[02:53]<zunnpnpzd>skge: do you have the AMD64 version?
[02:53]<kzfymzzg>oh
[02:53]<kzfymzzg>ive got AC97
[02:54]<scrn>guzzlefry: nah, x86
[02:54]<kzfymzzg>all 3 of my computers have it lol
[02:54]<zunnpnpzd>oh well, maybe this will still work :-)
[02:54]<pxjfdns>Thanks kojiro
[02:54]<rgmznwmra>Kalidarn: wait maybe i do too, look at this
[02:54]<kzfymzzg>lspci |grep -i audio
[02:54]<kzfymzzg>do that
[02:55]<kzfymzzg>or lspci | grep -i audio
[02:55]<kzfymzzg>rather
[02:55]<lwy>hello everyone. i have a rather silly problem: i played around with my xorg a little bit and now i can't type <>|[] and ~ anywhere within kde. however the keys work normally in console. can anyone help me?
[02:55]<zunnpnpzd>edit /usr/bin/firefox and comment out this--> #exec /usr/libexec/mozilla-launcher "$@" and then add below that aoss /usr/libexec/mozilla-launcher "$@"
[02:55]<rgmznwmra>Kalidarn: nVidia Corporation nForce3 250Gb AC'97 Audio Controller (rev a1)
[02:55]<kzfymzzg>LWi, did u keep a backup of ur xorg config
[02:55]<kzfymzzg>always do that
[02:55]<kzfymzzg>AndrewMac, okay then its easy to install
[02:56]<kzfymzzg>make sure u turn up the volume and unmute it
[02:56]<lwy>Kalidarn: i learned that today :-)
[02:56]<trrrdrr>ok
[02:56]<trrrdrr>ummm
[02:56]<kzfymzzg>cos it seems like it doesnt work
[02:56]<kzfymzzg>but its actually muted
[02:56]<kzfymzzg>i found that on 2 of my systems
[02:56]<trrrdrr>i did emerge kde-meta and it keeps giving me the same error looping
[02:56]<trrrdrr>it seems like it's in a forever loop
[02:56]<trrrdrr>lol
[02:56]<trrrdrr>should i reboot the pc?
[02:57]<rgmznwmra>Kalidarn: no volume control or devices found
[02:57]<kzfymzzg>AndrewMac, http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_ALSA
[02:57]<trrrdrr>lol
[02:57]<trrrdrr>umm
[02:57]<trrrdrr>can someone give a hand?
[02:57]<kzfymzzg>btw AndrewMac if u build ur drivers into the kernel only do it if u have one sound card
[02:57]<lwy>The funny thing is, that i only changed resolutions (as far as i know)
[02:57]<kzfymzzg>i hear u should use modules if u have more than one soundcard
[02:58]<kzfymzzg>AndrewMac, also try http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_ALSA_Complete_(includes_dmix)
[02:58]<zunnpnpzd>skge: you also need to restart firefox, tell me how it works out
[02:58]<kzfymzzg>one thing i like about gentoo's wiki is it's up to date pretty much and has a lot of good easy to understand faqs unlike other 'easier' distros, which then turn out to be harder when things don't work
[02:59]<rgmznwmra>Kalidarn: if i used genkernel, can i still do it?
[02:59]<kzfymzzg>dunno
[02:59]<kzfymzzg>i dont genkernel
[02:59]<fyfj>hmmm, I'm getting the following error upgrading my system: !!! Packages for the following atoms are either all masked or don't exist: app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-glibc dev-php/php sys-apps/fileutils dev-php/mod_php dev-perl/Attribute-Handlers
[02:59]<trrrdrr>can anyone help me?
[02:59]<trrrdrr>plz?
[02:59]<fyfj>can anyone point me to how to resolve?
[02:59]<zz2zggnz>if I upgrade my kernel do I have to remerge xorg?
[02:59]<japh>lilo: did you emerge --sync?
[02:59]<kzfymzzg>=) cos i have to do have to put in my marvell network drivers, framebuffer console support etc
[02:59]<trrrdrr>resolve dns you mean?
[02:59]<uscyn>kcbanner no
[02:59]<trrrdrr>wait
[02:59]<fyfj>JAPH: yes
[02:59]<xfyg2gzdrg>kcbanner, No.
[03:00]<zz2zggnz>uskie, ok
[03:00]<zz2zggnz>hlieberman, ok
[03:00]<trrrdrr>lilo: resolve dns you mean?
[03:00]<fyfj>Tenemag: resolve the problem
[03:00]<zz2zggnz>Anyone know why it cant find module "keyboard" then
[03:00]<japh>lilo: ok, then I don't know =(
[03:00]<xfyg2gzdrg>kcbanner, Not unless you did something reaaaly weird. Or upgraded like... 9 versions, changed drivers, and some other weirdness.
[03:00]<trrrdrr>lilo: oh, what is the problem?
[03:00]<xfyg2gzdrg>kcbanner, Check your xorg.conf. Probably something funky there.
[03:00]<fyfj>Tenemag: it appears to be telling me some of my packages have disappeared, and I'm not sure what replaces them
[03:00]<kzfymzzg>i used to make xorgs manually with xorg-config until i realised yesterday i could use Xorg -configure lol
[03:00]<zz2zggnz>hlieberman, Failed to load module "kbd"
[03:00]<zz2zggnz>hlieberman, i did a fresh xorgconfig
[03:01]<xfyg2gzdrg>kcbanner, Oh. Oh. Weird... never seen /that/ before.
[03:01]<trrrdrr>hmm
[03:01]<fyfj>Tenemag: !!! Packages for the following atoms are either all masked or don't exist: app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-glibc dev-php/php sys-apps/fileutils dev-php/mod_php dev-perl/Attribute-Handlers
[03:01]<fyfj>that thing
[03:01]<trrrdrr>lilo: try to emerge --sync
[03:01]<zz2zggnz>hlieberman, then i did aticonfig
[03:01]<fyfj>Tenemag: that's how I got here :) but okay :)
[03:01]<trrrdrr>interesting
[03:01]<pmzmnzj>anyone know where the message in /var/log/messages coming from?
[03:01]<trrrdrr>interesting
[03:01]<kzfymzzg>mm my xorg file doesnt have a vsync and a hsync
[03:01]<kzfymzzg>interesting
[03:01]<trrrdrr>lol
[03:01]<kzfymzzg>i thought they had to have those
[03:01]<kzfymzzg>yet it works
[03:02]<xfyg2gzdrg>herd@g.c is valid email, right?
[03:02]<xfyg2gzdrg>Pyr0^, .....
[03:02]<xfyg2gzdrg>Pyr0^, *@g.c stands for ____@gentoo.org
[03:03]<pmzmnzj>Pyr0^ : hmm so this message is actually coming from the kernel for example "ndiswrapper: driver tnet1130 (D-Link,04/06/2004,6.0.1.1) loaded
[03:03]<pmzmnzj>PCI: Enabling device 0000:02:00.0 (0000 -> 0002)
[03:03]<pmzmnzj>ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:02:00.0[A] -> Link [LNK1] -> GSI 10 (level, low) -> IRQ 10
[03:03]<pmzmnzj>PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:02:00.0 to 64
[03:03]<pmzmnzj>ndiswrapper: using irq 10
[03:03]<xfyg2gzdrg>Or g.o ... same deal.
[03:03]<fuzyjusrnjzrn>where does bootstap.sh keep its resume file
[03:03]<pmzmnzj>oops
[03:04]<japh>guzzlefry: what programming langs do you know?
[03:04]<kzfymzzg>i will be happy when wireless networking is like a GSM network, but uber faster and free (or costs crap all) so i can update my repository anywhere any time ;P
[03:04]<zunnpnpzd>C/C++ (kind of), PHP
[03:04]<caayza>JAPH: probably #code-hell would be a better place for that conversation
[03:04]<japh>guzzlefry: i think there's a C API for plugins
[03:05]<zunnpnpzd>ok, thanks, I'll check it out
