[19:38]<zjznztt>Mizipzor, does: dhcpcd eth0
[19:38]<zjznztt>Mizipzor, work?
[19:38]<ryaxg>Chars, oh... you should just read the networking chapter in the Handbook, then. if you choose to use wpa_supplicant, basically, you edit /etc/conf.d/net and /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf, then wpa_supplicant will associate when you start net.eth0.
[19:38]<swnnv_crvn>hello everybody
[19:38]<ryaxg>Chars, I don't know anything about using iwconfig to manage association, sorry
[19:38]<rwwnf>roger55: loadkeys worked.. ty
[19:38]<cxzzs>RichG, Will do, thanks man
[19:39]<zjznztt>axxel, that permission denied would worry me
[19:39]<myeylejz>roger55: i cant really tell... it doesnt give any output... and i still cant ping google.com or its ip... but i can ping local stuff
[19:39]<zjznztt>Mizipzor, ok attach the cable to the other card
[19:39]<zjznztt>Mizipzor, then run: dhcpcd eth1
[19:39]<rmzyrrg_>hey
[19:39]<rmzyrrg_>my scrollweel on my logitech mouse is not working, can someone help me
[19:40]<zjznztt>Chars, iwconfig eth0 mode managed essid youressid
[19:40]<zjznztt>Adriaan_, did you read the xorg config guide?
[19:40]<myeylejz>roger55: is the outcome of this effected by the contents of /etc/conf.d/net?
[19:40]<zjznztt>Mizipzor, no
[19:40]<zjznztt>Mizipzor, so did you do it yet?
[19:41]<rmzyrrg_>rogar55, yes
[19:41]<zjznztt>Adriaan_, so you already have a zaxismapping in /etc/X11/xorg.conf ?
[19:41]<rmzyrrg_>rogar55, no
[19:42]<mcy>Chars, just doing 'ifconfig eth0 up' might get you associated.. 'iwconfig eth0' will have the ap's mac if its associated
[19:42]<zjznztt>Adriaan_, hehe then you didn't read the guide til the end
[19:42]<zjznztt>? xorg config
[19:42]<annvns>http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/xorg-config.xml
[19:42]<myeylejz>roger55: seems to work... somehow... i can pick the ip to google... but not www.google.com
[19:43]<zjznztt>Mizipzor, who types www anyway? ;)
[19:43]<ryaxg>when I used Fedora Core, which was installed on a computer with a Sound Blaster, the audio output became distorted when it was played at medium to high volume. I presumed the cause was specific to to the driver for that card, but now I am experiencing the same problem with a different computer with an entirely different set of hardware. what's going on? :\
[19:43]<myeylejz>roger55: well :P
[19:43]<zjznztt>Mizipzor, now try adding: acpi=off to the end of your kernel line
[19:44]<myeylejz>roger55: wheres the kernel line?
[19:44]<zjznztt>Mizipzor, then reboot and try again with eth0 and eth1
[19:44]<zjznztt>Mizipzor, in grub.conf
[19:44]<2jgsrycyvvgg>RichG, if you have an amplifier connected then you'll have a too strong input signal, it's a "bug" with most soundcards
[19:44]<mcy>RichG, try muting inputs that you're not using?
[19:44]<2jgsrycyvvgg>RichG, my solution was to never get the master volume above 20% :-\
[19:44]<rmzyrrg_>rogar55, mm i cant find how to config it to work with my logitech mouse
[19:44]<myeylejz>roger55: but, at home this worked whitout trouble... internet was connected to eth0 and everything was working, how can my modem at home be so much different from the router here?
[19:44]<zjznztt>Adriaan_, at the very end
[19:45]<rmzyrrg_>rogar55, mouse works fine and the left and right click do, but scrolling and the extra buttons do not work
[19:45]<ryaxg>Mki, thanks, but I've already tried that... I've fiddled with the channels quite extensively!
[19:45]<zjznztt>Adriaan_, Code Listing 4.4: Changing the mouse settings in Xorg
[19:45]<zryfc>should i set up wireless stuff in /etc/conf.d/wireless or /etc/conf.d/net ?
[19:45]<myeylejz>roger55: before you suggested i used my isp's dns... but which one is that? how can i find it out? is there an easy way?
[19:45]<zjznztt>railk, both I think
[19:46]<mcy>railk, doesnt matter really
[19:46]<rmzyrrg_>rogar55, yes but is there not something specified for the logitech mouse?
[19:46]<cxzzs>roger, using iwconfig eth0 mode Managed essid myessid key mykey returns error: Operation not suported
[19:46]<zjznztt>Chars, managed not Managed
[19:46]<vnzanf>Chars: eth0 is generaly an ethernet interface... do you mean ath0 or wifi0?
[19:46]<zjznztt>Chars, and if your key there is your wep password it's" key s:yourpassword
[19:47]<xjffjwsjuf>Adriaan, whats logitech mouse u got?
[19:47]<cxzzs>tercel, on my computer, eth0 is associated with the wireless card
[19:47]<vnzanf>oh, ok cool
[19:47]<gxjvajd_>hello ! what tool can I use to make a copy of a svn repository ?
[19:47]<cxzzs>roger55, yep, my WEP key
[19:47]<ryaxg>bonsaikitten, that's what I've been doing, but if I use headphones then I can't use a decent volume. :( this computer also has Windows installed to it, and the audio output is fine when running it
[19:47]<mcy>Ghotcom_, svn.. :P
[19:47]<rcvygjs>Ghotcom_: svnadmin dump
[19:48]<zjznztt>Chars, so iwconfig eth0 mode managed essid myessid key s:mypassword
[19:48]<myeylejz>roger55: it works now... i took my isp's dns and added it to /etc/resolv.conf ... all works now thanks
[19:48]<myeylejz>:)
[19:48]<zjznztt>Mizipzor, great.
[19:48]<gxjvajd_>Mki: hm, how is called the ebuild ?
[19:48]<mcy>Ghotcom_, emerge svn
[19:49]<cxzzs>roger55, same error, Operation not supported
[19:49]<gxjvajd_>Mki: doesnt exist :|
[19:49]<zjznztt>Chars, what card is that? and what driver are you using?
[19:49]<rcvygjs>Ghotcom_: dev-util/subversion
[19:49]<mcy>Ghotcom_, oops, nvm, emerge subversion*
[19:49]<cxzzs>roger55, Intel Prowireless 2200BG
[19:50]<gxjvajd_>Mki: okay
[19:50]<cxzzs>roger55, I just did emerge ipw2200-firmware, I think it was updated to 2.3
[19:50]<irdevxjs>do I have to set a use flag for w32codecs to work with firefox?
[19:51]<fggywrf>Hmm... I seem to be having some FB problems...
[19:51]<fggywrf>when gentoo boots (on two separate computers), the initial cursor position is like 5 lines higher than the actual prompt... when the screen blanks, and then unblanks when I type, it's in the right spot...
[19:51]<fggywrf>... anyone have any ideas?
[19:51]<fggywrf>(using vesafb)
[19:51]<gxjvajd_>Mki: is there another way to retrieve such repository from the web ?
[19:52]<mcy>Ghotcom_, i guess you could try recursively wgetting it, not sure if it'd work though
[19:52]<gxjvajd_>Mki: i tried Download'em all Firefox extension loll
[19:52]<gxjvajd_>Mki: :)
[19:52]<mcy>Ghotcom_, ah.. same idea, so wget would probably fail too
[19:52]<ryaxg>IamEthos, what are you trying to make Firefox do?
[19:53]<gxjvajd_>RichG: no nothing _.._
[19:53]<zjznztt>Chars, I don't know, ask in #gentoo-laptop ?
[19:53]<dlrrrgj>IamEthos: equery uses mozilla-firefox will display firefox use flags
[19:55]<cxzzs>roger55, I'll give it a shot, thanx a lot man
[19:57]<jjvluv>hi guys, how do i say 'mplayer file if file's name does not contain 'commentary'
[19:57]<jjvluv>using whildcards
[19:58]<zjznztt>ootput, I don't understand.
[19:59]<jjvluv>roger55: it's a directory of video files. some are commentary clips (named with -commentary suffix). I'd like to skip these files when issuing mplayer *
[19:59]<zjznztt>ootput, they all have the same file extension?
[19:59]<jjvluv>yes
[20:00]<zryfc>thanks guys... got my wireless working at last!
[20:00]<gxjvajd_>Mki: done, now how do I tell svn to copy that directory ?
[20:01]<zjznztt>ootput, ls | grep -v commentary | xargs mplayer
[20:01]<mcy>Ghotcom_, svn copy url
[20:01]<gxjvajd_>Mki: thank you
[20:02]<zjznztt>ootput, does that work?
