[12:47]<kj-zj>aha
[12:47]<pejrejj>KJ-ro: u need cdemu dude - which you will have to compile as it's not in the repos
[12:47]<pejrejj>KJ-ro: or do as thoreauputic suggests, & convert to iso
[12:47]<vxjznruluvya>frogzoo: no, bchunk is easier
[12:47]<pejrejj>thoreauputic: yup
[12:47]<vxjznruluvya>cdemu is a pain
[12:47]<vxjznruluvya>:)
[12:47]<2jgsry>jbrimble http://easylinux.info/wiki/Ubuntu#How_to_speed_up_CD.2FDVD-ROM
[12:48]<vzv>guys, i am on breezy badger, i can't find the wmaker package to install.. i just installed ubuntu
[12:48]<kj-zj>frogzoo : cdemu solves all my problems with all tipe of images ?
[12:48]<pejrejj>KJ-ro: just .cue
[12:48]<vxjznruluvya>KJ-ro: the trouble with cdemu is you have to compile it and jump through hoops to get it working
[12:49]<vdvzd>why can't I compile qemu with kqemu accelerator support in my dapper amd64??
[12:49]<pejrejj>KJ-ro: bare in mind, .iso doesn't capture subchannel info, so cdemu might be required if you're dealing with copy protection
[12:49]<vxjznruluvya>vitry: is that supported by kqemu? I've only tried it on x86
[12:49]<pejrejj>vitry: did you run the script? should be a hands free process
[12:49]<pejrejj>!kqemu
[12:49]<u2jvu>kqemu is non-free kernel module for speeding up the !QEMU virtual machine. Installation instructions can be found at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/KQEmu - see also !qvm86
[12:49]<kj-zj>frogzoo: i am not ... i just want to mount vcd image someone did ...
[12:49]<jdrxf>thoreauputic: isn't it easier to convert the .cue image to .iso and mount that?
[12:50]<zgmznw_>thanks for the suggestions folks, i'll be off now. have a good weekend.
[12:50]<vxjznruluvya>JDahl: that's exactly what I said
[12:50]<pzynsv-jp-psy>hi all
[12:50]<vxjznruluvya>JDahl: I suggested bchunk for that
[12:50]<pzynsv-jp-psy>anyone here use the composite extenstion for ubuntu?
[12:50]<2yfss_>hi
[12:51]<kj-zj>linux drives me crazy ... too much info right now... i am done.... brain dead....
[12:51]<kj-zj>so long
[12:54]<awyffu>is there a quick way to get dns service proxied via an ubuntu box, or proxied via the ssh socks proxy?
[12:55]<awyffu>preferably in a zero-config'ish manner for the client (i.e., the config'd via the dhcp on the ubuntu box already (edubuntu'ish), or some ssh magic)
[12:55]<mysygvnznsvnm>im looking for a fan speed indicator
[12:55]<yndrnfys>hi
[12:55]<yndrnfys>is there any setting in proftpd like FollowOwnSymplinks in apache?
[12:55]<a2zyd2fn>ugh, i still can't play a video that i've encoded into xvid
[12:56]<awyffu>hmm, I guess 'zero-config' actually means 'zero-new-software-on-client', come to think of it
[12:57]<awyffu>quiet night :)
[12:57]<pzynsv-jp-psy>omfg
[12:57]<2jgsry>jbrimble, have you installed the necessary multimedia codecs?
[12:57]<pzynsv-jp-psy>why would composite work with radeon driver
[12:57]<pzynsv-jp-psy>and not fglrx
[12:57]<awyffu>Priest-of-Psi: use aiglx for opensource drivers
[12:57]<nmufyw>how can I trick apt to think that certain app is already uninstalled
[12:57]<nmufyw>?
[12:58]<pzynsv-jp-psy>cwillu: ?
[12:58]<awyffu>edulix: trying to install a package that claims to conflict, or just reinstall something?
[12:58]<nmufyw>because it didn't install successfully, and it takes ages (infintum) to remove
[12:58]<pzynsv-jp-psy>can you elaborate?
[12:58]<nmufyw>oh onw it worked the remove
[12:58]<nmufyw>:P
[12:58]<awyffu>lol
[12:58]<pzynsv-jp-psy>cwillu:
[12:58]<awyffu>Priest-of-Psi: xgl is recomended for the proprietary drivers
[12:58]<pzynsv-jp-psy>I dont want xgl
[12:58]<awyffu>Priest-of-Psi: aiglx is recommended for the opensource ones
[12:58]<pzynsv-jp-psy>:P
[12:59]<pzynsv-jp-psy>I just want composite
[12:59]<dnw2yn>aiglx is nice
[12:59]<dnw2yn>it works well
[12:59]<dnw2yn>on my machine
[12:59]<pzynsv-jp-psy>Dewbie: ati?
[12:59]<awyffu>Priest-of-Psi: for what purpose? the neat 3d stuff, or just something else?
[12:59]<pzynsv-jp-psy>just shadows
[12:59]<dnw2yn>no Intel 945GM chipset
[12:59]<pzynsv-jp-psy>but with the fglrx driver it breaks
[12:59]<pzynsv-jp-psy>no window borders etc...
[13:00]<pzynsv-jp-psy>but the radeon driver works fine
[13:00]<dnw2yn>mine has all that good stuff and its integrated graphics too
[13:00]<pzynsv-jp-psy>but if I use radeon I dont get any hardware rendering
[13:00]<pzynsv-jp-psy>so I cant play ET
[13:00]<pzynsv-jp-psy>:(
[13:00]<sugsxwg1>hey where i can change positions of OS in grub table ?
[13:00]<fyguw_usnz9001t9>!tell linux_user400354 about pastebin
[13:00]<awyffu>Priest-of-Psi: I _think_ the opensource drivers need aiglx to use the composite extension, but I haven't actually read that, just the sense I get
[13:01]<pzynsv-jp-psy>cwillu: it works now
[13:01]<xjusnxnzddzzc>SuNSh1n3> /boot/grub/menu.lst
[13:01]<pzynsv-jp-psy>but I dont have hardware rendering
[13:01]<awyffu>okay, then ignore me, for I know nothing :)
[13:01]<sugsxwg1>10q
[13:01]<pzynsv-jp-psy>lol
[13:01]<awyffu>on second thought, don't ignore me yet
[13:01]<pzynsv-jp-psy>cwillu: you know alot
[13:01]<pzynsv-jp-psy>:P
[13:01]<dnw2yn>funny thing is, mine shouldn't have hardware rendering, yet it does now
[13:01]<awyffu>no, I just say alot :p
[13:02]<xjusnxnzddzzc>does aiglx work with Nvidia yet?
[13:02]<awyffu>Priest-of-Psi: you're looking for acceleration in games, etc, while also using composite?
[13:02]<pzynsv-jp-psy>yes
[13:02]<awyffu>okay, I believe that that's what xgl and aiglx are actually for
[13:02]<dnw2yn>it is
[13:03]<dnw2yn>I concur with cwillu
[13:03]<sugsxwg1>tell me other editor non pico
[13:03]<xjusnxnzddzzc>aiglx - nvidia - anyone?
[13:03]<awyffu>fullscreen games with the proprietary drivers probably just grab the entire thingamabob from x to do their thing, and hence they work without anything special
[13:03]<awyffu>although you'd need xgl to use acceleration while in window'd mode
[13:03]<awyffu>the opensource drivers don't do that, and so don't work the same
[13:04]<2jgsry>househeadmark, as fas as i know nvidia is unsupported with X.Org 7.1
[13:04]<2jgsry>with aiglx that is
[13:04]<awyffu>however, with aiglx, you get the acceleration in full and windowed mode, with the open drivers
[13:04]<dnw2yn>don't play anything in fullscreen mode :P
[13:04]<awyffu>again, this is what I believe, not what is actually true :)
