[22:48]<tfkdfn>hawking: is it possible the project you're trying to build is using the old 1.0.x api vs. the new 1.1 api? (I'm not too sure if thats the problem, havn't looked at the documentation for libnet yet)
[22:48]<wq>Hi girls :) Does any one got a problem with /etc/profile ? mine isnt automaticly sourced at login :S
[22:49]<azjam>evening all. how do you know what kernel bzimage is saved once make && make modules_install is run? I am supposed tohave compiled an amd64 kernel but I dont see it in arch/x86_64
[22:49]<mzcxzgmzz>x2: Ladies!
[22:49]<wq>DrChandra, oops sorry :D
[22:50]<mcy>crocd, x86_64/boot/
[22:50]<xrwcyrr>TFKyle: yeah that might be .. I'm emerging the other libnet version ( the 1.0.2 one) now..
[22:51]<azjam>Mki, it isnt there, i selected amd cpu support but bzimage isnt in the x86_64/boot location
[22:51]<rwwnf>if i'm fetching (downloading) packagefiles for kde and depcleaning at the same time, is there any risk that it would affect the downloadint?
[22:51]<mcy>crocd, mm... what arch are you building it on?
[22:51]<azjam>Mki; supposedly 64 bit?
[22:51]<tfkdfn>hawking: you also might have to modify the projects build infrastructure to use libnet-1.0-config instead of libnet-config (if it doesn't check for it already)
[22:52]<mcy>crocd, uname -m
[22:52]<tfkdfn>(by build infrastructure I mean its configure.ac if its using autotools, SConsfile if its using scons, etc.
[22:52]<azjam>i686
[22:53]<tfkdfn>crocd: looks more like x86 than amd64 to me :)
[22:53]<xrwcyrr>TFKyle: http://rafb.net/paste/results/7rpRoe37.html <-- here is the part of the configure script that deals with libnet
[22:53]<mcy>crocd, ah, then you'll need to always do ARCH=x86_64 make (menuconfig, other stuff), and... not sure if your gcc can do 64bit code
[22:53]<azjam>bugger i used the GTK installer and selected amd64 when I built it!
[22:54]<tfkdfn>hawking: it only has a configure scriot, no configure.ac or .in?
[22:54]<tfkdfn>*script
[22:54]<mcy>crocd, that selects the cpu, not the architecture... it's optimized it for 32bit operation on K8's
[22:54]<mzcxzgmzz>crocd: Are you installing from a x86_64 livecd? YOu need that. The livcd has to match your intended arch.
[22:54]<azjam>ok, how can I update it?
[22:55]<xrwcyrr>Tfkyle: oh it has a configure.in
[22:55]<azjam>fsck it, i used the gentoo 2006 cd i got of linux mag and was under the impression it was 64 bit
[22:56]<igvzjvnzv>Hey guys, can anyone assist me in trying to get the gentoo minimal disk to detect my harddrive on laptop :(
[22:56]<mzcxzgmzz>crocd: Update the CD? There's a tool for that: tinsnips. Download an x86_64 livecd and use that instead.
[22:56]<azjam>i really dont want to go through a whole build again.
[22:56]<wusxy>is it normal to have firefox with VmSize of 140,000, VmRss 50,000 ? o_O
[22:56]<tfkdfn>hawking: most likely you'll want to modify that then rebuild the configure script with ./autogen.sh for example (or run the autotools manually, always forgot what order to run them in though)
[22:56]<hrednrg__>hi, i'm trying to emerge xorg-x11but i get a 404 not found. what can i do?
[22:56]<czjdgzgg_>hi all...
[22:56]<mcy>xushi, depends on your settings, but.. pretty much yeh :P
[22:57]<wusxy>Mki: damn! heavy.. heh
[22:57]<igvzjvnzv>Hey guys, can anyone assist me in trying to get the gentoo minimal disk to detect my harddrive on laptop -- never used a laptop so im clueless. I don't see anything in dmesg (Sony Vaio)
[22:57]<czjdgzgg>any of you know, how to control which sound device the shockwave flashplayer outputs to?
[22:58]<mcy>xushi, yeh... building it with -Os might help a bit, as would changing the way it caches pages... cant remember the option for that though
[22:58]<tfkdfn>kroyeren: you can't probably :)
[22:58]<anxuvd>anyone know what the chmod permissions for /boot/grub/grub.conf should be
[22:58]<czjdgzgg>hmm... that sucks...
[22:58]<mcy>Introvert, lspci?
[22:58]<2jsnfn>hi all, i got problems and would love to tell you about them but they would require a pastbin- whats the url?
[22:59]<anxuvd>www.pastebin.com
[22:59]<2jsnfn>thanks
[22:59]<anxuvd>or .org
[22:59]<anxuvd>i think either one
[22:59]<mcy>jehuty, 644 or 600 depending on your paranoia level...
[22:59]<anxuvd>which is more paranoid?
[22:59]<mcy>600
[22:59]<anxuvd>k
[22:59]<mnvrpxrnn>quick i need a link that will tell me about portage and unmasking... why would this not work in package.keyword =dev-db/mysql-5.0.21 ~x86
[23:00]<tfkdfn>MetaPhaze: maybe because the file is called package.keywords, not .keyword?
[23:00]<ggguddggg>MetaPhaze: some packages are masked in your profile...
[23:00]<mcy>MetaPhaze, you dont need the = or the package version.. or the keyword bit
[23:00]<2jsnfn>so, i have a fresh install and now im trying to get modular xorg going..but medialibs/mesa wont build http://pastebin.com/737874
[23:00]<mnvrpxrnn>TFKyle, sorry typo... it's keywords
[23:00]<tfkdfn>Mki: he's specifying the version, so he should need an =
[23:01]<2ggaz_>do do i stop kde turning numlock off when it loads?
[23:01]<2jsnfn>might my symlink be wrong or something?
[23:01]<tfkdfn>Mki: though probably ~ would be better here
[23:01]<mcy>TFKyle, if he wants to specify a version.. yeh.. *shrug*, i'd just go with ~
[23:01]<mnvrpxrnn>so what to do?
[23:01]<mnvrpxrnn>ok
[23:02]<dufddraxygn>MetaPhaze: http://gentoo-wiki.com/Masked
[23:02]<mcy>MetaPhaze, echo dev-db/mysql >> /etc/portage/package.keywords
[23:02]<ygvzjvnzv>I can't get my Sony Vaio's harddrive detected with the gentoo minimal disk, any help?
[23:03]<anxuvd>when you have your /boot partition unmounted should any kernel versions be visible or not because with my /boot unmounted when i ls /boot -an i can see my kernel is that bad did i do something wrong?
[23:03]<tfkdfn>I've got 1 broken windows install, but thats expected :)
[23:03]<mcy>introvert, you mean you dont get /dev/hda* ?
[23:03]<ygvzjvnzv>yes
[23:03]<ygvzjvnzv>only /dev/hdc (CD Drive)
[23:03]<ggguddggg>TFKyle: try emerging things masked in your profile.
[23:03]<slrnve>Introvert: /dev/sd* ?
[23:04]<mcy>introvert, sure its an IDE drive? might be /dev/sda*
[23:04]<tfkdfn>arrummzen: nah, I'm not *that* crazy
[23:10]<ygvzjvnzv>CFDISK can't access my harddrive
[23:10]<ggguddggg>introvert: how are you running cfdisk? What comamnd line options?
[23:10]<rwwnf>dulymachine: so if i use --skipfirst pack3 it skip pack1, pack2, pack3 and emerge pack4 and later?~
[23:10]<ygvzjvnzv>cfdisk
[23:10]<hrednrg__>reisio: i tried at less 3 times :(
[23:10]<mcy>introvert, try `udevstart`, it might just not have created /dev/hda1
[23:11]<znysyj>HazyNRG__: which version?
[23:11]<wusxy>i got a friend that insists that going ~x86 is completly safe .. to the extent that he told a gentoo channel he's going back to the stable, and ALL of them commented against it
[23:11]<ygvzjvnzv>Mki: Nothing
[23:11]<mcy>introvert, no /dev/hda* ?
[23:11]<ygvzjvnzv>nope
[23:11]<2jsnfn>im chrooted into my new install and now i need a symlink for modular xorg (Note: Make sure /usr/X11R6 is symlink to ../usr. If it is) 2 questions
[23:12]<wusxy>i mean, there's a REASON for ~ .. if not, it wouldn't be there.. right ?
[23:12]<ygvzjvnzv>No /dev/hda or /dev/sda or /dev/hdb or /dev/sdb
[23:12]<ggguddggg>Could he have a SCSI hard disk?
[23:12]<2jsnfn>what is the command to make a symlink
[23:12]<mnvrpxrnn>ok i don't get this i have =dev-db/mysql-5.0.21 in my package.keywords and <=dev-db/mysql-4.1.19 in package.mask and it wants to down grade my mysql installation. Why?
[23:12]<hrednrg__>reisio: 6.8.2
[23:12]<2jsnfn>and where should it point to exactly, ive tried some ways but i think im doing it wrong
[23:12]<ryaxg>jehuty, no, you shouldn't have files in mount points where the respective device is unmounted, and if you do, you shouldn't even be able to mount /boot, which would prevent you from accessing your boot partition without modifying the parameters to mount
[23:12]<mcy>MetaPhaze, emerge -uDNpvt mysql might tell you
[23:13]<znysyj>HazyNRG__: might just give it a day
[23:13]<ggguddggg>introvert: try booting a knoppix CD and see if it can find the hard disk?
[23:13]<anxuvd>RichG okay thanks thats what I thoght
