[07:52]<cjzfjzzf_dyzrn>Dark_Knight_209, "gksudo nautilus" work too I think.
[07:52]<vzzug>zazeem: do what Dark_Knight_209 said
[07:52]<dzzc_cryrxv_q0n>i'm so used to sudo su
[07:52]<zgmznwscy>Dark_Knight_209, hippie23: use sudo -i
[07:52]<dzzc_cryrxv_q0n>ever five minutes
[07:52]<cjzfjzzf_dyzrn>andrewski, I mean add to fstab
[07:52]<vzzug>!gksudo > varun
[07:52]<cpjrnf>Trying to build bleeding edge Emacs from source, but apparently no X Windows development libraries are installed (this is Ubuntu 6.06). What apt-get install foo should I do? It's very hard to guess the correct package names :).
[07:52]<sxzylxrgy>i use just sudo followed by reqd. command
[07:52]<zgmznwscy>Corporal_Dirge: oh, right. :)
[07:52]<dzzc_cryrxv_q0n>-i , be quite!
[07:52]<sxzzds>shriphani: thats the right way.
[07:52]<msxnlxnzm>is there a desktop file for the bookmarks you make it nautilus?
[07:53]<rjrvdrfn>n3rd did you get the link
[07:53]<dzzc_cryrxv_q0n>i just woke up a little while ago
[07:53]<vzzug>zazeem: actually use gksudo
[07:53]<sxzzds>Dark_Knight_209: I am sure you are aware, but sudo -i defeats the whole purpose.
[07:53]<sxzylxrgy>kfogel, emacs from source could give you a whole new concept of problems
[07:53]<vzzug>!gksudo > zazeem
[07:53]<zgmznwscy>!fstab > Corporal_Dirge
[07:53]<nrnnnd>says not founf
[07:53]<g1zdysd>goatmale: yup 1 sec
[07:53]<zgmznwscy>Corporal_Dirge: i'll be around, but i need to get up for a minute.
[07:53]<cpjrnf>shriphani: it's okay, I've run it "all my life", am one of the developers. This is a new box I'm checking out my usual source trees on.
[07:53]<nrnnnd>varun: says !gksudo > zazeem not found
[07:53]<cjzfjzzf_dyzrn>andrewski, How do I add users to write?
[07:54]<vzzug>zazeem: lol.....don't run that at command prompt
[07:54]<vzzug>zazeem: check your pms
[07:54]<nrnnnd>?
[07:54]<zgmznwscy>!permissions > Corporal_Dirge
[07:54]<vzzug>zazeem: from a shell from gksudo nautilus
[07:54]<cjzfjzzf_dyzrn>!permissions
[07:54]<u2jvu>The files and directories on an Ubuntu system are organized according to a standard, see http://www.tldp.org/LDP/Linux-Filesystem-Hierarchy/html - file permissions are explained at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FilePermissions - All filenames and directory names (and many other things) are case sensitive in Linux
[07:54]<dzzc_cryrxv_q0n>chmod 777 :-p
[07:54]<sxzzds>kfogel: installed build-essential yet?
[07:54]<dzzc_cryrxv_q0n>j/k
[07:54]<zgmznwscy>Dark_Knight_209: eekers.
[07:54]<cpjrnf>sharms: thanks, will try!
[07:54]<vzzug>zazeem: run*
[07:54]<g1zdysd>goatmale: what are you going to use this partition for?
[07:55]<cpjrnf>sharms: (no, hadn't installed it yet)
[07:55]<rjrvdrfn>storage
[07:55]<2dffdvwjwdffd>any good opensource programs to make screenshots from videos?
[07:55]<g1zdysd>goatmale: ok what you are going to do then is get rid of all the partitions for hdb
[07:55]<dzzc_cryrxv_q0n>anyone know the 209? (area code)
[07:55]<nrnnnd>says missing a command to run
[07:55]<cpjrnf>sharms: that just seems to be dpkg dev stuff, not X Windows headers & libs...
[07:55]<g1zdysd>goatmale: and make one primary partition in ext3 format
[07:55]<fyguw_usnz9001t9>how can i compress archives with into zip files?
[07:55]<sxzzds>kfogel: also if it doesnt do it, apt-get install xlib-dev. find this by opening synaptic and searching for xlib, or apt-cache search xlib | grep dev
[07:55]<nrnnnd>k i got
[07:56]<nrnnnd>thnx
[07:56]<vzzug>zazeem: read what I typed carefully
[07:56]<rjrvdrfn>so how n3rd?
[07:56]<cpjrnf>sharms: thanks for the tip
[07:56]<sxzylxrgy>thats it gnome is gone now
[07:56]<sxzylxrgy>this is an xubuntu desktop wee
[07:56]<g1zdysd>goatmale: right click the partitions in the partition table and remove, untill it says unallocated space as the only option and then click it and make that into ext3
[07:56]<rjrvdrfn>all of them
[07:57]<g1zdysd>goatmale: everything in hdb
[07:57]<rjrvdrfn>even the swap?
[07:57]<dzzc_cryrxv_q0n>what if all linux programs where just named by numbers?..." hey you hear 4454545 came out "
[07:57]<g1zdysd>goatmale: yah you already have 1 swap in hda
[07:57]<rjrvdrfn>so delete it>
