[11:58]<pdznsvzvz>aqau_inter_fly: then sudo chmod -R u+rwx /home/tom/ntfs
[11:58]<dnw2yn>does that even run PONG?
[11:59]<2yfss_>ajax4: yes it is in etc just add admin to it then go into /home/admin as root nano but in the crontab line and save it as what?
[11:59]<tzuppnfguus>WTF is PONG? :P i am new, sorry :P well...have SOME experience with Gentoo...I loved it :p
[11:59]<mrjumrn>enyc: you still there?
[11:59]<tzuppnfguus>but now i want to install Ubuntu :)
[11:59]<pdznsvzvz>TruffelGuus: a very, very old game.
[11:59]<tzuppnfguus>lol
[11:59]<grvxrga>i have installed LAMP server but I want to make script that will stop all the services?
[11:59]<dnw2yn>hmm most things I know involve you installing ubuntu
[11:59]<tzuppnfguus>oooo that Pong :p
[11:59]<pdznsvzvz>TruffelGuus: the great-grandaddy of playstation
[11:59]<2jgsry>TruffelGuus, you can try changing vga modehe start-up screen when the livecd starts to boot, press F4 or F5, can't rememeber, it says "VGA"
[11:59]<rrrw9>bilss_: Use the same crontab lines from the other crontab file
[11:59]<tzuppnfguus>with the bars and 1 ball :P i know it :p
[11:59]<dnw2yn>thats pong
[12:00]<tzuppnfguus>tnx dewbie. Will try that then....but i fear the worsed :p
[12:00]<dnw2yn>don't fear it
[12:00]<pdznsvzvz>Cryptid: are you using a local apt proxy or cache?
[12:00]<dnw2yn>embrace it
[12:00]<mfy>Cryptid, did you setup some http proxy?
[12:00]<pdznsvzvz>Cryptid: pastebin your /etc/apt/sources.list
[12:00]<tzuppnfguus>i don't fear pong i fear that VGA will not work :p
[12:00]<dnw2yn>thats bonzai's suggestion
[12:00]<2yfss_>ajax4: ok yes i know its the same line but in nano what do i same the file as what name
[12:00]<czmlvym>dli: fyrestrtr no idea i havent done anything of that sort
[12:00]<ggda>DaJudge: yes
[12:00]<dnw2yn>not mine
[12:00]<rrrw9>TruffelGuus: I fear pong. That crap is scary!
[12:00]<zpzu_dgvnz_pfd>fyrestrtr: okay it only changed the ownership of the ntfs file, (not every single windows file) and it is stilled denied when i cd into it :-P
[12:01]<tzuppnfguus>lol ajax4
[12:01]<mrjumrn>enyc: still the same prob.. so frustrating.
[12:01]<2yfss_>ajax4: save
[12:01]<pdznsvzvz>aqau_inter_fly: okay, does it have the same permission line?
[12:01]<mfy>Cryptid, better to pastebin your /etc/apt/apt.conf ( the file under /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/
[12:01]<ggda>DaJudge: hangon... you mean thenetwork has been working all-along?
[12:01]<czmlvym>dli: fyrestrtr it use to work before suddenly it stoped working
[12:01]<dnw2yn>ajax4 : and as such you should
[12:01]<ggda>DaJudge: its just you cant see SMB shares?
[12:01]<czmlvym>fyrestrtr: yeah one sec i will paste it
[12:01]<ggda>DaJudge: I thought you meant the NETWORK was not working -- i.e. ne IP adress or not able to ping anything
[12:01]<zpzu_dgvnz_pfd>fyrestrtr: yes exactly
[12:01]<mfy>Cryptid, " it doesn't work " has no meaning here, it won't bring in any help
[12:01]<pdznsvzvz>aqau_inter_fly: chmod -R 700 /home/tom/ntfs
[12:02]<pdznsvzvz>!doesn't work
[12:02]<u2jvu>Doesn't work is a strong statement. Does it sit on the couch all day? Does it want more money? Is it on IRC all the time? Please be specific! Examples of what doesn't work tend to help too.
[12:02]<mrjumrn>enyc: well.. im using the ubuntu comp right now.. so its using my network internet connection.. but i cant see the shares .. but the live cd works fine!
[12:02]<ggda>DaJudge: ooooh you didnt _say_ that
[12:02]<rrrw9>bilss_: What is the name of the file your cron commands come from on the old user?
[12:02]<dnw2yn>lmao ubotu
[12:02]<zpzu_dgvnz_pfd>fyrestrtr: sudo?
[12:02]<pdznsvzvz>aqau_inter_fly: no
[12:02]<ggda>DaJudge: I thought you meant the notwark interface was not coming up at all
[12:02]<ggda>DaJudge: err network_interface even
[12:02]<mrjumrn>enyc: sorry... im having a hard time explaining the problem i guess
[12:02]<zpzu_dgvnz_pfd>fyrestrtr: permission denied
[12:03]<czmlvym>fyrestrtr: here it is check it out http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/18582
[12:03]<ggda>DaJudge: erm... i suggest you update everything first...
[12:03]<dnw2yn>getting sound working on anything should NOT be this hard
[12:03]<mrjumrn>enyc: did that
[12:03]<pdznsvzvz>aqau_inter_fly: what tha ... sudo chown -R tom:tom /home/tom/ntfs -- you missed some step.
[12:03]<ggda>DaJudge: make sure you have Dapper-updates and Dapper-security selected in packaging tool
[12:03]<ggda>DaJudge: and then upgrade
[12:03]<2yfss_>ajax4: not sure when i am in lex1 i just type crontab -e and the line appears
[12:03]<dnw2yn>to get a human to talk, just kick/tickle them, that doesn't work for Ubuntu unfortunately..
[12:04]<ggda>DaJudge: im not really used to using smb shares......
[12:04]<ggda>DaJudge: ask around r.e. bugs and soforth ;-)
[12:04]<sddd>my install has frozen at installing grub, is there a way to force it to exit, and then retry?
[12:04]<zpzu_dgvnz_pfd>fyrestrtr: okay if this doesn't work, i have to go to bed (its 5:02 AM), are you going to be on tommarow?
[12:04]<ndyf>Hello
[12:04]<pdznsvzvz>Cryptid: any reason you have both breezy and dapper repos listed?!
[12:04]<dnw2yn>hello
[12:04]<sddd>without a system restart and reinstall
[12:04]<mrjumrn>enyc: what is r.e bugs?
[12:04]<pdznsvzvz>aqau_inter_fly: yeah I'm on almost every day :)
[12:04]<ggda>DaJudge: ubuntu-wiki ubuntuforums ubuntu malone bug
[12:05]<ggda>DaJudge: your problem may well be described elsewhere ;-)
[12:05]<dnw2yn>ubuntu has a wiki... OMG
[12:05]<mfy>Cryptid, do: sudo -i ; unset http_proxy && apt-get -f update
[12:05]<rrrw9>bilss_: Okay, copy the crontab instructions to a file with 'crontab -l > file' in lex1, then copy it over to admin with 'sudo cp file /home/admin/'. then log on as admin and type 'crontab file' to add those commands to admin's cron jobs.
[12:05]<czmlvym>fyrestrtr: no reason at all.
[12:05]<czmlvym>dli: http://paste.ubuntu-nl.org/18583
[12:05]<mrjumrn>enyc: well I appreciate your help. I have looked over the forums, wiki and searched.. but damn if I can figure out why the live cd will show my network and th eshares.. but not the installed version.
[12:06]<pdznsvzvz>DaJudge: report it as a bug
[12:06]<czmlvym>fyrestrtr: i have a backup of the original repository should i switch back to that?
[12:06]<pdznsvzvz>Cryptid: do what dli said first.
[12:06]<pdznsvzvz>Cryptid: then if it doesn't work, we'll try some other things
[12:07]<mrjumrn>fyrestrtr: um... where is the best place to do that.. sorry if it is a stupid question
[12:07]<pdznsvzvz>DaJudge: http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/
