[00:32]<gfvgfygm>Pyr0^: yes
[00:32]<kzzvzrys>pixolex: why do you need to run hdparm at startup?
[00:32]<rdfcrd>Hi. I have been following the directions here: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/qmail-howto.xml and have installed qmailadmin. I can login to the control panel as the postmaster but when I attempt to add a new email account, it fails with a "Email Account cilkay@ cilkay could not be added" I don't see anything useful in the Apache logs. Any idea why this is happening?
[00:32]<fywjfnw>i don't know :(
[00:32]<rxyrrrj>Where should I mount /dev/hdc and /dev/hdd which are my two dvd drives...? I want to know what I should have in my fstab.
[00:32]<anpp_>rev667, im looking, didnt forget about you
[00:33]<fywjfnw>and xdm?
[00:33]<kzzvzrys>pixolex: flash news, you don't :D
[00:33]<syddnee>NeddySeagoon: will reboot in a bit. got a couple of things im sorting out first.
[00:33]<bfdrv>Stupid question, say I want to copy a lot of things over using cp.... is there any way to copy multiple items without having to run a separate command?
[00:33]<rdfcrd>Chicago: typical place to mount is somewhere under /mnt
[00:33]<vzyppym_hugvnz>Blyat: cp * /somewhere/else/
[00:33]<gfvgfygm>Pyr0^: any more ideas?
[00:33]<bfdrv>right but * would imply everything... I don't want to copy EVERYTHING, just selected things.
[00:33]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>simmerz, I'will probabley be away in 10 min or less - back sometime tomorrow. Good luck
[00:33]<kzzvzrys>Chicago: they can be /mnt/cd and /mnt/dvd, as long as they exist
[00:34]<syddnee>thanks
[00:34]<rjpmpysx>Blyat: depending on what?
[00:34]<rdfcrd>Blyat: cp -a ,/* That will NOT copy files with leading dots.
[00:34]<syddnee>NeddySeagoon: anything you can suggest if that doesn't work?
[00:34]<anpp_>rev667, pm
[00:34]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>simmerz, not that I can think of right now
[00:34]<syddnee>ok
[00:34]<znv666>k jeff
[00:34]<rxyrrrj>cilkay: that's what I have had... I had /mnt/dvdrom and /mntdvdrw..... in my device directory I also have simlinks /dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdd /dev/cdrom1 -> /dev/hdc
[00:35]<syddnee>NeddySeagoon: /etc/localtime wasn't a symlink. file header starts with TZif2
[00:35]<rxyrrrj>cilkay: I also have symlinks for /dev/dvd -> hdd and /dev/dvd1 -> hdc
[00:35]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>simmerz, do you dual boot with Windows ?
[00:35]<syddnee>NeddySeagoon: no
[00:36]<rdfcrd>Anyone have qmailadmin working working as per http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/qmail-howto.xml? If so, did you have to do anything different than those directions to be able to add a new email account from the web control panel?
[00:37]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>simmerz, it should be a link into /usr/share/zoneinfo/ somewhere, so it gets updated by the timezone package
[00:37]<anpp_>rev667, join #raz. i forgot you cant pm on freenode
[00:37]<rxyrrrj>I'm burning a DVD and my FIFO buffer for K3B is staying really low.... and the Device buffer doesn't how any information.
[00:37]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>simmerz, and your BIOS should be set to UTC
[00:37]<rxyrrrj>Anybody know howto get Device buffer info from a Plextor DVDRW?
[00:37]<fywjfnw>i want gdm...and i choose gnome(GRP) xorg-x11(GRP) and the hand books says i have to choose XDM in the startup services...but in other settings existes the option to choose GDM!!! I'm confused?
[00:38]<rxyrrrj>This Plextor DVDRW is only burning a disc at about 6x and it should be able to burn a DVD at 16x.
[00:38]<rdfcrd>jeff_: rev667 .. you can only pm if your nick is registered
[00:38]<syddnee>NeddySeagoon: it is.
[00:38]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>pixolex, xdm can start and of the display managers you choose
[00:38]<fywjfnw>and=one?
[00:39]<fywjfnw>ok ok :)
[00:39]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>simmerz, in the uk, you would use /etc/localtime -> /usr/share/zoneinfo/GB
[00:39]<afjakwynn>hmm, when i try to emerge mozilla-thunderbird, it gets a compile error
[00:40]<syddnee>NeddySeagoon: you think that would be enough to kill the boot process?
[00:40]<kzzvzrys>later
[00:40]<fywjfnw>what's the default console font of gentoo?
[00:41]<fywjfnw>i have to choose one in the installation option?
[00:41]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>I don't know what file you had at /etc/localtime, but probably not. I would expect it to use BIOS time directly and not to use any dailight savings corrections
[00:41]<dj9cxzysv>its the first default one in the list pixolex
[00:41]<mzrrjg2dvn>ok I have a bunch of gst-plugins 0.8.11 and 0.10.7...why doesnt depclean or anything see that 0.8.11 arent needed anymore
[00:41]<afjakwynn>http://www.nomorepasting.com/paste.php?pasteID=62823 this is the error it gets when i emerge mozilla-thunderbird
[00:41]<syddnee>hmmm
[00:41]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>simmerz, anyway, it wasn't right
[00:42]<syddnee>NeddySeagoon: true
[00:43]<mgyvzzyjg>How do I change apache2 from preforking to another method such as threading under Gentoo?
[00:44]<fywjfnw>when i'm adding a user in the installation do i have to choose all fill all the empty spaces? homedir UserID Shell??? or if it's empty they are defaults?
[00:44]<vzyppym_hugvnz>deitarion: change the mpm use flags
[00:44]<v1vv0z>how long till xorg 7.1 goes into portage
[00:44]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>t35t0r, when its ready
[00:44]<v1vv0z>NeddySeagoon, the 7.1 final
[00:45]<v1vv0z>NeddySeagoon, i heard it was released , i'm using the rc2 now
[00:45]<dj9cxzysv>pixolex, fill the first 3 in
[00:45]<mgyvzzyjg>thanks. I seem to have found a bug in preforking and I want to see if another MPM fixes the problem. (plus I'd like a cleaner ps listing)
[00:45]<ggmmdsgrrjjg>t35t0r, Is there an ebuild yet ?
[00:45]<fywjfnw>i dont' know the groups i want :(
[00:46]<v1vv0z>NeddySeagoon, that's what i was talking about ..is there an ebuild for 7.1 final ?
[00:46]<fywjfnw>DJ4Christi dont' know the groups i want :(
[00:46]<v1vv0z>NeddySeagoon, there isn't in portage
[00:46]<fywjfnw>DJ4Christ dont' know the groups i want :(
[00:46]<dj9cxzysv>users,wheel,audio
[00:47]<fywjfnw>DJ4Christ where can i save my configuration?
[00:47]<dj9cxzysv>hmm not sure as I never saved mine
[00:48]<hyrrryjg>a little help here with kernel header files?
[00:48]<dj9cxzysv>pixolex, did you select the bin for openoffice ?
[00:48]<hyrrryjg>it looks as though version.h is missing from 2.6.16-gentoo-r7
[00:49]<cdjya>bonsoir ;)
[00:49]<fywjfnw>DJ4Christ no just GRP things
[00:49]<fywjfnw>DJ4Christ no just GRP things
[00:49]<sdrrdq>hello folks, i need to remove about 120 ssh keys from known_hosts file, however i am not too good with sed/awk, would appreciate some suggestions, i tried something like this, for in i `seq 10 60`; do cat known_hosts.backup | grep -v host$i > tmpfile; mv tmpfile known_hosts.backup; done but known_hosts.backup is empty at the end. not sure what's going wrong
[00:49]<anpp_>whats a good player for mwvs?
[00:50]<vzyppym_hugvnz>jeff_: vlc handles many of them nicely
[00:50]<anpp_>thanks
[00:50]<dj9cxzysv>pixolex, if you pick the bin for openoffice you will cut the time down
[00:50]<fywjfnw>DJ4Christ i just choose the / mount point just for one partion no boot, there are any problem?
[00:51]<dj9cxzysv>I selected the partition and let gentoo pick the partitions itself
[00:51]<mzzcfnss>afternoon, does anyone know a livecd compiled with reiser4 support and without SMP support?
[00:52]<dj9cxzysv>pixolex, what about swap ?
[00:52]<fywjfnw>DJ4Christ just the / mount point, nothing else?
[00:52]<mzzcfnss>whenever I run "chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash" I get an input/output error
[00:53]<lfjlldnzzs>hi
[00:53]<lfjlldnzzs>is there a gentoo version for the macintels ?
[00:53]<fywjfnw>i have a swap partition in the disk, i want to share it!
[00:53]<dj9cxzysv>pixolex, don't think you can do that
[00:54]<hyrrryjg>it looks as though version.h is missing from 2.6.16-gentoo-r7
[00:54]<fywjfnw>why?
[00:54]<hyrrryjg>anyone else notice that?
[00:54]<fywjfnw>it's swap!
[00:54]<mzzcfnss>I seem to recall that this error is caused when you try to chroot to a distro that has been compiled with the opposite SMP option
[00:54]<vgfrgmyf>Hmm, where is the modules autoload file located now in 2006.0?
