[21:57]<mrvvyrs>next i need help with. how do i make so azureus updates itself without getting errors?
[21:58]<bfdrv>any idea why my busybox never came with a config file or where i could get one?
[21:58]<xzzfgfuygtw7>Mattias: My dear you'll need the blood a a 3 day old dead chicken and two ostrich feathers.
[21:58]<n2nzm>hey Is it normal for me to use the lsmod command and get nothing but the hedders???
[21:59]<mrvvyrs>harlequin516, ooh. u mean i should go as root. copy the jar it downloaded and put it where azurues is now? :P
[21:59]<ma2gggyg>harlequin: command not found again
[22:00]<egx>Hello.
[22:00]<xzzfgfuygtw7>Mattias: Conventional medicine works sometimes but it may anger the spirits.
[22:00]<mrvvyrs>harlequin516, guess i should backup before i try then :)
[22:01]<egx>I am trying to execute fsck from the livecd. but it dies with a very odd error message. (http://isl33t.net/pastebin/?read=58) -- What can cause this?
[22:01]<xzzfgfuygtw7>Mattias: Yes we will pray for you and yours.
[22:01]<zz2dmpuz2d>I noticed perl-cleaner got merged when I upgraded perl to 5.8.8-r1 today...is something I need to run, kind of like python-updater?
[22:01]<bfdrv>Whenever I try to compile busybox, it always fails, saying that it can't find its own .config file.
[22:02]<svuup>yeah, perl-cleaner rebuilds all your perl modules
[22:02]<duzycs_>is there anyway to use freenx with remote desktop (or vnc) on the client?
[22:02]<zz2dmpuz2d>stuuf: ok, thanks
[22:02]<duzycs_>ahem, ignore the freenx part =)
[22:02]<mrvvyrs>omg. just typed slocate --e /mnt/win and it started go berzerk :P
[22:03]<wycylnmyr-grsv>why
[22:03]<mrvvyrs>how do i remove /mnt/win from slocate? :/
[22:03]<mrvvyrs>i don't wanna search there
[22:03]<nac>edit /etc/updatedb.conf
[22:03]<svuup>Mattias: man updatedb
[22:03]<zyvnzzrv>Mattias: It should have only had 1 '-'
[22:03]<tnfndra>When I try to start sendmail I get following message "May 24 20:38:56 ulysse postfix/master[15373]: fatal: 0.0.0.0:smtp: Servname not supported for ai_socktype" in /var/log/messages, anyone has a idea ?
[22:04]<mrvvyrs>stuuf, ty
[22:04]<mygjfygue>hi, need some help with USB on gentoo
[22:04]<dnfvnz>is there a way to change bash's quote character, for example: echo X''"'"''"X
[22:04]<mygjfygue>i have a usb mouse, but it doesn't work
[22:04]<mygjfygue>lsusb only shows the USB root
[22:05]<mjjm>does sysfs replace devfs?
[22:05]<svuup>dood: no, udev replaces devfs
[22:05]<mjjm>or do i not need to mount devfs anymore? (at install)
[22:05]<rgdaxys>anyone here use a console aim client?
[22:05]<mjjm>just proc?
[22:05]<fzjzbnzz>hello, anyone using e17?
[22:05]<svuup>dood: for the chroot?
[22:06]<zz2dmpuz2d>dinolinuz: did you compile everything you need into your kernel? IIRC, USB mice require "USB human interface device" support
[22:06]<mygjfygue>i think, i'll have look
[22:06]<mjjm>i've extracted the tarball, usually i mount devfs and proc
[22:06]<mjjm>but would it just be proc now?
[22:06]<egx>Erm. I just booted my computer. It boots the kernel successfully.. but when it tries to mount the root partition it fails. A hour ago everything worked fine. I have not touched anything of this harddisk (I just switched it). What can be wrong? I cannot mount it in busybox/livecd either. fsck fails in busybox. mount generates a ugly message (http://isl33t.net/pastebin?read=57). fsck on the livecd gives a Floating Point.. what's going on.. is everything lost?
[22:06]<svuup>bind mount dev and proc
[22:06]<svuup>mount --bind /dev /mnt/gentoo/dev
[22:06]<rnsaunn>FrogBear: I know a few people who are using e17 now.
[22:06]<svuup>same with proc
[22:07]<fgzgmzjzf>On boot: "Cannot create directory '/newroot/tmp':Read-only file system", Did something see this message before?
[22:08]<drvvdrvvnx>anyone know why the xfce4 calendar starts on sat when it should start on sun ?
[22:08]<ma2gggyg>harlequin: command not found again
[22:08]<mjjm>stuuf: some people have mentioned sysfs, is that down the wrong path?
[22:08]<fzjzbnzz>Rescue9: ever heard of getting chooseSessionListWidget error? It may not be an e17 thing but an X error or something?
[22:08]<svuup>you should mount sysfs too
[22:08]<mjjm>okies, ta
[22:09]<rnsaunn>FrogBear: I've not heard of it... I can put you in touch with a few people who have tested e17 a lot more than myself if you'd like.
[22:10]<drvvdrvvnx>znh, look at dmesg
[22:10]<fzjzbnzz>Rescue9: that would be great...I've followed the Steps for e17 on the gentoo wiki, but I think I'm missing something.
[22:10]<drvvdrvvnx>znh, i just lost my drive last week. still emerging packages on a new drive now
[22:10]<egx>mattmatteh: http://isl33t.net/pastebin/?read=59
[22:11]<drvvdrvvnx>znh, that was from dmesg ?
[22:11]<egx>mattmatteh: yes :)
[22:11]<vjdnc1q>anybody know how to make a running process sleep? just like if i executed it in a terminal, and pressed CTRL+Z
[22:12]<drvvdrvvnx>znh, that doesnt look like a HD failure. mine was invalid code on the ide controller and could not read sector xxxxxx. your file system looks funny or maybe missing an option in the kernel ?
[22:12]<egx>tomek32: by sending a signal.. maybe pkill can do teh job
[22:12]<drvvdrvvnx>znh, try the live cd again and check dmesg when you try to mount
[22:12]<egx>mattmatteh: I am on the livecd. should work. it's just ext2.
[22:12]<drvvdrvvnx>znh, that was from the live cd ?
[22:13]<egx>mattmatteh: i've already booted allot of times.. tried a different IDE cable.. same results
[22:13]<vjdnc1q>thanks, i'll check into it
[22:13]<egx>mattmatteh: yep
[22:13]<drvvdrvvnx>znh, what mount command ?
[22:13]<ma2gggyg>GRRRR
[22:13]<zryfc_>is the output from genkernel stored somewhere?
[22:13]<egx>mattmatteh: mount /dev/hda3 /mnt/gentoo (others work fine)
[22:13]<zz2dmpuz2d>mattmatteh: I've wondered about that too. The changelog for xfce4.2 calendar says "First day of the week option removed (managed through the locale settings in gtk 2.4 and above)."
[22:13]<ma2gggyg>why does gentoo load kdm and does nothing but bring me to the console logon prompt?
[22:14]<ma2gggyg>no errors or nothing
[22:14]<drvvdrvvnx>djbeenie, did you add xdm to the default run level ?
[22:14]<caayza>djbeenie: there probably are errors in X logs
[22:14]<drvvdrvvnx>djbeenie, and edit the config file ?
[22:14]<drvvdrvvnx>radiodog, hmm
[22:14]<drvvdrvvnx>radiodog, oooops
[22:15]<drvvdrvvnx>rabidfurby, ill have to look at that. all i know is that its broke now
[22:15]<sdl99oo>how can i view the startup errors gentoo puts out during boot?
[22:16]<ma2gggyg>xdm is already there
[22:16]<bfdrv>Hey, I have a really annoying problem... whenever I try to emerge -vauD world, busybox ALWAYS fails, because it can't find its own config file. Could someone send me theirs or point me towards something? This is really annoying
[22:16]<ma2gggyg>at run level
[22:16]<ma2gggyg>kdm is in my config file
[22:16]<jnsvnw>when I emerge hostap-driver I get an error " ....warning:implicit declaration of function 'pcmcia_deregister_client' ". anyone come across this before?
[22:16]<dddjzvrfdvd>can someone help me setup up my wifi, i have been trying for days, but it is unable to connect :x
[22:16]<drvvdrvvnx>znh, might try dd if=/dev/hda3 of=/dev/null see if it can read the partition. if that succeeds then the physical drive is fine and the file system is goofy
[22:16]<sjugmsjfmynz>immortality: what do you mean unable to connect?
[22:17]<egx>mattmatteh: which means all my data is last on that partition
[22:17]<egx>mattmatteh: *lost
[22:17]<sdl99oo>how can i view the startup errors gentoo puts out during boot?
[22:17]<rjdnrj>anyone experienced kacpid taking 100% cpu with 2.6.16?
[22:17]<dddjzvrfdvd>well
[22:17]<drvvdrvvnx>znh, check dmesg after for i/o errors. well you will know what you are trying to fix. so all hope not lost yet
[22:17]<dddjzvrfdvd>when do iwconfig ath0
[22:18]<dddjzvrfdvd>i get the essid name and that it accepted the key
[22:18]<dddjzvrfdvd>but the link is 0/94
