[16:00]<rvrvrrrrfj>does anyone use sarg to generate squid reports?
[16:01]<jzjzjz>hi there
[16:02]<jzjzjz>anyone had issue with mysql upgrades ?
[16:02]<jzjzjz>now i can t even start the server
[16:02]<xdfan>how can i enable gnome-screenshot
[16:02]<xdfan>or set it use another screenshot prog
[16:02]<zunffn>hydrogen: import -window root is a good screenshotprog.
[16:03]<rfprrruyr>openssl has emacs integration? o_O
[16:04]<zxyrrg>i'm having problems with my dpi, i want to use the nvidia drivers but they for some reason use an insane dpi setting 37x57 or something. where can i tweak this?
[16:04]<xdfan>ruelle: yes but id like to have pritn scrn automagically do screenshot
[16:04]<xdfan>s
[16:04]<xjffjwsjuf>hylje, enable gnome-screenshot ? emerge -av gnome-utils if thats what u mean
[16:05]<zxyrrg>i pasted my xorg.conf here(http://rafb.net/paste/results/YjnlBd57.html), but i don't think anything strange is in it
[16:06]<xdfan>hollowsoul: ty
[16:06]<rvrvrrrrfj>im getting a sort error when i try to generate sarg reports
[16:06]<zunffn>hylje: you can write a shellscript to enumarate you screenshots automatically.
[16:07]<xdfan>i know how to get screenshots, i just want to get them through clicking print scrn :)
[16:07]<rvrvrrrrfj>it's saying cant open index.sort
[16:07]<gyrxjfrs0>i have done a freash gentoo installation, but it seems as if something is wrong with my &dev directory, all possible devices files are there. i dont understand why since im on a 2.6.X kernel with udev _
[16:07]<rfprrruyr>likewhoa: this is where it either works or goes horribly wrong ;)
[16:07]<gyrxjfrs0>sorry, bad keyboard setup :)
[16:08]<mzcxzgmzz>ruelle: Can you insert a comment or a screenshot number into the image of the screenshot?
[16:08]<zunffn>nicholas0: in /etc/conf.d/rc you can disable that udev saves all device-files.
[16:08]<gyrxjfrs0>ruelle, aha, and is this normal&default behaviour?
[16:08]<zunffn>DrChandra: maybe with convert or mogrify.
[16:08]<zunffn>nicholas0: yes, saving all devices on shutdown is default.
[16:09]<zunffn>nicholas0: open /etc/conf.d/rc and search for "UDEV" or "udev"
[16:09]<gyrxjfrs0>thanks
[16:10]<mzcxzgmzz>RC_DEVICE_TARBALL="yes"
[16:10]<mzcxzgmzz>nicholas0: Change the to "no"
[16:10]<gyrxjfrs0>yep :)
[16:11]<gyrxjfrs0>..but if i can ask, i dont see how it causes them all to show up, because of udev saving on shutdown?
[16:12]<zunffn>nicholas0: they will be restored when you boot you computer.
[16:13]<gyrxjfrs0>yes, but how did they appear in the first place? because on the live cd, they arent there?
[16:14]<zunffn>nicholas0: i think gentoo ships the first device-tarball with udev.
[16:14]<gyrxjfrs0>aha, with the stage3.. i see
[16:14]<2ggaz_>genlop isnt very accurate
[16:14]<zunffn>nicholas0: but im not sure. change the "yes" to "no" reboot and you will see.
[16:14]<rvrvrrrrfj>anyone know anything about what i was saying..
[16:15]<rvrvrrrrfj>nevermind, i added the newest version to package.mask and emerged an earlier version. it works now. thanks.
[16:16]<zryfc>trying to emerge ipw2200 (intell wireless drivers), get error "* ieee802-1.1.13 requires the in-kernel version of the IEEE802.11 subsystem to be disabled (CONFIG_IEEE80211) * Please check to make sure these options are set correctly. * Faiture to do so may cause unexpected problems. * Once you have satisfied these options, please try merging this package again."
[16:16]<gzgg_>hi all
[16:16]<zunffn>there is only a release candidate of xorg-x11-7.1 in the portage tree.
[16:16]<gzgg_>i'm finding patches which is in ebuild files
[16:16]<zryfc>what do i have to change to disable the in-kernel version?
[16:17]<gzgg_>who can help me about it ?
[16:17]<2ggaz_>why do i get 8 messages similar to "configuration error - unknown item 'MOTD_FILE' (notify administrator)" every time i login
[16:17]<dyzyvzfznzlnz>kobject_register failed for via-rhine (-17)
[16:17]<gzgg_>epatch ${FILESDIR}/${PN}-2.10.1-esd_switch.patch
[16:17]<dyzyvzfznzlnz>what does that mean?
[16:17]<gzgg_>how can i find this patch ?
[16:17]<dyzyvzfznzlnz>the NIC works, but it throws up that error plus several more
[16:17]<xjffjwsjuf>benjr_, tried runnin etc-update or dispatch-conf ?
[16:17]<deeygge>ruelle: 7.1 is in the tree.
[16:18]<2ggaz_>hollowsoul: ill try those now
[16:18]<deeygge>ruelle: well, xorg-server-1.1.0 is, and afaik the other bits are up to date too.
[16:19]<xjffjwsjuf>benjr_, use dispatch-conf it can make backups of config files. never used it myself though (old habbits die hard)
[16:20]<2ggaz_>this might be related to the "IMPORTANT: 20 config files in /etc need updating" i get?
[16:20]<fycnwxjr>benjr_: yes....
[16:20]<gzgg_>who can help me about gentoo patched ? i want to download patch which is in ebuild file ???
[16:20]<gzgg_>patches*
[16:21]<mzzvxvzmnz>hey guyz..i have question..if i only install gentoo in my computer..do i still need to install grub/lilo bootloader?
[16:21]<mzzvxvzmnz>i dont need it to be dual boot because its my server.
[16:21]<fycnwxjr>DarthVader: either or.. grub is good
[16:21]<deeygge>DarthVader: yes. You can disable the menu though.
[16:22]<mzzvxvzmnz>marienz likewhoa, thanks guyz..
[16:23]<mzzvxvzmnz>i have some question about hardened gentoo..is hardened gentoo a OS of gentoo or just kernel?
[16:23]<mzzvxvzmnz>i'm planning to make a DNS, proxy and IDS server...
[16:24]<mzzvxvzmnz>i'm confused with hardened..
[16:24]<dyzyvzfznzlnz>if you dont get a relpy here, there's a #gentoo-hardened channel
[16:25]<wyynz>are there any special flags for right-to-left (arabic, hebrew) and complix text support?
[16:26]<mzzvxvzmnz>DigitalReaper..ok..thanks
[16:26]<2ggaz_>i emerged an app, canceled it after it unpacked the file, patched the unpacked files, then went emerge --resume, but it keeps re-unpacking the package again, undoing the pacthing i just did
[16:26]<wyynz>something i should state in make.conf that is
[16:26]<mzzvxvzmnz>DigitalReaper, actually i post their but there are no people answering my questions..hehhe.
[16:26]<dyzyvzfznzlnz>:/
[16:27]<dyzyvzfznzlnz>give it time, sometimes you can wait for hours until someone replies
[16:27]<dyzyvzfznzlnz>especially if the channel is kinda quiet
[16:30]<dyzyvzfznzlnz>anyone know what "kobject_register failed for via-rhine (-17)" means? and why does my NIC still work?
[16:30]<mzzvxvzmnz>DigitalReaper,yah..ehheh.thanks..
[16:31]<wyynz>anyone uses rtl here?
[16:32]<2ggaz_>how do i "pause" an emerge?
[16:32]<dyzyvzfznzlnz>i'm also getting 10 lines similar to "[<c0221e2b>] kobject_register+0x6b/0x80"
[16:32]<zunffn>beejay_: fork bombing
[16:32]<dzza_zfna>benjr_: ctrl+z
[16:32]<2ggaz_>mark_alec: i tried that but its not doing quiet what i want
[16:33]<mzcxzgmzz>DigitalReaper: That is a failure to register a kernel object, followed by the stack dump of a kernel oops
[16:33]<mnvrpxrnn>is /etc/services where i comment out services i don't want to be used?
[16:33]<dzza_zfna>benjr_: what do you want it to do?
[16:33]<zunffn>MetaPhaze: no.
[16:33]<2ggaz_>mark_alec: i emerged an app, canceled it after it unpacked the file, patched the unpacked files, then went emerge --resume, but it keeps re-unpacking the package again, undoing the pacthing i just did
[16:33]<zunffn>MetaPhaze: use rc-update to add or del services
[16:33]<mzcxzgmzz>DigitalReaper: It might not really be an oops, but just a call to "bug".
[16:33]<dyzyvzfznzlnz>hmm?
[16:33]<xjffjwsjuf>benjr_, have a look @ http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Create_an_Updated_Ebuild to make a overlay ebuild with the patch
[16:34]<mnvrpxrnn>ruelle, so if i didn't start the service or if the service isn't running by xinetd or in rc-status then i don't have to worry about the port being open?
[16:34]<2ggaz_>hollowsoul: someone guided me throught this once before, the pausing thing and it worked that time
[16:34]<mzcxzgmzz>DigitalReaper: Seems like whoever wrote the via-rhine code called bug when they failed to register their object, but they are able to let the rest of the code run, so they chose not to panic the kernel.
[16:35]<zunffn>MetaPhaze: "lsof -i | grep LISTEN" shows open tcp-ports.
[16:35]<dyzyvzfznzlnz>i have no idea what that means...
