[16:35]<mnvrpxrnn>what about udp?
[16:35]<2ggaz_>i just want the emerge to resume from the configure point onwards, and no re-unpack
[16:35]<mzcxzgmzz>DigitalReaper: Report it to the device driver developer.
[16:35]<zunffn>MetaPhaze: type lsof -i to show all open internet connections.
[16:36]<mnvrpxrnn>ruelle, thanks
[16:36]<dyzyvzfznzlnz>how?
[16:36]<szfvfzacnzf>hi
[16:37]<mnvrpxrnn>ruelle, lsof file not found
[16:37]<zunffn>emerge lsof
[16:37]<mnvrpxrnn>ruelle, is that better than netstat?
[16:37]<mzcxzgmzz>DigitalReaper: Search the kernel mailing list archives for previous reports. If there are none, report it to them. The least they will do is point you to the developer, and ask you to send email directly.
[16:37]<zunffn>lsof lists open files.
[16:37]<szfvfzacnzf>does anybody know, where i could get compiz-0.0.9_p20060404 from?
[16:38]<mzcxzgmzz>DigitalReaper: Chances are someone saw this already.
[16:38]<zunffn>MetaPhaze: netstat -tulpen
[16:38]<sdfvrgvxys>hello can anyone help me with a internet thingy? i want who pc s to be on the same intern network interface
[16:38]<sdfvrgvxys>this is my /etc/conf.d/net: http://pastebin.com/735001
[16:38]<mnvrpxrnn>ruelle, kind of figured lsof was list open files :D... thanks
[16:38]<sdfvrgvxys>but i don't really get it
[16:39]<sdfvrgvxys>two pc s
[16:39]<cpjgnpysx>sylvanthis: You want two PC's on the same internal network interface?
[16:39]<sdfvrgvxys>yes
[16:39]<zunffn>MetaPhaze: lsof is useful to find open dirs and files that block umount.
[16:39]<jnppatl>how do we best set up disk spindown on inactivity?
[16:39]<sdfvrgvxys>with dhcp
[16:40]<mnvrpxrnn>ruelle, cool cause so far fuser isn't very good at it
[16:40]<cpjgnpysx>That sounds like all kinds of impossible..
[16:40]<sdfvrgvxys>how do i talk to someone specifacally? what command?
[16:40]<zunffn>headBump2: hdparm -S180 /dev/hda
[16:40]<zunffn>JeffATL:
[16:41]<cpjgnpysx>sylvanthis: What client are you using? Your version response is broken, so I'm guessing some dodgy web based thing
[16:41]<sdfvrgvxys>im using dhcpcd
[16:41]<cpjgnpysx>IRC client.
[16:41]<sdfvrgvxys>i set up the net thingy myself, but i dont know quite how to
[16:41]<sdfvrgvxys>oh
[16:41]<sdfvrgvxys>xchat irc
[16:41]<cpjgnpysx>Next question, why would you want DHCP with just two computers?
[16:42]<pnc>moin
[16:42]<sdfvrgvxys>because i dont know how to configure everything
[16:42]<cpjgnpysx>Yes you do.
[16:42]<sdfvrgvxys>is my config file set right?
[16:42]<cpjgnpysx>See where pastebin says 192.168.0.1 and 2? That's just about the only thing you could get from DHCP
[16:43]<cpjgnpysx>DNS, as well, but that's easy
[16:43]<sdfvrgvxys>oh ok
[16:43]<sdfvrgvxys>so what do i change in my file?
[16:43]<gj2fnd>I have about 10 packages blocking an emerge of kde, eg. kwin,.. do I have to manually unmerge those packages?
[16:43]<cpjgnpysx>One second.
[16:43]<sdfvrgvxys>ok
[16:43]<jnppatl>ruelle: thanks (i just checked man hdparm) - should that command go into some sort of rc file?
[16:43]<cpjgnpysx>(btw, a network INTERFACE is the card/chip/port in your computer. You can't have two computers using one of those :)
[16:44]<sdfvrgvxys>oh ok haha
[16:44]<caayza>nobley: sound like you're mixing split and solid kde builds
[16:44]<caayza>sounds*
[16:44]<sdfvrgvxys>like eth0?
[16:44]<ajzrl>I upgraded from gcc 3.4.4 to 3.4.6 and some packages are still looking for gcc 3.4.4, how should I fix that?
[16:44]<cpjgnpysx>eth0 is the name of an interface, yes
[16:44]<cycsgg>JeffATL: /etc/conf.d/local.start would be a good candidate
[16:44]<caayza>jorgp: gcc-config ?
[16:44]<gj2fnd>Im afraid so kojiro, is there any way to force it to do a solid kde build over my split build
[16:45]<caayza>nobley: no, you have to entirely pick one or the other, and switching between them means you have to completely unmerge the other first
[16:45]<zunffn>JeffATL: /etc/conf.d/hdparm and rc-update add hdparm default
[16:45]<cpjgnpysx>Hang on, 138? Are you using an Alcatel/Thompson ADSL modem?
[16:45]<sdfvrgvxys>yes i think
[16:45]<sdfvrgvxys>i ll go check
[16:45]<caayza>nobley: the good news is, once you get the whole thing built (solid or -meta), you can quickpkg.
[16:46]<sdfvrgvxys>it is a speedtouch
[16:46]<cpjgnpysx>Sounds like one of those godawful things Telstra hand out.
[16:46]<cpjgnpysx>Okay, here's the thing
[16:47]<cpjgnpysx>Your "modem" runs on the 10.x.x.x range. You're simultaneously setting your machine to static 192.168.x.x AND dynamic 10.x.x.x, which just doesn't make sense.
[16:47]<xjffjwsjuf>jorgp, if gcc-config doesnt work out also try emerge libtool (emerge it again even if u have it) && fix_libtool_files.sh 3.4
[16:47]<sdfvrgvxys>ok
[16:47]<sdfvrgvxys>so 10.0.0.138 must change?
[16:48]<cpjgnpysx>Now 192.168.x.x is all well and good normally, BUT those modems are complete bastards to switch over, so I recommend using 10.x.x.x across the board.
[16:48]<sdfvrgvxys>ok
[16:48]<gj2fnd>if I emerge -p kde it will list all the individual compenents first which if I emerge those I will get everything I need?
[16:48]<ajzrl>hollowsoul: ok, because there is no more gcc 3.4.4 and apmd wants /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.4/crtbeginS.o
[18:01]<mzpzysn>how can I use dhcp to get ip?
[18:01]<ogyl>djbeenie, no. just emerge wine
[18:01]<zyaxynpzyax>http://penguinslair.dyndns.org
[18:01]<zyaxynpzyax>wrong window
[18:02]<ma2gggyg>i have wine emerged...how do I emulate ms programs
[18:02]<mzpzysn>I put iface_eth0="dhcp" in conf.d/net
[18:03]<tnanjdrjd>ò
[18:03]<tnanjdrjd>ùìåí
[18:03]<mzpzysn>and it says no loaded modules provide "dhcp"
[18:03]<caayza>roit
[18:03]<rycyn>does there exist an OpenOffice channel?
[21:05]<ducfzzn>thanks stuuf, that does the job.
[21:05]<czzzfj>natoka: What do u mean accessible? Every connection requires ssh with password.
[21:06]<erlxrgms_>can anyone read this?
[21:06]<grvjcr>kaarlo: sure, but it makes the port itself available to the whole internet
[21:06]<svuup>no =P
[21:06]<afnw>Yes.
[21:06]<sdvxd>'evening. Any1 know how well Gentoo supports the new MacBooks (in respect to battery life, etc..) ? :)
[21:06]<grvjcr>kaarlo: anyway there are better ways to that too
[21:07]<czzzfj>natoka: Sorry, which port 22 or 10000 (from the example)?
[21:07]<cwwvx>hum i currently have my dns handled on a box running bind, im setting up nsd on another box and wat that to be primary name server... however do i have to do any thing magic to get it to change
[21:07]<grvjcr>kaarlo: 10000 and 22 of middle of course
[21:16]<fdnfmd>emerge -pv whatever shows what USE flags that ebuild will listen to. outside that, it will ignore the rest
[21:16]<erlxrgms_>kojiro: I'm having trouble installing gentoo. while emerging the system sys-app/help2man it quits at the configure stage and says it needs gettext. but gettext is already installed... what can I do?
