my system, it says i cannot mount read-only for reiserfs check
[15:00]<lrf>+anyone here have expirience with 3ware raid controllers?
[15:00]<crfn>-paq yes
[15:00]<vzyppym_hugvnz>+paq: i've heard good things about them.. that's about it
[15:01]<lrf>+kale, it shows my RAID1 as degraded but both units are "OK"
[15:01]<lrf>+kale, what should i do?!
[15:01]<crfn>-IceD^: and when i reboot i get the sam error!
[15:02]<crfn>-paq: hardware or software raid?
[15:02]<add-2uggd>-hi, i just had a quick question about network setups. Im staying at a friends place for a bit (ie: a month) and i was wondering, do i need their ISP user/account info to get their landline working while i install gentoo? Or is there some way around that?
[15:02]<kznrd>+willwork4foo : have you tried grub-install?
[15:02]<lrf>+kale, 3ware 7006-2 hard raid
[15:02]<crfn>-IceD^: do i need to change it in fstab?
[15:02]<wyppwjzc9pjj>+Kream: I sorted out the problem. my splash.xpm.gz file was corrupt, and it couldn't be read
[15:02]<crfn>-IceD^: i did check it, bot there is no errors
[15:02]<kznrd>+ahh
[15:03]<xjffjwsjuf>+Amy-bunny, dial-up modem?
[15:03]<add-2uggd>-hollowsoul - high speed
[15:04]<xjffjwsjuf>+Amy-bunny, adsl modem ? connected via ethernet ?
[15:04]<crfn>-IceD^: the filesystem mounts fine, but its when it is doing its read-only filecheck i get the problem, because it cannot read-only mount the filesystem
[15:04]<affggjb>+Amy-bunny: If it's ADSL or cable then you probably won't - you may need to find out what type of connection their modem uses tho, and if it's not ethernet, what type of modem it is as you may need drivers.
[15:05]<add-2uggd>-ethernet goes to their router, beyond that im not sure.
[15:05]<crfn>-paq: did you install tw_cli ?
