[02:22]<ma-pu>ah yep
[02:22]<ma-pu>not too shabby
[02:23]<rj22yna2>Def: If it's a pre-assembled machine, you may also be able to find the specs online with the system code.
[02:23]<vxgcfjgg>Def: i know of programs for windows that will do it, not sure about linux alternatives
[02:23]<rnj>bullring: Paste the last 50 or so lines of output from that build and your `emerge --info` on a paste site please.
[02:23]<ma-pu>shot, gmpc :D
[02:23]<tfkdfn>gmpc++ :)
[02:24]<rnj>thechris: Did you recently reboot that system?
[02:24]<vxnaxzys>ReJ: every night
[02:25]<rnj>thechris: Does the system have /usr/include/stdlib.h ?
[02:25]<2fjjmcryrxv>if my screen squeals at 1280x1024@60, what can I do, while retaining the same resolution? 60hz is the only option for that resolution available in the kcontrol panel
[02:25]<2fjjmcryrxv>I want to gert rid of this damn high-pitched squeal
[02:26]<tyajgmzyus>Hey..anyone know how to get a webserver to spit out what OS it's running on with version?
[02:26]<vxnaxzys>i hate revdeprebuild...
[02:26]<rnj>thechris: If it does, please re-emerge binutils and libtool and stick to one compiler version. Switch gcc versions with care.
[02:26]<tyajgmzyus>Say, on a website you don't have control over?
[02:26]<tfkdfn>bloodknight: maybe change the depth to 16bpp (if its 24/32 currently)?
[02:26]<puzcrg>hi all
[02:27]<vxnaxzys>ReJ: i guess i'll just use GCC4 then... it be nice if GCC were slottable somehow.
[02:27]<cxzjgj>hi
[02:27]<tfkdfn>thechris: gcc is slotted
[02:27]<puzcrg>I would like to know is it apm suspend or suspend v 2 is the best, which one (stability, speed)?
[02:27]<srmnm>Someone say my name
[02:27]<rnj>thechris: It is SLOTable...
[02:27]<2fjjmcryrxv>TFKyle, hrm, not sure I want to do that.. how would I do it?
[02:27]<r2_fxyfr>my name
[02:27]<srmnm>How do I launch wine with alsa support and not oss?
[02:28]<rnj>thechris: For instance, on one of my systems I had gcc-3.4.5 installed for two months before I switched to it from gcc-3.3.6. No problem there.
[02:28]<vxnaxzys>TFKyle: i was being sarcastic. i'm having issues with even having more then 1 gcc version. gcc3.4 doens't play nice
[02:28]<ma-pu>sayed
[02:28]<srmnm>dj-fu Yes?
[02:28]<ma-pu>is that what you wanted?
[02:28]<2uffzyrr>ReJ, here is the page http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-455347-start-0-postdays-0-postorder-asc-highlight-.html
[02:28]<srmnm>dj-fu Huh?
[02:28]<srmnm>How do I launch wine with alsa support and not oss?
[02:29]<ma-pu><sayed> Someone say my name
[02:29]<ma-pu>#winehq
[02:29]<tfkdfn>bloodknight: in xorg.conf make sure you have a Display Subsection of the Screen section that has the depth that you want to change it to (Depth 16) for example, then in the Screen Section Set DefaultDepth to 16
[02:29]<ma-pu>you configure it in winecfg, iirc.
[02:30]<tfkdfn>*s/of/in/ I guess
[02:30]<tfkdfn>bloodknight: dunno if that will help though, its just a guess
[02:32]<cxzjgj>can anyone help with my floppy :)
[02:32]<r2_fxyfr>iv got a sparc but no sun monitor, no sun keyboard, and no null modem cable. i have a gentoo 2004.1 live cd. id like to ssh to the sparc after loading the livecd. is this possible (does the livecd automatically run dhcpcd and sshd, and is the root password scrambled or 'root' or what?
[02:33]<zjznztt>jb_phila, sshd isn't started automatically and the password is scrambled
[02:33]<2fjjmcryrxv>TFKyle, thanx
[02:33]<cxzjgj>plz can anyone help with my floppy?
[02:33]<vxnaxzys>i have no idea. it just keeps tellimg me that proj1.tab.c's malloc and free throw different exceptions then those in /usr/include/stdlib.h
[02:33]<r2_fxyfr>k. thanks
[02:34]<rnj>bullring: https://bugs.gentoo.org/130462 might explain things somewhat.
[02:36]<cxzjgj>when i try to mount floppy it says, mount: /dev/fd0 is not a block device
[02:37]<cxzjgj>my fstab says /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto 0 0
[02:38]<gjfmgggj2fyg>TFKyle, I just did an `emerge sync` but the version of gtk-gnutella in portage is still 0.95.4-r1... did you specifically want me to install from portage or can I just download the latest package from the gtk-gnutella website?
[02:38]<djzgjg>Chrono: does: dmesg | grep -i flop report anything back?
[02:38]<tyajgmzyus>When will Gentoo be safe for use as a production webserver distro?
[02:38]<vxnaxzys>so anyone have any ideas why bison or glibc isn't working correctly. it gives me errors with *.tab.c and stdlib.h
[02:39]<cxzjgj>moreon, no nothing
[02:39]<dja|xjdn>Ticondrius: #gentoo-server :/
[02:39]<djzgjg>Chrono: okay, did you compile in support for your floppy drive into the kernel?
[02:40]<dja|xjdn>Ticondrius: right now, a lot of things are changing because of badly needed improvements being made. Hopefully it should settle soon
[02:40]<tfkdfn>GoldenGoblin: you're most likely running stable, 0.96.1 is in instable currently, so to merge it you have to add it to package.keywords (echo "net-p2p/gtk-gnutella ~x86" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords assuming your arch is x86)
[02:40]<rnj>bullring: More specifically: http://docpp.sourceforge.net/ "The current stable version is DOC++ 3.4.10, released on December 22, 2002."
[02:40]<cxzjgj>moreon, i used the new installer and used the kernel from the disk
[02:40]<tfkdfn>s/instable/unstable/
[02:40]<-- svgvsdyzgjvr xrs>/dev/null")
[02:41]<gjfmgggj2fyg>TFKyle, alright, thanks, I'll try that out.
[02:41]<tyajgmzyus>doc|home: Just like last srpings "much needed changes" that broke portage for 2005.1?
[02:41]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>Chrono, try modprobe floppy
[02:41]<djzgjg>Chrono: try 'modprobe floppy' -- if that doesn't report any errors, try the..
[02:41]<djzgjg>mount command again :P
[02:42]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>Sorry moreon
[02:42]<qunff>.
[02:42]<djzgjg>im kidding :)
[02:42]<cxzjgj>moreon, no still the same
[02:42]<djzgjg>Chrono: did you get an error with 'modprobe floppy' ?
[02:42]<cxzjgj>moreon, no
[02:43]<dja|xjdn>Ticondrius: :/
[02:43]<djzgjg>NeddySeagoon: why are you prodding me? :(
[02:43]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>Chrono, It will work now
[02:43]<fsssss>where does the gentoo install the files
[02:44]<djzgjg>You tell him what to do next, I'm lost :) If it didn't report any errors, it should work :P
[02:44]<_skytzo>hm.. not good. i get a big red rectangle titled "ACCESS VIOLATION SUMMARY" when emerging gentoo-sources. what is this?
[02:44]<fsssss>i have installed zwiki but i do not view the init script
[02:44]<vxnaxzys>hmm. i wonder if gentoo has messed up its bison package
[02:44]<rnj>_SKiTZO: What command did you run to emerge gentoo-sources?
[02:44]<rnj>_SKiTZO: What version of sys-apps/sandbox do you use?
[02:45]<2nusvnz>'57
[02:45]<tyajgmzyus>Can someone suggest a more stable distro for running a heavily trafficked webserver on?
[02:45]<fsssss>how can i do view the files installed in a one package by gentoo ?
[02:45]<ma-pu>openbsd
[02:45]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>Ticondrius, more stable than what ?
[02:45]<ma-pu>not exactly a distro
[02:45]<tyajgmzyus>..that doesn't crash on trying to load the SATA drivers for the INtel PIIX chipset?
[02:45]<rnj>Ticondrius: Hardly on topic, I'd say.
[02:45]<tyajgmzyus>Being that OpenBSD crashes on said driver
[02:45]<vxnaxzys>i think there is a bug in Gentoo's bison...
[02:45]<rnj>Ticondrius: Try #apache for that kind of question.
[02:45]<tyajgmzyus>okies
[02:45]<ma-pu>I'd put money that it's something you're doing
[02:46]<tyajgmzyus>dj, the PIIX driver bug is a known problem in OpenBSD
[02:46]<_skytzo>Rej fresh install. everything is new
