[21:18]<frsvgjmnw>:)
[21:19]<mzcxzgmzz>fmadero: No, but It would need to be in /lib/modules/`uname -r` ... somewhere.
[21:19]<frsvgjmnw>^zeon^: the gentoo docs are pretty thorough with mirrors
[21:19]<v1vv0z>is there a rmd160 sum?
[21:19]<v1vv0z>i found a sha1sum
[21:19]<mzcxzgmzz>t35t0r: md5sum?
[21:19]<v1vv0z>he was asking about it
[21:20]<v1vv0z>echo "huh" | md5sum
[21:20]<v1vv0z>echo "huh" | sha1sum
[21:20]<fzgznzfvzz>t35t0r: I'm not trying to read the contents of file. I'm trying to echo the md5 output of, say a password.
[21:20]<fzgznzfvzz>got it
[21:20]<fzgznzfvzz>that worked
[21:21]<v1vv0z>lancealtar, or put the passsword in a file and md5sum file
[21:21]<mzcxzgmzz>t35t0r: It appears there is. google for it
[21:21]<v1vv0z>google can md5 a search query?
[21:21]<v1vv0z>hahah
[21:21]<pmzmnzj>DrChandra : its there but I see no generation by depmod
[21:21]<mzcxzgmzz>t35t0r: !google rmd160 sum
[21:22]<scdlxdz>hi all - does anyone know about creating persistent symlinks in the /dev/ directory?
[21:22]<v1vv0z>skyphyr, with udev ?
[21:22]<v1vv0z>skyphyr, google gentoo udev
[21:23]<scdlxdz>hi t35t0r - yeah - kindof - baselayout creates a symlink from /dev/MAKEDEV to ../sbin/MAKEDEV
[21:23]<mzcxzgmzz>fmadero: Somehow, the modules.alias info needs to match against that MODALIAS entry that udevmonitor displayed. That's what hooks up the module. Then a rule can be written which runs the rc script when it loads.
[21:23]<scdlxdz>I need to recreate that in an imaging script the same way I mknod for console and null to facilitation boot
[21:23]<pmzmnzj>DrChandra : I see, thanks
[21:23]<scdlxdz>however just adding the ln -s ../sbin/MAKEDEV /mnt/gentoo/dev/ doesn't persist after reboot
[21:24]<b-mygus>die ene hollander deed da toch bij de botsautos
[21:24]<b-mygus>hah
[21:24]<mzcxzgmzz>skyphyr: Why does /dev/need MAKEDEV in it?
[21:24]<caayza>B-Minus: English, please
[21:25]<scdlxdz>udev uses the to populate /dev
[21:25]<ys_guff>anybody knows how to make a dump of a hasp4 usb key, and emulate it please ?
[21:25]<ys_guff>anybody knows how to make a dump of a hasp4 usb key, and emulate it please ?
[21:25]<mcy>skyphyr, no.. udev doesnt use MAKEDEV
[21:25]<scdlxdz>when it's missing it can't populate /dev properly and boot - so there's no /dev/sda* to boot
[21:25]<scdlxdz>it doesn't?
[21:25]<scdlxdz>hmmm - it doesn't?
[21:25]<zrpqt7>I am on k8 (amd64) how to tell gcc to make binary as fast as possible? it do not have to be backward compatible with other CPUs
[21:25]<zrpqt7>I need gcc flags (not gentoo ;) but I though here I will find expers =)
[21:26]<scdlxdz>wonder what else changes then because it's a cloned machine and /dev is the only bit which isn't directly cloned
[21:26]<scdlxdz>and re-emerging baselayout fixes the issue
[21:26]<frsvgjmnw>skyphyr: you used rysnc?
[21:26]<scdlxdz>though I can't really re-emerge baselayout in the imaging script..
[21:26]<scdlxdz>no - it's a based off the stage4 scripts
[21:26]<scdlxdz>it's tars to an archive on a pxeboot server
[21:27]<scdlxdz>which has a custom linux that uses the macid to decide which image to put onto a given machine
[21:27]<mcy>skyphyr, there's a setting for dev tarball in /etc/conf.d/rc... i think its a bit messy though
[21:27]<frsvgjmn>skyphyr: ive only used stage3, sorry
[21:28]<scdlxdz>I'll see if that fixes the problem - thanks Mki
[21:28]<scdlxdz>not pretty, but if it does the trick I'll take it :-)
[21:28]<v1vv0z>generating keypair gpg takes a long time
[21:29]<mzcxzgmzz>raf256: http://gentoo-wiki.com/Safe_Cflags#Opteron.2FAthlon64_.28AMD.29
[21:30]<sarrnfy>Is cron still adviced to install or is there something better/newer?
[21:31]<agjgq07>avimf
[21:31]<rwwnf>what does the process khpsbpkt do or shall i ask this somewere else?
[21:31]<mzcxzgmzz>axxel: Dig into it. strace it, lsof it.
[21:32]<mcy>axxel, im guessing its some kde process.. :P
[21:32]<mzcxzgmzz>axxel: ethereal the net ports it has open.
[21:33]<mzcxzgmzz>axxel: slocate it and find out what else is in the same directory.
[21:35]<scdlxdz>hmmm tarball was unsuccessful
[21:35]<mzcxzgmzz>axxel: Use a gas powered metal saw to cut the seals off the hatchcovers and send your boarding party into the hold for a look-see.
[21:37]<gzgg_>hi all where is the .ebuild handbook ?
[21:37]<rwwnf>DrChandra: seems a little dangerous.. better suggestions? :P
[21:37]<gzgg_>i missed it :(
[21:37]<mcy>eren_, man 5 ebuild ?
[21:37]<rxrjsyvn>someone can give me a hand with 'find'?
[21:38]<gzgg_>Mki: i'm using another distro.
[21:38]<rxrjsyvn>i'm trying to delete all directories with a certain name
[21:38]<mcy>eren_, oh...
[21:38]<hrfad0g>eren_: you can look at http://devmanual.gentoo.org
[21:38]<rwwnf>DrChandra: is slocate -u khpsbpkt the right string?
[21:39]<mzlxy2ns>find . -name <name> -exec rm -rf {} \;
[21:39]<gzgg_>Halcy0n: ok thanks. it is good :)
[21:39]<rjpmpysx>...
[21:39]<rjpmpysx>don't run that
[21:39]<mzcxzgmzz>axxel: Hmm, check the ship's manifest? :) run nm and ldd against the executable to see what it contains, and wants to use at runtime, respectively.
[21:39]<rjpmpysx>At least add in -type d
[21:39]<mzlxy2ns>yeah
[21:40]<mzlxy2ns>find . -name <name> -type d -ok rm -rf {} \;
[21:40]<mzlxy2ns>for confirmation too
[21:40]<rwwnf>ship? nm? ldd? i'm too tired to look it up..
[21:41]<mzcxzgmzz>drphibes: find . -name NAME -type d -ok | xargs rm -rf
[21:42]<dzzyc_>USERLAND="GNU -Darwin" ... i thought darwin was the mac os X environment...
[21:42]<mzlxy2ns>million and three ways to do it
[21:42]<mzcxzgmzz>drphibes: yeah
[21:43]<ryaxg>Portage can be installed on Mac OS
[21:43]<mzcxzgmzz>drphibes: I try to avoid -exec, because it's sometimes slow.
[21:43]<ryaxg>...marik_ :)
[21:45]<gzgg_>hi all
[21:45]<gzgg_>what does "keepdir" command do ?
[21:45]<xdfan>keeps a dir ?
[21:45]<gzgg_>e.g keepdir /etc/xml ?
[21:45]<zgvzzus>eren_: it's for ebuilds to use
[21:45]<gzgg_>antarus: yes ebuilds
[21:46]<sarrnfy>is there anything easier than ntp for clock sincronization?
[21:46]<gzgg_>antarus: http://www.gentoo-portage.com/AJAX/Ebuild/5510/View
[21:46]<xdfan>SAngeli: ntp is very much easy
[21:46]<sarrnfy>I know but when I first install it I always have problems. Then all is solved.
[21:47]<zgvzzus>eren_: so what is your question? :)
[21:47]<ryaxg>openntpd is ridiculously easy to use
