[00:00]<aljas>Hi, someone showed me some sites where to learn some CSS design some time ago, could you post them again?
[00:01]<wjlllrws>Apocs: #web or #css
[00:01]<aljas>Wolfpaws: thank you :)
[00:01]<rwjfw>hey guys. i started using php as cgi through lighttpd, and some of my sites stopped working. i then found out that it's because the variable $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] is empty. all the other $_SERVER variables are defined. any ideas?
[00:02]<ajxgdw0wn>Is there a way to base64_encode the whole get line, then easily de-encode it and have php auto-fill the variables w/o searching through the de-encoded string?
[00:02]<wyggq>what is the best way to view php errors? must the debuging program be writen into the custom software? does someone have a good set of functions allready writen so i can take advatage of them?
[00:02]<ajxgdw0wn>axolx: im pretty sure server var's can be defined through apache conf
[00:02]<eyzau>winn2: perhaps parse_str()
[00:03]<rwjfw>johnm1019: im using lighttpd
[00:03]<ajxgdw0wn>axolx: ok well whatever configuration files exist for that
[00:03]<ajxgdw0wn>axolx: if it doesn't take any config arguments you can probably pass something through the command line when you call it
[00:03]<ajxgdw0wn>axolx: otherwise i think php_ini can set something pseudo similar to _SERVER var's
[00:04]<dxdffdnz>Anyone know where the max_allowed_packet value for a php script is stored?
[00:05]<fxyfyf>axolx: cgi.fix_pathinfo = 1 in php.ini
[00:06]<mzgmzya>so if i'm using latin1 as my db encoding, what should my web page encoding be, windows-1252 or iso-8859-1?
[00:07]<mjgcnd_2>tomorrow i have an apptitude test for a senior php developer position for a pretty big .com, I think I'm in over my head this time :P
[00:07]<fxyfyf>axolx: or read http://www.lighttpd.net/documentation/fastcgi.html or search google for additional info
[00:09]<rwjfw>philip: thanks. that did it
[00:09]<pzyvxnz>is it possible to retrieve someone's mac address?
[00:09]<wyggq>one of our programers is having an issue, a user can log into his sytem, and a session veriable is created. Then if he closes and reopens the window(becuse there is no logout button) and tries to login as someone else, it just sits there and hangs. Now i am no programer but would like to give him a few ideas. Should the session variable be reset, or ended once he is done using it?
[00:10]<pzyvxnz>mac address - is it possible to retrieve?
[00:10]<wyggq>does that make sense?
[00:11]<rdrd_>father - not through php
[00:11]<pzyvxnz>asp?
[00:12]<rdrd_>i dont think so - it is more of a networking issue. I think that only the directly connection machines can see the MAC address. but I may be wrong
[00:13]<pzyvxnz>weird because i was banned from a forum for no reason and no matter what ip i try to post from, it won't let me
[00:14]<pzyvxnz>plus my cookies are cleared
[00:14]<rdrd_>humm, maybe it has banned your ISPs proxy. that is the best i can suggest.
[00:14]<pzyvxnz>weird stuff
[00:15]<pzyvxnz>will anyone here allow themselves to get chipped?
[00:15]<pzyvxnz>thanks adam
[00:15]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>I'll eat potato chips. Does that count?
[00:15]<pzyvxnz>nope
[00:15]<pzyvxnz>it doesnt
[00:15]<pzyvxnz>will u take a chip in your right shoulder
[00:16]<wjlllrws>!+u
[00:16]<lxl-2jv>Surely you mean 'you', not 'u'? The letter 'u' is not a personal pronoun. Talking like this in ##php may get you silenced. For details, /msg php-bot aolbonics
[00:16]<pzyvxnz>i'm telling you people will be getting chipped by 2010
[00:16]<eyzau>Wolfpaws: storm-bot doesn't accept commands via a /query window?
[00:17]<wjlllrws>zircu: no storm-bot... php-bot
[00:17]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>Oooh, php-bot got resurrected? Cool.
[00:18]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>faither: I am sure that by 2010, many people will get "chipped" whatever that means... So?
[00:18]<wjlllrws>zircu: But if you're thinking about my bot? Yes, yes it does... It acts like php-bot... Well... There is still a glitch that I need to flatten out
[00:18]<pzyvxnz>richard
[00:18]<pzyvxnz>www.verichipcorp.com
[00:18]<wjlllrws>!+enter
[00:18]<pzyvxnz>the chip is coming
[00:18]<lxl-2jv>Don't use the enter key as punctuation. Think in complete thoughts, then type.
[00:18]<pzyvxnz>16 digit number
[00:18]<pzyvxnz>there will be subway hackers with scanners LOL!
[00:19]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>I ain't gettin no damn ID chip in my body, thank you very much.
[00:19]<pzyvxnz>that's what they all say at first
[00:19]<rdrd_>indeed
[00:19]<jdddd>The ONLY electronics goin in my body is a pace maker.
[00:19]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>You can put one in my dog (if I had one) but not me.
[00:19]<eyzau>or a cat
[00:20]<jdddd>or bird
[00:20]<wjlllrws>or hamster
[00:20]<jdddd>no, hamsters most carry a photo id
[00:20]<pzyvxnz>also the north american union is coming
[00:20]<pzyvxnz>by 2010
[00:20]<pzyvxnz>www.spp.gov
[00:20]<pzyvxnz>check it out
[00:20]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>I think it's a fine idea for a pet. And I can even see uses for, say, mentally incompetent, convicted criminals (perhaps for reduction in sentence) etc. Where's the PHP?
[00:20]<yzzjsfzvvb>anyone knows how I can execute a shell script from inside php?
[00:21]<eyzau>YaroslavVB: php.net/exec
[00:21]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>YaroslavVB: http://php.net/exec
[00:21]<pzyvxnz>ok guys
[00:21]<pzyvxnz>thanks for the chat
[00:21]<pzyvxnz>remember the chip
[00:21]<pzyvxnz>terminator is coming!!
[00:21]<eyzau>i think someone watches to many movies
[00:21]<pzyvxnz>ya ok
[00:21]<jzpnu>hello
[00:21]<jzpnu>how can i install a beta program in pear ?
[00:21]<pzyvxnz>google scott silverman
[00:21]<jdddd>!+pear
[00:21]<lxl-2jv>[PEAR] PHP Extension and Application Repository, a framework and distribution system for reusable PHP components. ##PHP does not support PEAR, please see http://pear.php.net/support.php.
[00:21]<pzyvxnz>or you tube him
[00:22]<pzyvxnz>later
[00:22]<eyzau>hopefully much later
[00:22]<wjlllrws>He was ""<-- this close
[00:22]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>whew.
[00:22]<wjlllrws>For a mute, that is, not anything else :3
[00:23]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>Sorry I asked -- just got back, and thought it was something interesting or at least relevant.
[00:23]<wjlllrws>richardlynch: neither :)
[00:23]<gbzglzgsggv>hi, in a cpanel hosting environment, how do i put files 'outside the document root' ? how do I refer to them if they're outside my public_html folder?
[00:23]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>Well, yeah, NOW I know.
[00:24]<wjlllrws>richardlynch: rofl
[00:24]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>NBrepresent: If they are in some folder that is not "public_html" or whatever cpanel gives you, then they are "outside". You can use include_path to refer to them.
[00:24]<zjun>hola.
[00:24]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>When I walked in, he was just asking if anybody was gonna get chipped, and I thought he was trash-talking PHP somehow.
[00:24]<fnrjfrstto>is eval("\$$uvar='$uval';"); equal to $$uvar=(string)$uval; ?
[00:25]<jdddd>little does he know that we've already chipped him
[00:25]<zjun>I'm running into a segmentation fault when I try to ldap_start_tls to a server that has an SSL cert from IPSCA.com . I suspect my server (Redhat AS4) doesn't recognize the certificate authority. Anyone know how to tell php to ignore that it doesn't recognize the CA or to add the CA to my box?
[00:25]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>leolas558: No. The '$uval' should be (string) $uval for them them to be the same. And don't use eval anyway.
[00:25]<zdzxzzmfdgzx>!tell legolas558 about eval
[00:26]<yzzjsfzvvb>I'm complete newb at php -- exec executes the command, but how do I display the output of the command on the page?
[00:26]<eyzau>YaroslavVB: it depends on the php.net/exec tool you use
