[18:56]<srrrfrf>where do I create it, i mean?
[18:56]<caayza>mzbot: wiki sagalal 3rd party ebuilds
[18:56]<de2jv>sagalal: http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Installing_3rd_Party_Ebuilds
[18:56]<sydavwjzc>LinuxKore: bittorrent, the very best there is.
[18:56]<dja|xjdn>LinuxKore: www.gentoo-portage.com
[18:56]<mcy>LinuxKore, loads..
[18:56]<sydavwjzc>LinuxKore: there are hundreds of others though
[18:56]<srrrfrf>mzbot, muchisimas gracias!!
[18:56]<mcy>LinuxKore, ls /usr/portage/net-p2p/ :P
[18:56]<caayza>you can't download a p2p -- that's like downloading the Internet! :-P
[18:57]<xdfan>wasnt that hard
[18:57]<srrrfrf>that's all folks
[18:57]<srrrfrf>thanks for the help! :)
[18:58]<srrrfrf>Cheerz
[18:58]<tfkdfn>sagalal: er
[18:58]<srrrfrf>\quit
[18:58]<lyguwkjzn>thanks
[18:58]<lyguwkjzn>i was just looking for a good one
[18:58]<affdgmggvd>Whoa, there's a console installer called installer-dialog... How well does it work?
[18:58]<tfkdfn>sagalal: looks like the ebuild/eclass doesn't look in /everything, http://xorg.freedesktop.org/releases/individual/proto/xextproto-7.0.2.tar.bz2
[18:58]<tfkdfn>ah, meh
[18:59]<caayza>AlliedEnvy: all the installers are not as good as your brain
[18:59]<caayza>(I know, scary, isn't it?)
[18:59]<affdgmggvd>kojiro: Well yeah, I knew that.
[18:59]<caayza>AlliedEnvy: really? pardon me, most people don't seem to know that.
[19:00]<wusxy>bonsaikitten: xushi, tar xcvpf ? :-) hmm, isn't x for extract ? o_O
[19:00]<affdgmggvd>kojiro: Heh.
[19:00]<mcy>for most people 'next, next, next' seems to be ''best''
[19:00]<tfkdfn>Mki: it is ;)
[19:00]<affdgmggvd>if easiest = best
[19:00]<gyvzrd_>mount: block device /dev/cdrom is write-protected, mounting read-only
[19:01]<gyvzrd_>I'm trying to mount my cdrom , but whenever i do mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom i get :
[19:01]<myeylejz>still having problems with my internet... :/ which file is where i set which ip i should have, the gateway, the dns, netmask and broadcast?
[19:01]<2jgsrycyvvgg>xushi, erm ... oops ;-) c,p and j are usually good options
[19:01]<gyvzrd_>mount: I could not determine the filesystem type, and none was specified
[19:01]<[s]>ok thanks again, and cya
[19:01]<mcy>nitram_, its a data cd?
[19:01]<2jgsrycyvvgg>nitram_, maybe you're missing iso9660 filesystem support?
[19:01]<gyvzrd_>Mki its a music cd
[19:02]<caayza>AlliedEnvy: that's why Portage is radical -- most software starts out easy, and gets harder the more you try to do with it. Gentoo stuff starts out a bit harder, but doesn't get much harder, and the more you get used to it, the easier it seems.
[19:02]<mcy>nitram_, then.. you cant mount it... just play it
[19:02]<gyvzrd_>Mki so if i tried it on a windows game cd ( for use with cedega ) it 'should' work ?
[19:02]<mcy>nitram_, cdda isnt a filesystem type, so its not possible to mount it
[19:02]<mcy>nitram_, yeh
[19:03]<affdgmggvd>kojiro: Aye, I agree. Besides, why would you use gentoo, if you're not wanting to get into the details of things?
[19:03]<gdvzo>Mizipzor, do you have any sort of firewall rules set up?
[19:03]<tfkdfn>AlliedEnvy: because gentoo is a good distro?
[19:03]<caayza>AlliedEnvy: because Freddy down the street told you you wouldn't be cool until you were running Gentoo. :-D
[19:04]<myeylejz>nytr8, i dont think so ... any way to check?
[19:04]<gyvzrd_>another question :) ; i just finalized my system now and have a nice gnome desktop and such , but its consuming well over 12 GIG , which is quite too big, can i delete some old temp files and if so which ones ?
[19:04]<caayza>nitram_: /var/tmp/portage/* ; if you have bandwidth /usr/portage/distfiles/*
[19:04]<gdvzo>Mizipzor, try iptables -L
[19:04]<tfkdfn>AlliedEnvy: I mean you can't expect everyone using gentoo to "get into" the details of everything, that would be impossible for anyone running a system thats more than a simple console machine
[19:04]<caayza>nitram_: as long as you aren't emerging anything atm
[19:05]<fggywrf>Greetings!
[19:05]<yzvzzzyz>how do i boot an iso off of a usb flash stick..
[19:05]<fggywrf>how painful/painless is upgrading shorewall from 3.0.4 to 3.0.6?
[19:05]<myeylejz>nytr8, ill reboot again then :P
[19:05]<gyvzrd_>kojiro i am emerging openoffice now , but i will try it after , thanks :)
[19:05]<gdvzo>or just do a iptables -F for now
[19:05]<gdvzo>itll clear all the rules
[19:05]<caayza>nitram_: oh -- don't trust the size of things while OpenOffice is emerging
[19:05]<caayza>nitram_: it takes like 3 gigs to emerge
[19:05]<gdvzo>also did you add the nameserver that bonsaikitten gave ?
[19:05]<gyvzrd_>kojiro ; and it takes quite a long time too
[19:05]<tfkdfn>(and hell, getting into all the details of the VT stuff and low-level kernel stuff can be hard if you don't have the mindset)
[19:05]<caayza>nitram_: yup yup
[19:06]<caayza>TFKyle: if you do have the mindset, it's just annoying -- which is another form of hard.
[19:06]<tfkdfn>true
[19:06]<caayza>er..
[19:06]<rmrgvn>hi, when i try to run stepmania in fullscreen mode at 640x480 on my lcd tv (1024x768) it basically draws a 640x480 image on a black screen.. how can i get it to actually change resolutions?
[19:07]<2frrarrn>kdcttg: read the channel join message, turn off that away message, then join #gentoo-ops when you've done both.
[19:07]<caayza>heh
[19:07]<_aws_>Intangir, you have to install grub or another bootloader into the flash stick, then install the rest of the stuff in the iso image (the .squashfs, kernels, etc. etc. as they are seen on the cd)
[19:08]<_aws_>s/install/copy over/
[19:08]<_aws_>Intangir, you might be better off trying to find a liveusb image
[19:09]<dzrrjs>Hi, i'm new to gentoo (2 day)
[19:09]<dzrrjs>can anyone help me in one problem with speedtoch-usb ebuild?
[19:09]<caayza>kdcttg: type /topic in here
[19:09]<zjznztt>Dragos, what problem?
[19:09]<yzvzzzyz>how do i install grub onto it?
[19:09]<yzvzzzyz>also how can i see the contents of the iso?
[19:09]<dzrrjs>roger55, i'm trying to install net-dialup/speedtouch-usb
[19:09]<dzrrjs>using emerge
[19:09]<_aws_>Intangir, you have to mount the iso.. i fyou're in windows that will be hard.
[19:09]<zjznztt>Intangir, maybe gentoo-wiki.com has some info on this topic
[19:09]<]jlggvrcr[>do you think 1gig ram and 2gig ram would make a big difference in performance?
[19:10]<dzrrjs>but it tells me that is marked and stop
[19:10]<zjznztt>Dragos, so far I don't see a problem :)
[19:10]<dzrrjs>how can i install speedtocuh-usb
[19:10]<zjznztt>Dragos, what is the exact error message?
[19:10]<dzrrjs>and skep that problem
[19:10]<dzrrjs>one sec
[19:10]<zryfc>can/how does gentoo deal with to eth connections?
[19:10]<zryfc>two*
[19:10]<zzzuzf_wjzc>I am trying to emerge -Dv xorg-x11 and I get this error
[19:10]<sydavwjzc>]opentaka[: performance of what?
[19:10]<svgpzgz>how do i add new users so that they get all the "dot" files in their home dir? .. ive tryed the option "-m" .. which should copy over files from the skeleton dir'. but tons are missing compared to the root-home. fx gnome, xmms and more. the new user only has bash_profile - history and so
[19:10]<2jgsrycyvvgg>railk, it can, but it won't give you twice the speed
