[13:23]<grgj2rgsxnn>fluxdude: lshw. look at the Host Bridge section.
[13:23]<zunffn>fluxdude: you can try lspci
[13:24]<grgj2rgsxnn>fluxdude: lspci | grep 'Host bridge'
[13:25]<pfuwmumn>nanobanshee: there is no lshw command but lspci gives the bridges, how can I tell from this, do I have to look up what motherboards have this chipset?
[13:25]<zunffn>fluxdude: lspci | grep 'Host bridge' | sed ss.*bridge:ss
[13:26]<grgj2rgsxnn>fluxdude: hmmm. how about the Subsystem lines from lscpi -vv?
[13:26]<lsd`>fluxdude: why exactly are you after the mobo name, the chipset type is more useful
[13:27]<fgjgrrdgf>hi, is there any Japanese here ? I got some input method questions.
[13:28]<svjyfn>lucas123: Tell me, when anybody answers your question, ok? :-)
[13:29]<fwnfwnfwn>is it possible to make 'emerge --quiet' really quiet?
[13:29]<lsd`>qweqweqwe: turn the monitor off
[13:29]<grgj2rgsxnn>qweqweqwe: emerge blah 2>&1 > /dev/null
[13:30]<fwnfwnfwn>LSD`: i'm on a lappy over a modem
[13:30]<grgj2rgsxnn>qweqweqwe: or emerge blah > /dev/null 2>&1
[13:30]<fwnfwnfwn>nanobanshee: thanks
[13:31]<grgj2rgsxnn>qweqweqwe: something like what I wrote. man bash to get it right.
[13:31]<yxrm>qweqweqwe: or short: emerge bla &>/dev/null :)
[13:31]<fwnfwnfwn>nanobanshee: can i emerge more than one thing at a time?
[13:31]<lsd`>qweqweqwe: in that case, screen it out (screen being the single best thing to come out of GNU)
[13:32]<grgj2rgsxnn>qweqweqwe: emerge thing1 thing2
[13:33]<fwnfwnfwn>oh but i can't do it in parallel?
[13:33]<grgj2rgsxnn>qweqweqwe: nope.
[13:38]<fwnfwnfwn>hi wonder :-)
[13:39]<fwnfwnfwn>if i want to install x with gnome, can i just emerge gnome and get the lot that way? (sorry for the n00b questions)
[13:39]<cnycje>it should work, yes
[13:40]<furrswq1>qweqweqwe, yes it should work alltough it's usually a good idea to get each component working step by step.. so make sure X work first, then try to get gnome working.
[13:40]<furrswq1>but as far as compiling and installing, it should work like that.
[13:41]<fwnfwnfwn>thanks
[13:44]<azcd>hi all , can anyone help me resizing reiserfs...my root partition :/ I was drunk when I made my partitions but I interered 3G instead of 30G
[13:45]<cnycje>héhé
[13:45]<cnycje>use parted
[13:45]<azcd>*entered
[13:46]<cnycje>mmh
[13:46]<ma-pu>hey, anyone know what causes the "recaching service dependancies mtimes differ" warning on startup/shutdown?
[13:46]<cnycje>you need 30 G dor a root partition oO ?
[13:46]<ggguddggg>How can I check to see if two packages in portage are not mutualy exclusive?
[13:46]<cnycje>for*
[13:46]<cnycje>that's a lot
[13:46]<grgj2rgsxnn>dj-fu: set your clock.
[13:46]<azcd>keikoz, why not ? :)
[13:46]<ma-pu>it is set ;p
[13:46]<cnycje>ah sorry
[13:46]<azcd>its my root... :)
[13:46]<cnycje>was confusing root and /boot
[13:46]<azcd>lol :D
[13:46]<azcd>30G for /boot :D
[13:46]<grgj2rgsxnn>arrummzen: try emerging them in series and see if they block. or look at the ebuilds to see if they block.
[13:47]<azcd>yes i Have 400TB left for my /root then.... :D
[13:47]<ma-pu>I have ntpd and stuff too, nanobanshee - I don't see the warning all the time, just occasionally
[13:47]<cnycje>just resize the different partitions with parted then
[13:47]<azcd>rofl
[13:47]<azcd>k
[13:47]<azcd>compiling...
[13:47]<cnycje>you start reducing other partitions to have space, and after that you make the root greater
[13:48]<ggguddggg>Would 'emerge nvidia-glx nvidia-kernel atidrivers' work?
[13:48]<ma-pu>lol?
[13:48]<ma-pu>you have ati and nvidia?
[13:48]<ggguddggg>dj-fu: yea.
[13:48]<ma-pu>on the same system, at once?
[13:48]<ggguddggg>dj-fu: yea
[13:49]<ma-pu>well, in that case no, it wouldn't work. (it's ati-drivers, not atidrivers)
[13:49]<rycyn>does anyone know a program to make your own puzzles
[13:49]<ggguddggg>Why does everyone think that is so strange?
[13:49]<ma-pu>how are you running them together?
[13:49]<ma-pu>are they both pcie or something
[13:49]<fax>hey
[13:50]<ggguddggg>dj-fu: PCI-X and AGP.
[13:50]<azcd>rofl arrummzen
[13:50]<ma-pu>;o
[13:50]<ma-pu>I didn't think they made pci-x graphics cards
[13:50]<azcd>ati has...
[13:51]<fax>gentoo suddenly wants to install 5 new packages, including apache and something called apr and gentoo-webroot-default
[13:51]<fax>can somebody tell me why?
[13:51]<ggguddggg>PCI-X isn't the same as PCI-E, unfortunatly =)
[13:51]<ma-pu>mm, I know, I just had no idea
[13:51]<ma-pu>I thought PCI-X was like a server only technology, which never really made it to desktops
[13:51]<fax>what do I suddenly need apache for on a workstation?
[13:52]<ma-pu>Ich: check your use flags, and what you are trying to emerge
[13:52]<ma-pu>i.e; emerge -av whatever
[13:52]<ma-pu>you could use apache on a workstation along with Eclipse to do on-the-fly PHP stuff, I guess
[13:52]<fax>world :P
[13:52]<ggguddggg>I have tried the binanry installers from ATI and nvidia, if I install the nvidia driver the nvidia card will work, but not the ati card. When I install the ati driver, the ati card will work but the nvidia card will stop working, so I install the nvidia driver and the ati card stops working...
[13:52]<ggguddggg>it is teh suck...
[13:53]<ma-pu>arrummzen, probably because of the eselect opengl thing, it won't let each card use the seperate libgl
[13:53]<ggguddggg>I think it has something to do with them overwritting each others openGL librarys...
[13:53]<ma-pu>they aren't overwriting, just one is selected and one is not
[13:53]<ma-pu>and that's wha tyou get for trying to run competitors cards in the same system
[13:54]<ggguddggg>dj-fu: I don't have enough money to just go out and buy new cards...
[13:54]<ma-pu>well, use just one then
[13:54]<lzlvjlbzzyg>has anyone seen gxine break with fullscreen when lirc is in the use flags?
[13:54]<ggguddggg>dj-fu: If I run two copys of Xorg with two xorg.conf files can I get it to work?
[13:54]<lzlvjlbzzyg>i get an error in my xsession-errors, it bitches about lircd then bombs with BadMatch
[13:54]<azcd>arrummzen, sell your ati card and keep your nvidia
[13:54]<ggguddggg>Arky: =(
[13:55]<azcd>with the money
[13:55]<azcd>buy drugs.
[13:55]<lzlvjlbzzyg>arrummzen: i just got an nvidia for 33 quid that works fine
[13:55]<lzlvjlbzzyg>linux-compatible nvidias are cheaper than dirt atm
[13:55]<lzlvjlbzzyg>and they perform real well :)
[13:55]<dj9cxzysv>I got a radeon 9600 and I'm planning on moving over to nvidia
