[15:18]<zzzuzf_wjzc>TFKyle: so if I pute ~x86 into my use flags in /etc/make.conf can I use rc2?
[15:18]<tfkdfn>nagual_work: no, USE != keywords
[15:18]<lsd`>nagual_work: no, if you want to run a complete ~arch system you'd put it in ACCEPT_KEYWORDS but since you just want the one ~arch package, you make an entry in /etc/portage/package.keywords
[15:18]<2y2s>TFKyle: i have already emerged that too, should i re-emerge?
[15:18]<tfkdfn>nagual_work: if you want to use ~x86 globally add ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" to your make.conf, but I don't think you'll want to do that just for portage
[15:19]<lsd`>I win (I think) :P
[15:19]<zzzuzf_wjzc>so i would type USE !=~x86 emerge portage?
[15:19]<tfkdfn>bibs: what verson?
[15:19]<zgvzzus>nagual_work: no ;)
[15:19]<zgvzzus>nagual_work: USE and KEYWORDS are two different things
[15:19]<2y2s>TFKyle: 2.14.0
[15:19]<zgvzzus>17
[15:19]<zgvzzus>bah
[15:20]<tfkdfn>bibs: it should be there, pastebin the output of equery f gnome-python-desktop if you will
[15:21]<2y2s>TFKyle: how can i do that?
[15:21]<dj9cxzysv>why is it so slow transferring files from windows to linux ?
[15:22]<zz2yvnz_mnv>that's an extremely vague question DJ4Christ
[15:22]<dj9cxzysv>lucky if I can pull in 5mb/s
[15:22]<zz2yvnz_mnv>please be more specific about the transfer
[15:22]<tfkdfn>bibs: run equery f gnome-python-desktop in a console, open up http://rafb.net/paste/ in a browser and copy and paste :)
[15:22]<ywcsn>is possible to convert NTFS to ext3 with data loseless?
[15:22]<afnw>no
[15:22]<zz2yvnz_mnv>iwkse: not directly
[15:23]<gyajvn>iwkse: using a temp location
[15:23]<ywcsn>i see...
[15:23]<dj9cxzysv>arbiter_dev, I'm transferring files across my network
[15:23]<dj9cxzysv>using a router
[15:23]<zz2yvnz_mnv>DJ4Christ: samba, SSH, rsync or something else?
[15:23]<dj9cxzysv>umm not sure
[15:23]<tfkdfn>iwkse: I don't think you can convert it, but if you have double the space of the data thats on your NTFS drive, you could create an ext3 partition, copy all files over and then kill the ntfs partition (that probably won't keep the NT ACL's for the file though)
[15:23]<dj9cxzysv>my windows pc is in remote places
[15:24]<2y2s>TFKyle: http://rafb.net/paste/results/U0wbE852.html
[15:24]<tfkdfn>s/file/files/
[15:24]<dj9cxzysv>I'm thinking samba
[15:24]<zz2yvnz_mnv>if it's not a network bottleneck, it's an I/O bottleneck on one of the computers
[15:24]<dj9cxzysv>ok thanx arbiter_dev
[15:25]<tfkdfn>bibs: strange, what does python -c "import sys;print sys.path" give you?
[15:25]<dj9cxzysv>brb
[15:25]<zz2yvnz_mnv>sure thing
[15:27]<2y2s>TFKyle: ['', '/usr/lib/portage/pym', '/usr/lib/python24.zip', '/usr/lib/python2.4', '/usr/lib/python2.4/plat-linux2', '/usr/lib/pytho
[15:27]<2y2s>TFKyle: n2.4/lib-tk', '/usr/lib/python2.4/lib-dynload', '/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages', '/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/Numeric
[15:27]<2y2s>TFKyle: ', '/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/dbus', '/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/gtk-2.0']
[15:31]<tfkdfn>bibs: hrm, that is odd. /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/gtk-2.0/gnomeapplet.so still exists and is readable by your user, right? (you can use ls -l to check)
[15:31]<vxnel_eyvy>is there any option for amd64 users to use flash? except for going with the crippled 32bit firefox approach?
[15:32]<zzzuzf_wjzc>TFKyle: thx for the help. Portage is now updated and I can emerge xorg-x11. I think it will take a while.
[15:34]<wotah>is there a way to know what other packages will get pulled in when a package is emerged - I screwed up an emerge, and i need to pack out everything that was part of it (deps and all) and start over - id rather avoid reformatting the machine if i can but that looks like the next option
[15:34]<2y2s>TFKyle: no, gnomeapplet.so doesn't exist
[15:35]<tfkdfn>bibs: I guess remerge it then, something you've done since merging gnome-python-desktop must've rm'd it (or portage did something crazy, dunno)
[15:35]<2y2s>TFKyle: ok, thx for ur help
[15:36]<zryfc>how can i emerge firefox 1.5.0.3 on gentoo? using emerge www-client/mozilla-firefox uses version 1.0.8
[15:37]<dzza_zfna>railk: echo "www-client/mozilla-firefox" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords && emerge mozilla-firefox
[15:40]<zryfc>mark_alec: emerge says "One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request: - dev-libs/nss-3.11 (masked by: ~x86 keyword) - dev-libs/nss-3.11-r1 (masked by: ~x86 keyword)"
[15:40]<dzza_zfna>railk: echo "~dev-libs/nss-3.11" >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
[15:40]<xjffjwsjuf>W8TAH, u could look @ end of file /var/log/emerge.log to see what emerge foo installed
[15:41]<wotah>hollowsoul, ok -- cool
[15:41]<zryfc>mark_alec: thanks
[15:42]<fzzvcfjgn>oops
[15:48]<yzvzzzyz_>hey guys
[15:48]<ma2gggyg>question, how do I change my console font? I want the font used by the live CD
[15:48]<yzvzzzyz>does anyone know of a repartitioning software for linux that doesnt destroy a partition when you resize it?
[15:48]<rgrppr2nvr>hi, i have a error in a X inicilization of livecd 2006.0, "no screens found" basically
[15:49]<rgrppr2nvr>i have a laptop dell latitude d505 whith intel card video what is?
[15:49]<rxyrrrj>Intangir: you can bzip your whole drive... back it up someplace... repartition after booting with a livecd.... and then unbzip /untar your OS back on.
[15:50]<yzvzzzyz>Chicago: lets call that plan B :)
[15:50]<zzzuzf_wjzc>analfabeta: do you have a service tag for the laptop?
[15:52]<rgrppr2nvr>nagual_work: yes
[15:53]<zzzuzf_wjzc>analfabeta: what is it?
[15:54]<l1vxulv>my sound card to load failed after i emerge world i follow the manual but still nothing
[15:54]<lsd`>p3thupv: did you remember to include it in your kernel?
[15:54]<l1vxulv>i'll check it
[15:55]<rgrppr2nvr>nagual_work: the service tag number?
[15:55]<pugcdhrv>If I emerge a bunch of packages using the --oneshot option and some of them are in my world file, they won't be removed from the world file will they?
[15:55]<zzzuzf_wjzc>analfabeta: yes
[15:55]<rgrppr2nvr>why? are you from a dell tecnic?
[15:56]<zzzuzf_wjzc>analfabeta: I can look up what video card is in that machine with the service tag number.
[15:56]<l1vxulv>LSD`: i have include it
[15:57]<dyaggyw>are these the right CFlags for my Centrino Duo T2500 -> http://gentoo-wiki.com/Safe_Cflags#Intel_Core_Duo_.28Yonah.29
[15:58]<dyaggyw>is that a Yonah?
[15:58]<rgrppr2nvr>nagual_work: is d4w4771
[15:58]<dyaggyw>are these the right CFlags for my Centrino Duo T2500 -> http://gentoo-wiki.com/Safe_Cflags#Intel_Core_Duo_.28Yonah.29
[15:59]<dyaggyw>oops sorry for the dub
[15:59]<l1vxulv>LSD`: grep SOUND .config and grep SND .confg ok
[16:00]<lsd`>p3thupv: but did you include all the right drivers for your setup?
[16:00]<dyaggyw>aby?
[16:00]<dyaggyw>any?
[16:00]<lsd`>mijenix: there's nothing particularly funky in that list, save for -msse3 (which, if supported, would be implied by the -march anyway) and you can confirm that with cat /proc/cpuinfo
[16:00]<zzzuzf_wjzc>analfabeta: It is and Intel Extreme Graphics 855 GM, or and Intel Graphics 830M
[16:01]<dyaggyw>LSD`: ok thx
[16:01]<l1vxulv>LSD`: I use creative live so have install emu10k1
[16:01]<dyaggyw>LSD`: and I know that CPU supports SSE3
[16:01]<fwnfwnfwn>if i change compile options significantly can i use emerge to recompile everything?
[16:01]<rgrppr2nvr>nagual_work: yes!
[16:02]<lsd`>qweqweqwe: emerge -e world
[16:02]<fwnfwnfwn>neat though so :-)
[16:02]<zzzuzf_wjzc>analfabeta: does that help you out?
[16:03]<rgrppr2nvr>nagual_work: well, now i have this error:
[16:03]<rgrppr2nvr>nagual_work: (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration.
[16:03]<zzzuzf_wjzc>analfabeta: do you have the drivers for your video compiled into the kernel?
[16:04]<l1vxulv>LSD`: i have no sys-apps/pciutils and sys-apps/usbutils that the prob
[16:04]<rgrppr2nvr>nagual_work: well, i'm run a livecd
