[19:24]<ayzzsvnz>well i'd hardly call it "Winblows"
[19:25]<wjlllrws>Actually -- from my point of view windows are too unstable for production... But people would disagree with me, tho.
[19:25]<rn2nrrr00w>all the people that spell microsoft with a $ are going to come out of the woodwork
[19:25]<ayzzsvnz>i'm not exclusive to Windows
[19:25]<ayzzsvnz>but I'm not about to get rid of it
[19:26]<grgj2jv>Windows is slow, awkward, and constrained
[19:26]<grgj2jv>If it had decent virtual desktop support, that would be an huge improvement. But every such tool I've seen for Windows has been a lot slower than the Linux equivalents
[19:27]<ayzzsvnz>i use OS 10.4, Gentoo and then of course Windows :P
[19:27]<2uzgyg>before going over the technical issues with Windows all one has to do is read the licensing you have to agree to when using Windows.
[19:27]<yvzn2rf>Nanobot, Wolfpaws, and jiggster: i agree with all three of you, i dont consider it stable enough for production, and i too think is slow, awkward and constrained, however i am not about to get rid of my installation (small as it be) because i have several programs which must run on windows
[19:27]<ayzzsvnz>although my Gentoo box is just a server
[19:28]<yvzn2rf>jiggster: i love macs :)
[19:28]<wjlllrws>itrebal: Same here... (HL2 :3 )
[19:28]<fxyfyf>parallels for mac is fast
[19:28]<yvzn2rf>but i have to go, toodles
[19:30]<ayzzsvnz>Yeah I mostly keep Windows around for only a couple of reasons, games, Photoshop, Internet Explorer (to check my site's in) and thats it
[19:30]<rn2nrrr00w>Photoshop?
[19:30]<rn2nrrr00w>oh you use linux
[19:30]<rn2nrrr00w>nm
[19:32]<tra>nanobot ... windows power tools... there is a desktop switcher that works good
[19:33]<grgj2jv>Tac: I tried that. With only four desktops, it was slow as heck, at least compared to the desktop switchers on Linux. Right now I have 18 workspaces and switching through them happens instantly
[19:33]<ayzzsvnz>actually, i dont even need windows for Photoshop :P
[19:33]<grgj2jv>I use Photoshop (7) on Linux
[19:34]<ayzzsvnz>i use 8 on my Macs :P
[19:34]<rn2nrrr00w>I've got cs2 on tiger
[19:34]<ayzzsvnz>and my Windows box for that matter
[19:34]<ayzzsvnz>fully equiped, lol
[19:35]<ayzzsvnz>I've also had ZDE on Gentoo and x-forwarded it :P
[19:35]<ayzzsvnz>for some strange reason ZDE runs really badly on my Windows comp
[19:37]<tra>i scared my designer and told him he had the weekend to brush up on GiMP because i wqas moving the office over to linux this weekend
[19:37]<ayzzsvnz>Thats just cruel!
[19:39]<wjlllrws>Tac: \o/
[19:39]<wjlllrws>Tac: Did he bought it?
[19:39]<tra>no ... he woulda just quit
[19:39]<tra>lol
[19:40]<wjlllrws>I have no idea, how to handle photoshop anymore.
[19:44]<cxjls`>Is there a way to create a cron job using php?
[19:45]<fxyfyf>no
[19:45]<fxyfyf>well, yeah, depends on what you mean :)
[19:46]<cxjls`>Well I just need to run a script X hours/mins after another one is executed
[19:47]<2uzgyg>php scripts can be ran from the command line, therefore you can run a php script from a cron job.
[19:47]<2uzgyg>if that's what you mean. :)
[19:48]<cxjls`>no i need a php script to actually create the cron job
[19:48]<tra>Chops`, thats not a cron job .... thats more like a new thread that sleeps for a while :-p
[19:48]<cxjls`>i have lots of scripts run every 30 mins already on my server :p
[19:48]<tra>Chops`, have php run commandlines to modify the crontab
[19:48]<tra>super secure
[19:48]<txnjzd>lol
[19:49]<2uzgyg>hmm, I'm sure there is a way that you can get a php script to execute a system command, >cron newtabfile
[19:49]<2uzgyg>but it sounds like a security risk
[19:49]<cxjls`>exec()?
[19:49]<cxjls`>I will just make a script that runs every 3 hours and checks if it should run or not
[19:50]<cxjls`>:s
[19:50]<tra>that sounds like a phenomenal idea!
[19:50]<tra>what do people use for project management!!
[19:50]<tra>i was going to try out dotproject... but the site was down :-p
[19:50]<wjlllrws>DP is crap
[19:51]<tra>i saw a version 2 out now... thought id look at it again
[19:51]<tra>i need something....
[19:51]<tra>ive got half a dozen people now ... and i spend all my time getting things for them to work on .. and i dont get to do anything myself anymore
[19:52]<wjlllrws>Tac: Welcome to my world.
[19:54]<2uzgyg>Tac: http://proj.chbs.dk/
[19:55]<2uzgyg>Planner looks interesting, http://developer.imendio.com/wik/Planner
[19:58]<ayzzsvnz>http://developer.imendio.com/wiki/Planner *
[19:59]<rerv>anyone reccomnd a good php book?
[19:59]<ayzzsvnz>www.php.net/manual/en/ :P
[19:59]<ayzzsvnz>nah i dunno
[20:00]<grgj2jv>That's where I went to learn
[20:01]<ddq000>Hur faan kunde han missa straffen? -Mångmiljonär på fotboll o han skjuter över... Jävla looser! :@
[20:02]<ayzzsvnz>uhm?
[20:03]<wjlllrws>!+english
[20:03]<lxl-2jv>##PHP is an English only channel. If you need support in some other language, please try elsewhere.
[20:03]<tra>i think its fun how noone in here seems to use any PM software that they can recommend :-p
[20:04]<rerv>mm2000? football lovah?
[20:04]<ddq000>How tha fuck could he miss the penaltyshot. -Multiple milionere in soccer and he misses. Damn looser! :@
[20:04]<wjlllrws>...
[20:04]<cxjls`>If I want to do two mysql queries can I do it in one mysql_query()?
[20:04]<ayzzsvnz>yes
[20:04]<rerv>maybe he'll get murdered by his countrymen like that loser from columbia years ago
[20:04]<ruyeee>i think no
[20:04]<ayzzsvnz>i think :P
[20:04]<ayzzsvnz>i dont know
[20:04]<ayzzsvnz>lol
[20:04]<ruyeee>Chops`: no..
[20:05]<rerv>but can anyone reccomend a decent php book?
[20:05]<wjlllrws>mm2000: Take the soccer topic out of here
[20:05]<cxjls`>in SQL cant you do two things in one command?
[20:05]<ruyeee>Chops`: in mysql_query you cant
[20:05]<cxjls`>ok
[20:05]<wjlllrws>Chops`: No, mysql_query only allows one SQL at a time
[20:05]<ddq000>Wolfpaws: sorry. I am just dissapionted. Have to vomit my hate somewhere..
[20:06]<wjlllrws>mm2000: Do it somewhere else
[20:06]<ddq000>Wolfpaws: yes. In #fedora! ;)
[20:06]<wjlllrws>...
[20:06]<ayzzsvnz>oh thats right, now i remember :P PHP's SQL functions are severely restricted
[20:07]<wjlllrws>Well.. .There is this thing about mysqli... It allows you to execute multiple queries with mysqli_query_multy(or someting in that direction
[20:07]<wjlllrws>)
[20:09]<jvyajg7>Worked fine on old server, migrated to new one and keep getting this message: "Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in ..." The argument is just $result = mysql_query('bla');
[20:10]<wjlllrws>!+mysql_error
[20:10]<lxl-2jv>Handle SQL Errors! For MySQL, always check if mysql_query() returned false; if so, print mysql_error(). I.e. $result = mysql_query($query); if (!$result) { echo $query.'<br>'.mysql_error(); exit(1); }
