[20:56]<awnsjdn-jq000>+dystopianray I screwed them up, I forgot to put keyboard into the input devices
[20:56]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+Awesome-o2000: well I think only xorg-x11 uses that anyway to pull in the right driver package, so it should be fine to just put them in /etc/make.conf and do a regular emerge
[20:57]<amavvr>+I know this isnt necessarily a gentoo question, more of a general linux or compiling question, but can anyone help me work out the problem here http://pastebin.com/728487
[20:57]<sysvnm[1q]>-hello
[20:57]<amavvr>+it is when I try and compile a program I downloaded
[20:57]<awnsjdn-jq000>+it had it blued out
[20:57]<awnsjdn-jq000>+:(
[20:57]<sysvnm[1q]>-does anyone here runs gentoo x64 and can play wolfet ??
[20:57]<xdfan>+hmm, xmms cant open audio output
[20:58]<awnsjdn-jq000>+dystopianray it appears you were correct, I did -avN and it didnt phase it
[20:58]<vzyppym_hugvnz>+kdcttg: looks like you're missing a -I/usr/include.. sure there's no makefile?
[20:58]<awnsjdn-jq000>+much ado about nothing
[20:58]<rrxjjv>+hylje: some other app accessing sound device?
[20:59]<xdfan>+should not be
[20:59]<amavvr>+there is a makefile, i used the make command to do it
[20:59]<amavvr>+thats the error it threw me
[20:59]<rrxjjv>+hylje: xmms uses alsa output?
[20:59]<xdfan>+yes
[20:59]<rrxjjv>+hylje: fuser -v /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p
[21:00]<xdfan>+returns nothing
[21:00]<lnvvndr>+all the wine-related channels are full of dead people...
[21:01]<lnvvndr>+anybody know how to fix err:winecfg:apply_drive_changes unable to define devicename of 'C:', targetpath of '/home/petteyg359/.wine/drive_c'
[21:01]<xdfan>+is there a sure way to check the functionality of ALSA
[21:01]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+petteyg: tried googling that error?
[21:01]<rrxjjv>+hylje: aplay /usr/share/sounds/*wav
[21:01]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+petteyg: maybe try deleting ~/.wine and starting the config again
[21:01]<awnsjdn-jq000>+nice!
[21:01]<lnvvndr>+dystopianray: k
[21:02]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+petteyg: unless you have things installed with wine
[21:02]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+petteyg: then they'll get deletd, which you may not want
[21:03]<xdfan>+good, it outputs sounds from the speaker
[21:04]<rrxjjv>+hylje: o the problem lies with xms
[21:04]<rrxjjv>+hylje: o the problem lies with xmms
[21:04]<xdfan>+looks like so
[21:04]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+hrrm i need some chocolate
[21:04]<amavvr>+Triffid_Hunter: thats the error it threw me when I run make, there is a makefile
[21:04]<xdfan>+then to the fixing--
[21:04]<xdfan>+hmm
[21:04]<rrxjjv>+hylje: seems a lot of userers changed to audacious
[21:05]<dgrvdrggc>+hmm
[21:05]<xdfan>+looks like it works with root but not with user, although i should have the user under audio group
[21:06]<awnsjdn-jq000>+!!! 'net-irc/bitchx-1.1-r1' is not a valid package atom. <--- what did I do to get this error? I didnt specify a version anywhere...
[21:06]<dgrvdrggc>+anybody know if there's an easy way to have Xorg have a desktop size smaller than the resolution it's outputting (ie, have black around it or something)
[21:06]<dgrvdrggc>+Awesome-o2000, try emerge syncing
[21:06]<sdrsxcrv>+Hello, anyone know a program I can use to create an aliases.db file for sendmail in Gentoo?
[21:07]<dgrvdrggc>+SmashCat, any text editor...
[21:07]<rrxjjv>+hylje: groups as user says so too?
[21:07]<sdrsxcrv>+Not the aliases file, the aliases.db file
[21:07]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+SmashCat: you don't have a newaliases program?
[21:07]<dgrvdrggc>+oh.
[21:07]<awnsjdn-jq000>+thats three times in a day, im SO gonna get banned
[21:07]<sdrsxcrv>+dysopianray: newaliases doesn't do anything when I run it.
[21:07]<rrxjjv>+hylje: else logout/login user
[21:07]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+Awesome-o2000: it rotates the servers so it should be alright
[21:08]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+SmashCat: did you run it as root?
[21:08]<djguddycux>+hey folks
[21:08]<sdrsxcrv>+dysopianray: Yep
[21:08]<djguddycux>+when I try to start vmware I get g_return_if_fail_warning
[21:08]<awnsjdn-jq000>+ACTION just hopes he didnt screw this up
[21:08]<djguddycux>+anybody knows whats going on here?
[21:08]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+SmashCat: /etc/mail/aliases: 43 aliases, longest 10 bytes, 600 bytes total
[21:08]<xdfan>+hmm k
[21:08]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+SmashCat: that's what I get when I run it here (although its' not a gentoo box)
[21:08]<djguddycux>+its complaining about libglade-2.0.so.0
[21:08]<dja|xjdn>+DJGummikuh: vmware is closed source. Contact them.
[21:09]<sdrsxcrv>+dysopianray: Yeah, it tells me something like that, but it doesn't actually create the aliases.db file
[21:09]<djguddycux>+doc|home: well maybe someone here had simliar errors I googled for it and it seems to be a gtk problem
[21:09]<djguddycux>+however I found no way to fix it properly
[21:09]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+SmashCat: have you changed he aliases?
[21:09]<djguddycux>+IHK: you should'nt come to irc with your root account...
[21:10]<xdfan>+thanks, logout/login worked
[21:10]<zgmlwjggyww>-manual install is fun
[21:10]<zgmlwjggyww>-:D
[21:10]<zgmlwjggyww>-ACTION is installing on his intel mac mini
[21:10]<sdrsxcrv>+dysopianray: Yep. That's the problem, I need to get the new alias working, but it's not recreating the db file.
[21:10]<xdfan>+but then i would want it to prefer headphone output when headphones are plugged in
[21:10]<djguddycux>+so noone can tell me why vmware fails on that libglade with g_return_if_fail_warning
[21:10]<djguddycux>+?
[21:10]<awnsjdn-jq000>+I have bitch mentioned in my package.use but theres no version info in there
[21:10]<awnsjdn-jq000>+bitchx
[21:10]<rrxjjv>+hylje: usb headset?
[21:11]<xdfan>+normal
[21:11]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+SmashCat: from my man page: " Newaliases is identical to ``sendmail -bi''."
[21:11]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+SmashCat: try running sendmail -bi
[21:11]<sdrsxcrv>+To be honest I think it's time I reinstalled - Gentoo has been getting seriously unstable on the server since I installed it 3 years ago ;-). Spamassassin no longer works, and Samba is ridiculously slow - I use FTP instead now as it's unusable.
[21:12]<djguddycux>+IHK: are you there? stop using irc as root... this is a kind warning :)
[21:12]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+it's not windows, it shouldn't just get slower at random
[21:12]<sdrsxcrv>+dysopianray: I tried the sendmail -bi command earlier '=_
[21:12]<awnsjdn-jq000>+there is a file in my root dir called usr-x11r6-packages and the contents are net-irc/bitchx-1.1-r1
[21:12]<awnsjdn-jq000>+how does this work
[21:12]<duzycs_>-anyone cna help me with timidity?
[21:12]<duzycs_>-http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133400
[21:12]<duzycs_>-it's the same problem, but there is no solution
[21:13]<sdrsxcrv>+dysopianray: I mean it's gradually got worse as I've just been updating it for 3 years now. I'm thinking it's better to just start again with a fresh install.
[21:13]<djguddycux>+LOL amazing I removed libglade alltogether and now vmware works... THAT is odd
[21:14]<xdfan>+so anyone has knowledge on how to make ALSA prefer outputting into headphone jack if headphones are plugged in
[21:14]<awnsjdn-jq000>+dystopianray what is my /root/usr-x11r6-packages for?
[21:14]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+Awesome-o2000: I don't know
[21:14]<mdsvjldzgzzd>+Awesome-o2000: you must have put that there
[21:15]<sdrsxcrv>+Ah! Just thought of an idea ;-) I'll install sendmail from source (from the Sendmail site), in a new directory and use that to create the aliases.db file. Heh!
